[strike]I spent over 30 hours + immersed in this game about lo-fi music and created some truly great memories. One of my favorite habits was listening to a selection of tracks on Sunday mornings while spending quality time with my daughter. Those moments felt special and deeply connected to the game’s atmosphere.
However, I’m now utterly disappointed because the developers have decided to remove all those cherished tracks and replace them with others.
And what's their solution ?
Listening to them again with ads with the IG browser.
This change has significantly altered the experience for me, and it no longer feels like the same game I originally purchased. The music was such a core part of what made this game unique and meaningful to me, and without it, the game loses a lot of its soul.
Time to uninstall, I'll listen to the tracks on YouTube with brave instead.
If you’re looking for an authentic lo-fi music experience tied to your personal memories, this ain't it anymore.[/strike]

The developer of this was bought out and the new owners have decided to remove content we all paid for rather than license the impacted music tracks from a competitor. That's just lame, all the damage control excuses being made really don't cut it so have fun with the negative review guys, you earned it.

Super disappointed to hear about the Lofi Girl buyout and removal of all songs. This was a nice cozy space and a relaxing little escape, and I am disgusted to see another nice indy thing get stomped into oblivion by a large company. I wholeheartedly recommended this game in the past, but will not moving forward.

Buyer beware: they do not intend to give you what you paid for. If you buy the game before August 25th you will have a different product after the 25th. This is not communicated to buyers outside a few buried news announcements. They sold out to Lofi Girl and are replacing all of the existing Homework Radio music, breaking their explicit promises that soundtracks wouldn't ever be removed from the game. (That is part of why I bought it to begin with - the language on the game page that said this wouldn't ever happen. I guess I was a fool who was parted from my money)
It was a great productivity tool and creative chill game, until the devs decided to gut what we already paid for, and at the same time try to squeeze more money out of us via DLC. It's so icky and transparent that they're trying to distract from the music replacement by doing it on the same day as the DLC.
I don't care to be told "lol don't be mad just use the in-game browser." Why should I have to stream the Homework Radio music - that I thought I already paid for - on YouTube with highly intrusive ads? Using the in game browser or my own web browser to add a layer of hassle and ads isn't acceptable.
There isn't even the basic feature of local music playback.
As others have said, it would have been easy to say "no more new Homework Radio tracks, lofi girl from here on out." Instead, Lofi Girl is just making a Disney style monopoly and squeezing out their competition.
I will figure out how to support Homework Radio directly for my Lofi needs. Mooncube Games and Lofi Girl have both lost my trust and support. What a tone deaf decision for a music based game.

Really, really disappointed to see a yet another indie studio get eaten like that. If devs thought that getting a fat check was worth turning the game into soulless junk for... Then, I'm afraid, the idea of authenticity has never been a part of their studio's values. A real shame. The music everyone grew to like since the moment they bought the game just went 'poof'.
And their attempt at redefining 'indie' in that announcement is simply laughable. No, Mooncube, you are not still indie if you got acquired by a bigger company who's your boss now. No matter how many times you call it 'A collaboration' instead of at least being transparent and saying it was a buyout. No matter how much "you still operate with the mindset of an indie studio".
Sad to leave a negative review but, unfortunately, everyhting positive I had to say about the game got overshadowed. Not just by the studio selling out, but even more by the studio's attempts to hide the fact that they sold out.

I never thought I'd leave a negative review for this game since I've really enjoyed it and its helped me through one of the worst times in my life. I have almost 300 hours clocked into this game and I wanted to just have the most glowing review here forever but the game that I liked is no longer here since they completely removed the original game music from homework radio that everyone loved that made the game what it was and replaced it with the lofi girl channel. its now just another lofi girl channel with different graphics.
this feels exactly like a buyout from lofi girl since they are getting into games they have decided to acquire mooncube games. This game will probably eventually get shut down as the staff get let go as big companies always do with the smaller companies they eat up, now the only tracks that will be heard in game is more generic lofi girl. what makes this even worse is that at the start of the game we were told the tracks would always be permanent in game but it seems like that only counts if there isnt someone bigger to sell out to.
It really feels like homework radio are getting kicked to the curb for an easy sell out option. thanks lo fi girl for ruining something really special with corporate BS like microsoft or EA would pull, you're fitting in with the big guys just perfect.
Hopefully after these reviews there will be a re-negotiation and the old music will be included along with occasional updates but lets be real, line go up is all that matters and nothing will change. I was genuinely looking forward to the train dlc but honestly this has completely ruined the game for me. itll just be a random train with terrible generic lofi girl playing. if I wanted that I would just watch lofi girl on youtube.

I’m 46, been gaming since the Atari/NES days, and I live with a chronic illness that makes energy and focus a rare commodity. Some days, even booting up a game feels like climbing Everest. But Spirit City: Lofi Sessions? This little gem meets me where I am and gently nudges me forward.
It’s not a game in the traditional sense. No boss fights, no QTE's, no pressure. Just a cozy room, a very nice selection of chill lofi beats, and a bunch of adorable spirit creatures that feel like emotional support animals in pixel form. You set your real-life tasks; whether it’s taking meds, stretching, or just drinking water, and the game rewards you with XP, decorations, and new spirits. It’s gamified self-care, and it works.
I’ve found myself looking forward to my daily sessions. I light the virtual fireplace, turn on the rain sounds, and journal for a few minutes. Sometimes I just sit and breathe. And when a new spirit shows up? It’s like a little high-five from the universe.
The art is beautiful, the music is soothing, and the whole vibe is like a warm blanket for the soul. For someone like me... who battles fatigue, brain fog, and the occasional existential spiral, this game is more than entertainment. It’s a gentle companion. A reminder that progress doesn’t have to be loud or fast. Sometimes, showing up is enough.
If you’re dealing with health stuff, burnout, or just need a soft place to land, Spirit City might be exactly what you didn’t know you needed.

