This game has charm that screenshots and trailers just can't capture. The devs created this really great world, with insanely good dialogue, art, and music that all come together perfectly. They've even wrote hundreds (i think lol) of random dialogue for NPCs just wandering around to say, sometimes they're just funny, and sometimes, they're philosophical and make you rethink life, and they're all worth to be read. Gameplay's solid – the racing's fun, and the special challenges and new unlocked areas create a great pacing of new experiences throughout your experience, also, the money system is great fun for a life rpg autistic nerd like me. Definitely check it out.

True Indie.
Couldn't put the game down on my first play-through. Originality brimming in every direction, especially the art & music. Sense of humour that doesn't over-saturate the game. Life-sim mixed with racing. Swallowed a litre of penis juice after being hit by a truck and avoiding medical debt. This developer has gained a fan.

An exceptionally charming life-sim type game where you get invested in the characters around you and change da world around you.
The humorous world and the variety of activities make Dryft City Kyngs a comprehensive experience where learning the ins-and-outs of the City is a rewarding process. Figuring out where to buy things for your co-workers coffee breaks, devising a particular racing style that works for you, and the age-old task of learning how to make money - these are the things that make a life-sim style of game enticing, and Dryft City Kyngs does those things well.
But what I enjoyed most about Dryft City Kyngs is its strong cast. Particularly, it is the level of detail and care that endeared me the most. From figuring out their occupations and day-to-day schedule, to learning the odd places they'll end up in the evenings or on weekends, and eventually hanging out at their apartment - where they will give you a piece of wisdom that feels both valuable and deeply true to that individual character. Even the layout of their apartments reveals a lot about these characters, showing the level of detail and care that went into designing the many faces that make up Dryft City Kyngs.
Even after beating the game (and the postgame!), it's still a nice experience to pop in for a few hours and relax with the assortment of activities available in the game. It's pure leisure.

The drifting reminds me of old school NES top down racers. The style of the game is very much it's own between the art and the writing. I couldn't tell you who this for, but I know I'm its target audience...

Become a corporate drone, and then immediately break the shackles of societal norms by taking your pants off and leaving work early to dryft toward your dreams. Like a mash-up of old-school GTA, Mario Kart and kinda Pokemon (in the RPG vibes), and a dash of No More Heroes. The city and characters have a tonne of personality, lots of cool details, places to explore, quirky characters and hilarious writing. Racing gameplay is solid arcadey fun and I surprisingly enjoyed the corporate job mini-games as well. Soundtrack also slaps!

sardonic and absurd life sim with dryft racing
go to work, take out the trash, liase with your coworkers, buy a soda, dryft race a teenager, buy useful trash off a dumpster goblin, put off your debts
the graphics and writing are a bonkers feast
the music is groovy
the racing is simple but fun to learn
bigger than it seems, great game

An indie game in the truest sense. It doesn't follow genre conventions or formulas, it does what it wants. In the vaguest sense this is a racing game, but contains elements from all corners of the gaming world that combine into something that you haven't experienced before.
There is more depth than meets the eye, and there's enough freedom in the game to make it easy to play how you want and at your own pace. Surprisingly coherent game world, banger tunes, and the racing gameplay is simple to understand but complex enough to keep it interesting throughout.
Highly recommended for indie game enthusiasts, especially those looking for a true original.

one of the most interesting games you'll play this year, its like some kind of Animal Crossing, Micro Machines, GTA and JRPG cross-over. The charm of the world, writing and just how things play out will consistently surprise you.
if you're Australian, particularly Melbournian, you'll appreciate how people in this game talk like Australians which is just something I haven't really seen in a polished game like this before.
Took me ~4.5-5 hours to complete and that was purely focused on experiencing the story, not really doing anything extra.

Hard to put a finger on what makes DCK so great. I think it's hard for the style to come across in the screenshots/vids... You've just gotta play it! :P
It's like a tongue in cheek punk rpg, where instead of battles there's quick arcade races. There's a tonne of stuff in there, so you'll be collecting wood and building sick ramps to jump off one moment, answering emails or making corporate logos the next (which is weirdly huge fun), then petitioning the council to paint all sidewalks green before grabbing an activated egg and meeting friends at the arcade to taze some dudes.
All through it there's this slap-dash style to the characters you meet, proc-gen one-liners that will have you barking out a laugh unexpectedly. Surprises at every corner.
Been playing it on steamdeck and it runs like a dream on that too!
