Very boring, clunky combat, extremely path instances that make you feel boxed in with no real exploration. If you want to play a similar game with better features I would recommend "Back to Ashes" over this.

so the graphics look amazing but the combat is rather odd and slow paced, you can get hit spammed to death. the AI generated voices and imagery look cool and the graphics are well done as stated earlier, but it is exhausting to play

Game itself has unique design style, not like Dark Souls, Witcher or other fantasies, which combines misterious and endangerment sense.
Gameplay element is easy to learn, especially after several or dozen of fights, however sometimes it might get bored using the same strategy against similar AI's. Several types of weapons changing feeling of fighting.
Lore is interesting. It is pity that most of it is in notes and books. It would be better to have playable character more speakable towards obtaining new information, exploring new areas or reacting in mess that demons made.
During my gameplay, I have never noticed any glitches or bugs.
This game definitely worth the price and the time to complete it.
It is incredible that this masterpiece made by two developers in their spare time.
For anyone, who likes medieval RPGs or Souls-like games, I recommend at least to get acquainted with this game.

I almost want to recommend this game but I really can't bring myself to do it. It kind of works if you think of it as like a 3DS port of a Souls-like game but it's just not there. Mostly because of how simplistic it is. First off, this was developed by just two people which was very impressive, and I really like the atmosphere this game gives off. Aside from ripping off the Diablo font, the gothic architecture combined with the ambient lighting really makes it feel desolate and empty. And the other thing I can say is that I like the way the weapons are strewn about the environment seemingly at random, making it really feel like luck when you find a better sword or spear.
That's pretty much all the good I can say about this game. It's pretty much just repetitive melee combat over and over again. The game adds a few new enemies as you progress through, but for the most part you will just fight the same sets of enemies ad nauseum until the end of the game. The intro is comedically bad, poor grammar mixed with a computer generated voice that doesn't know how to pause between sentences. More or less, the world is overrun by demons and you have to kill them, pretty much. There are notebooks scattered around to give out more of the game's lore which is a nice touch.
Your character can only equip melee weapons, roll and run. He can block, but you should never block because the one second delay between the block and attack will get you killed. You have an agility bar that basically wears down the more you attack or run, or roll, but since you only really fight one enemy at a time 90% of the time this doesn't matter. I kind of like the environments, but the enemies get old quick. Pretty much every fight you want to lure the enemy forward, then attack, then back up before he can attack.
Even though this game is Souls-like you can save anywhere and often just backtracking to the save point makes it impossible to fail. There are bosses, but only one of them offers any challenge whatsoever. Mostly this is a very easy game that just starts out very hard because the dev didn't know how to scale the statistics correctly. There are three ways to improve your character's stats: pick up new weapons or armor, pick up skill books for shallow stat upgrades, or kill enemes to gain points to buy one of five one-time ability purchases. It's the bare minimum of depth, and I'd probably be more likely to recommend this game if they added in magic spells or something. As it is, you still need to typically kill every enemy in this game (Which takes only about six hours to complete) which means fighting a bunch of redundant, repetitive battles with very little variety. Granted, you will change weapons frequently because often new weapons will offer damage upgrades that you'll want to use to progress. But the game is too simplistic and repetitive. At the very least, the last area of the game was an open fire pit type area that allowed me to run past everything and go straight to the final boss for one of the most disappointing endings I've ever seen in a video game.
It certainly isn't the worst game I've played, and it's an impressive feat for a game made by two people, but with so many superior games on the market that utilize this style of game play there really isn't much reason to play this one. Of course the atmosphere and music is great, and if you want a short game that you can mindlessly hack through it works in that regard at least.

This is a short indie game that I quite enjoyed. I only wish there was more content and more freedom to explore.
Some of the negative reviewers seem to be thinking this is an AAA game and are reviewing it as such. This is a small indie game and the devs have done a great job. I'd love to play their next game which I'm sure will be better. Keep up the good work!

This game is only ok, and I wouldn't buy it again. If there was a way to leave a neutral review this game would receive that. The combat is bad. It's not difficult nor meaningful. As a previous review said you heavy attack the enemies and then dodge out of the way. You CAN avoid most enemy attacks by simply walking away from them. The light attacks never seem worth using. The game looks cool, so points for that. Also the demon portal zones feel bugged because the "experience"(faith) points I earn inside of them don't seem to actually stay after I leave the area. My "Faith" is the same as before entering.

This is really, really rough. Easiest refund in a long time. It has some solid set pieces and ok boss design (visually; not mechanically), but it is unpolished with regards to its systems, mechanics, audio, level design, enemy design, and combat. I want to be generous as this was made by a small team, but at 12$, this game is impossible to recommend.
***(You can treat the above as my TLDR)***
The combat particularly is just miserable; painfully simple: Attack, dodge out, attack, dodge out.
Don't even bother with the light attack. It staggers nothing and takes around 8~16 attacks to kill the standard enemies which takes forever when you have to dodge out after every swing. You also don't need to bother blocking; it is completely useless. Your best option is to heavy attack (which takes up nearly your whole stamina bar) and immediately dodge out and wait for your stamina to fill up (which takes quite a while) before repeating. It isn't hard, just absurdly tedious.
The game is NOT hardcore. Dying has basically no consequence and you can walk away from almost any enemy without them being able to hit you. So outside of bosses, you can just walk/run past most threats.
This game does NOT make the player "think, analyze, and break stereotypes". That claim is some top tier BS that borders on an outright lie. There is no way the developers have played their own game and thought, "Wow, this game is so deep and mechanically outstanding that it will make players think, analyze, and break stereotypes." No shot.
I could go on a lot longer, but I'm starting to rant so I'll stop here. I appreciate that a small team developed this; but that does not excuse how bad this game is when they charge 12$. There are games for half that price that offer way more content and enjoyment than this ever could.
