A 3D Sequel That Loses Its Identity
I don't know where exactly this game has gone wrong, but I believe the sequel is even worse than the first game. Flawed as it may be, Morbid: The Seven Acolytes was at least a decent top-down action game, half souls-like and half Diablo-like. The sequel, Morbid: The Lords of Ire, ditches a lot of design from its predecessor in favor of a more widely accepted third-person action RPG. Don't get me wrong, 2D-to-3D transition is no easy work. However, the gameplay needs some adjustments and new addition to keep up with the new perspective. Sadly, the sequel has done nothing to fit the third-person view.
Things I Dislike About Morbid: The Lords of Ire:
1. Combat, Level-up, and General Gameplay It tries to mimic the inspiration, yet fails to create something interesting.

The combat system is a mess. It tries integrate everything without understanding why they work.
The third-person viewpoint is weird. While moving, often the camera move but the character stays at the left side of the screen.
Parry and riposte should just be one action. There is no point in parrying all the attack if you can just riposte the first hit and deal a critical hit.
Dodge and back step can co-exist, but the game somehow butchers both. Dodge feels clunky and the i-frame is strangely forgiving; back step is too fast and the i-frame too short.
Weapons only have archetypes. Everything else is just stat differences. No special attacks. No unique traits.
Socketing runes to weapon can improve its stats and even generate better rune through a specific blacksmith. The issue here is that runes have a limited amount. Enemies drop nothing so you can't farm them. Upgrading weapons also consumes the equipped runes. This really kills the urge to try new weapons.
Upgrading the protagonist is such a slog. Level-up grants you a skill point, which already require you to kill a dozen of enemies. You need a total of 30 to fully upgrade a blessing. It's definitely a different way of enhancing your character. The process takes too long and feels really unrewarding.
Sanity system feels underwhelming. All it does is filling the world with purple tendrils and sometimes spawns specters when killing enemies. There are also some side effects for going insane, but never do these things affect gameplay in a more dynamic way.
Backstabbing enemies is inconsistent. Sometimes you kill the enemies, but the other time you only damage half of their posture bar.
2. Poorly Designed Enemies There are a lot of problems regarding enemy design.

First, enemies doesn't know how to handle elevation. Sometimes they will try to path find another way, but most of the time they will keep attacking as if you were standing in front if them. There is even an optional elephant boss which straight up gets stuck on the slope it spawns from.
Posture mechanic is half-baked. In Sekiro, it's a way to open enemies up for finishers. Here in Morbid: The Lords of Ire it is just a secondary health bar players "need" to chew through. It may not be obvious at first, but at later stage this problem becomes prevalent really fast. It is impractical to hurt enemies with just normal attacks.
The situation is even worse when the game starts spamming enemies Dark Souls 2 style. Mid-to-late game is full of group fights. Players have no way to deal with more than two enemies at once. As a result, they can only bait out the enemies one by one, which further drawing out the fight.
Bosses are completely disaster. Other than the first one, the rest of the bosses are just unfun to fight. They all have an obnoxiously long attack that tries to track the players. It's fine to have this type of attack to keep players on their toes. Yet when the tracking keeps going and going, it's just ridiculous. For example, the second boss has a twirling punch which he uses to reposition himself to find me. Instead of stopping after four or five hits, he just keeps going, and he twirls almost half of the arena away from me.
3. Other Complaints

Maybe it's because of the 3D transition, the second game looks less "morbid" than the first game.
The game doesn't save my brightness setting from some reasons. I have to adjust it every time I boot up the game.
The art style is really inconsistent.
