I won't spoil this game, but it's absolutely not worth £8:50. This game isn't hours of fun, it's literally 30 minutes long. You get more value by buying a cinema ticket instead of buying this game. I'm very sorry to everyone who worked on it, but this game is worth a few quid at most.

Some quick thoughts as I'm only an hour in so far. I'm a non-puzzle gamer, so I think the challenges are harder for me that someone invested in this genre. Let's skip over the fact that I'm not the greatest gamer in general haha. The mechanics are dead simple and it's really fun! There are challenges that will rack your brains but it's not too punishing - you can skip, reset, etc. I also appreciate that I wasn't rushed to come up with a solution. I like that as soon as I'm comfortable with the challenges, a new dynamic comes up to make it feel fresh. Fairly straightforward so tutorials are light, which makes the experience smooth. Also, got to love the style!

A fantastic puzzle game! It starts out simple, almost *too* simple, but that's a good thing because it sets you up for a delightful progression of greater challenges and new mechanics. The game quickly becomes a proper brain teaser, with every new solve a satisfying victory. Balancing puzzle games is one of the hardest things in game development, and this game nails it! The presentation is great, too, and the narrative is funny and very clever.

Fun little game. Lots of easy to learn but tough brain teasers with a great calming jazz tune to go with it all

At first, I was blazing through the puzzles but at a point, I had to really slow down and plan my moves carefully. Some trial and error is necessary for you to figure out the gimmicks and a fair number of your retries will come from an effect you will probably feel like you should-a / could-a seen coming. A nice game to pick up and burn an hour or two on if you enjoy your puzzles and critical path games.

This game feels a bit... undercooked. To put it simply, there is a... trick? to the game that if you figure out will allow you to trivialize all of the gameplay, leading most of your time in the game leading to the score screen counting down. The story faltered - it brushes up against some big ideas (the metaphor between AIs and Parrots is an inspired choice) but, unless I somehow missed something in my playthrough, it fails to really address or progress those ideas to a satisfying conclusion. The messaging of what Machine Learning means seems contradictory. To be a bit mean, this feels like a Ludum Dare game that hasn't been cleaned up post-competition. All that being said, this game did at the very least intrigue me. I will be following this developer in the future, and might check out their past games.

PROS:

Fun puzzles with multiple solutions
Forgiving gameplay
Each puzzle brings varying levels of challenge
Various mechanics scattered throughout the game
Interesting narrative about artificial intelligence where you ARE the AI
Beautiful art and character design
Soundtrack is pure chill vibes
CONS:

The humans are mean and will talk crap about you lol
On the Peril of Parrots is an absolute gem of a game that I can't recommend enough. The puzzles are fun and engaging, with multiple solutions to each one, so you can really flex your problem-solving muscles. And if you make a mistake? No worries, the forgiving gameplay means you won't be punished too harshly. There's an undo button and even a skip button. But don't think the game is too easy! Each puzzle brings varying levels of challenge, so you'll always be kept on your toes. And with various mechanics to keep things fresh, you'll never get bored. Plus, the interesting narrative about you being AI will keep you hooked throughout the game. And let's talk about the art and character design. It's dope! I really like the overall visual style of the game. Don't even get me started on the soundtrack. It's so slick (this OST is a MUST), and the perfect accompaniment to your puzzle-solving AI adventure. Go get us ASAP!

I've enjoyed my time with this game! The way in which its narrative blends with the puzzles feels unique. I found myself engaged in the story, curious how it was going to develop. It was interesting to see how the various mechanics interact with each other to form new logic challenges, some of which were quite difficult! Also, the role of the player as an AI that is being tested by scientists is something I don't think I've seen in a game before. This concept was explored here with a really cool 'meta' twist that I don't want to spoil - I recommend getting On the Peril of Parrots to find it yourself!
