Please don't be fooled by the mixed review score, this game is awesome, and a lot of the problems it had on release (a friend of mine was lucky enough to play it on release, I was not so lucky) seem to have been addressed so far. The art is charming, the game-play loop is neat and there is clear effort put into every piece of this game. If auto battlers aren't for you, this may not be your kind of game, but I promise there's a lot to love about this game even despite that. Even the musical score, as simple as it has, captures the charm of the experience throughout, along with the artwork and the gameplay this game is the full package! I really recommend giving Spellcats a go!

I really want to like this game, but maybe I was expecting something different when I got it. I'll wait to play when there are more synergies between cards and most of the bugs solved. (I got multiple achievements that I shouldn't have, plus errors in gameplay that make it quite unfair and boring) One bug that I thought funny but ended up in me being ultra-powered was what the game expected to be an end of turn and it got stuck for a couple of minutes in a loop, granting my cats lots of attack. It ended up occurring with the enemies as well, giving them unlimited hp when there wasn't any bonus effect to be granted to them, ending up in an unfair loss. Maybe at my 7th run I could tell that cards can be upgraded in some events, but only crossed with that once and I can't really say if there's a benefit to an upgraded card. I thought the cards should combine during the match, but apparently the way to do it is continuously get and sacrifice cats giving more hp or attack or take advantage of some bonus. Every time I went with a water card deck I didn't have to even look at the cards and that strategy always won, continuously sacrificing a 1 mana cat and getting another one until I run out of mana. The concept of health in this type of game is a bit strange to me, I was expecting to lose right away, so I win without thinking much at all without losing health, or I lose 1 health and become ultra op later on, the rng is often better after a loss, maybe its my perspective. I've come across some other bugs with electricity and I haven't unblocked most of the cards, but the synergies are few and practically non-existent. I'm still hopeful, because I believe the idea itself is great and scratches an itch other games do not, but the implementation is not there yet. I'll give it another try in a couple of months when there's more content.