We’re seeing a rise in attention span deficits and more people are finding themselves struggling to focus on even the simplest of tasks. We have developed excellent strategies towards getting more things done like a to-do list, habit tracking, journaling, Pomodoro timers, even body-doubling. Now imagine there is a game out there that provides all these features in one super chill package.
You also get the pleasure of unlocking special themed spirits based on your activities! The best part about this productivity game is you don’t have to do anything. There is actually an activity that is just relaxing on your bed or even looking out the window. Heck, you can even get rewarded for gaming while you game. A game within a game! 😂
The highly customizable characters and safe space feeling bedroom environment is just the icing on top of this delicious cake. You’ll get to journey to Spirit City, a dreamy little town where you’re the main character of a chill, self-improvement story. It’s not about grinding or winning. It’s about taking the chaos of everyday life and turning it into something you actually want to interact with.
🧠 WHY IT'S ADHD-FRIENDLY (AND NEURODIVERGENT APPROVED]
- Gamification of Real Life: Remember all those planners you buy but forget to use? In Spirit City, your to-do list turns into quests. Did you remember to hydrate today? Boom, you just earned XP on your habit tracker. Finished a chore? Congrats, that’s a To-Do List task well done. Did you realize halfway into your next task that you don’t even have the energy for it so you just want to relax?! There is also an “activity” feature for that, so yes, you are rewarded simply for being YOU in that present relaxed moment.
- Lo-fi Vibes Included: The built-in soundtracks provide various vibes like upbeat and energetic or ready for relaxation. Soft beats like these can help keep your brain in that perfect state between focus and chill, like a productivity hug for your neurons.
- Ambience rather than Music: Maybe you don’t want to listen to Lo-fi music, but the silence is deafening. Spirit City even has ambient sounds you can layer such as brown noise and bird chirps or the symphony of a crackling fire. You have so many options to choose from!
- Micro-Tasks for Macro-Wins: Big overwhelming goals? This game helps you slice life into bite-sized pieces, perfect for digestion when that executive dysfunction hits.
- Customizable Avatars and Environment: Decorate your in-game sanctuary to reflect your actual personality (hello, serotonin boost). Your space becomes as cozy and quirky as you are with just the right amount of interior decorator vibes.
🎮 HOW TO PLAY?
The goal of the game is whatever you want it to be. You get to set real-life goals in the game and then completing them helps you unlock new spirits, character customization, and environmental details. On top of the fact that your brain will feel a benefit from completing your tasks or even just resting mindfully. Think of it as digital pet collector meets productivity planner meets your favorite ADHD app that finally did it right.
❓ WHY PLAY?
This game doesn’t punish you for missing a day. Instead, it says, “Hey, life’s messy. Wanna pick up where we left off?” It gently nudges without being a bossy app with distracting notifications. Plus, you can approach your day as creatively as you want—want to write down random ideas? Create a playlist? Meditate? Maybe you just want to relax on the bed or stare out the window. All of it earns you credit in Spirit City.
⭐ YOU SHOULD PLAY…
- If your brain loves novelty but also desperately craves structure.
- If “go with the flow” sounds like the game mode you’d pick in real life.
- If you need a little extra magic to turn mundane tasks into authentically rewarding experiences.
So, if you’re ready to romanticize the little in addition to the big things in your life, Spirit City: Lofi Sessions is waiting to turn your day into an aesthetic, ADHD-friendly masterpiece. And hey, don’t forget if you start today and miss tomorrow that is totally ok especially in Spirit City.

Possibly the cutest idler game ever.
As someone with diagnosed ADHD who chooses not to take adderall for it, I struggle a lot with keeping up with my chores, and with the things I'd like to do.
This is a game that puts you on task and reminds you to do things- There's a journal with different prompts, a stopwatch (also plans your breaks for you), a timer, and a schedule, and rewards you for completing your daily tasks.
You can set your character to do lil things around your fully customizable home, like gaming at your desk, or knitting by the fire- As you do certain tasks during certain times of the day you earn cute little creatures who can hangout with you. The character creator is super nice as well, with 5 different slots you can save and switch between- I made an oni, an avatar that looks like me, an avatar that looks like my boyfriend, a dragon girl, and a bunny girl. :)
Outside of gaming, I spend a lot of time reading or working on things at my own desk, and I've been using this as a cute desktop background while I'm occupied with other things, and I'm immensely satisfied.
They're still pushing out cheap DLC content, with a roadmap into 2026, so you can expect more (paid) content for some time, as well!
I'm really enjoying it, it's super adorable. 10/10.

I bought this thinking I’d be productive. Instead, I spent hours rearranging my virtual room, petting my pet and listening to rain sounds. Also, this game told me to drink water. I did. Game of the year. 10/10, worth it.
