It's kinda janky but i enjoyed

Bionic Commando 2009 is a pretty good sequel to the first Bionic Commando game and a very good action, platformer so what is the story. Nathan Spencer was once a hero as the first Bionic Commando, him along with super Joe were able to take down the Imperial Army and their deranged leader the resurrected Adolf Hitler, but after the epic battle the people's admiration for the bionic Commandos turned to fear and jealousy turning against the brave men and women who sacrificed so much in order to defeat the Imperials. And Nathan Spencer is no different after refusing orders in one mission he is sentenced to death as a traitor, but after years of imprisonment he is released it seems a new terrorist organization has risen up made up of the bionic commandos that escaped the purge, now Spencer must go into the ruins of Ascension city that has been taken over by the new terrorist organization and stop their evil plans and perhaps he'll get the answers he's looking for along the way. Alright the likes, the gameplay is really good, it's very fun to use the grappling hook and swing around the levels, also I feel personally this is probably the best version of the grappling hook as it's very easy to control, you can grapple anything and you can also swing side to side even after stopping. It also has some very good combat that can keep you a bit on your toes while still making you feel pretty powerful with its diverse choice of weapons, you can also use debris as a makeshift projectile weapon which was also very good, but one really good thing about this gameplay is that we can finally freaking jump which was needed. The guns are good each one is quite devastating and were all quite useful in taking down the various enemies. The graphics are good for a 2009 game with a nice set of colors, details and scenery that makes you just want to stop and look at it sometimes, especially seeing some of the more epic shots like that mobile base that’s walking around. The levels are good very diverse from cities, caves, jungles, with each part being quite distinct and don’t overstay its welcome. The story for the most part is good I do have a few problems with it, but that's for the dislikes. But anyway it feels very Bionic Commando with it’s over the top feel, it also certainly leans in heavy with the Nazi moments/parallels especially with Gottfried Groeder. The enemies and bosses are good each one has their own unique looks with regular soldiers to different types of battle mechs. The characters are good each has there own interesting personalities, like Nathan Spencer who is your standard badass, but still giving a bit more depth. The music is very good with remixes of the classic tracks that just feel epic. The voice acting is very good; you'll definitely recognize a few veterans in this game. Alright the dislikes, there is some jank like when you're sort of leaning on an edge and you're just kind of falling without falling, also the throw button doesn't really work basically we have an option to grab on to something and throw it, problem is the throw button was really hard to do and quite annoying, luckily is not allowed areas that require it. Now I said there were some problems with the story, [spoiler] one I didn't like the fact that they made super Joe into a badguy at the end I don't know I liked him better as a hero, also I don't really know why he became a bad guy it's not really explained well, I mean if the game is saying that he turned traitor because of the biotic Purge, okay that makes some kind of sense, but why work for a group that has a lot of fascist/Nazi leanings? I don't know it just didn't sit right with me with him being a surprise bad guy. Also I really didn't like the whole wife was turned into a bionic mechanical arm reveal that just felt really stupid, like even for Bionic Commando that just felt too ridiculous and dumb. [/spoiler] Also the game ends on a cliffhanger witch I don't think we'll ever be resolved which is sad. Finally this game doesn't have any achievements. So now that I told you all that Bionic Commando 2009 is a pretty good sequel to the first Bionic Commando game and a very good action, platformer, it has really good gameplay, for the most part is good story and good characters, so do I recommend this game absolutely, if you're looking for a classic 2000’s action game then you can't go wrong with this. Honestly I hope this game gets a re-release along with the original Bionic Commando and Bionic Commando rearmed one and two and just generally fixes and polish.
