If you need a scheduler and work timer, get it. If you need a white noise machine, get it. If you need a cute dress up simulator and room decorator, get it. If you need a thing where you stare at a cute bunny washing a button in a thimble, get it. Its a very cute, very helpful little tool for those looking for that kind of thing. Tons of aesthetic choices, tons of customization, and cute little critters/digital pets that hang out while you do things.

This game is very cute and chill, here are some reasons why i liked it, and also, some big brain future development requests: why i like it and use it in my stream for viewers (as background) 1. chill music, sounds 2. pretty lighting depending on day 3. a lot of customization with outfits, skin colors, headsets/glasses 4. companions are cute and cool to collect (with some variety in color paletes) 5. level up/ exp system based on time in game (so we can study with it open), and additional exp for completing tasks and using the alarm 6. use the exp/coins to buy decorations for the room 7. its very chill, not a lot of movement so not distracting. if there's a lot of movement, our eyes would naturally be drawn to it and more distracted What I want: 1. I'd really want some group features and cooking features. 2. group features: might be invite others to study with you for bonus points/items/friendships 3. cooking feature: there's dlc but i dont think you actually "make food". its more of another room to decorate and different "actions" to pick (similar to sitting next to the window, sitting on your bed etc). "Cooking feature": 1. making something would take 1-3 hours just like in real life 2. decorate your cakes/food 3. cook together to cook faster/bigger portions 4. spend money to buy ingredients for the dish but as time consuming as studying is, it'll be nice if the character can actually cook in the game, since it usually takes 15-30 mins to cut some ingredients, 10 mins to boil water, etc etc and the whole cooking process is like 1-3 hours, which would be perfect for a daily study/working session of 3-5 hours. ie. we can make 2 or more dishes per day in the game. "Social feature": 1. people can come to buy cakes/food from others 2. you can decorate the cakes with creams, fruits etc 3. ppl can take photos of your food if they dont buy (but have to pay like 1 coin). 4. you can create recipes of the food/decoration designs for sale or furture use when you make more cakes. ie. you can replicate the same design with the recipe. 5. people can pitch in/ split the recipe into parts and list out as requests. others can accept the request to complete the recipe together. etc, some ppl will bring 5 potatoes, some ppl will bring/make the flour parts etc.

I cannot believe I haven't reviewed this game yet. I 100 percent recommend this game, as someone who finds it very difficult to stay on task and manage my time, it has seriously saved my soul from deadlines. As for the game itself, the spirits are so fun to find and they are perfectly adorable. The customization of literally EVERYTHING is so vast and easy, as you can use it on your avatar, your bedroom, your walls and floors...I can not stress enough how EVERYTHING is able to be customized. Even the spirits themselves! Perfect game for me.

"I'll get spirit city to help me focus while I work on my art and scripts..." >spends an entire day trying to catch all spirits "Well... At least I'm focused on something..."

Its a nice thing to help out if life is hectic and you dont feel like playing a game. I definitely reccomend mostly because of all of the little bells and whistles you get along with it. My only gripe is not enough character customization and clothing options.

This game/focus tool was recommended to me by my friend. It's such a cute game and I love all of the customization options available to create my very own cozy space to chill and focus. I haven't played too much with the different music options, but I love all the white noise options that allow me to create the perfect ambiance for my mood and what I'm working on. Some things I would like to see: More activities that the spirit companions do something for. Most of them just sit there regardless of location/activity your avatar is doing. They're cute, but it'd be cool if more of them were like the cat which does a lot of the activities (e.g., plays games, reads, plays with yarn, etc.) More spirit companions! Once you reach a certain level, you get to the point where you've discovered all of the available companions, so there isn't any real incentive to "level up." I know that's not the point of this game, but it would make leveling up more exciting if there were more to discover. The ability for online co-op. This would simulate the buddy method, where you and a friend (or friends) can all hang out in one of your spaces to hang out and work on your to-do lists. It'd just be cool to be able to visit my friends' rooms to check out how they decorated too! Auto-removal of tasks that have been marked complete. It feels tedious to go in and delete all of my tasks after marking them complete to clear out the clutter. Regardless of these comments, I will still continue to use this game as a focus tool because it really has helped me lock in and get things done with minimal distractions.

More of a productivity tool/ music player than a game but a nice one nonetheless. Could use a lot more customization options (hairstyles for example).

Spirit City has been an absolute game changer for me. I have it on most mornings in the background to peacefully get ready to. It's also a great focus tool for working and a relaxing background for when I'm reading.
Decor and Customisation
Spirit City offers so much customisation. There are lots of different outfit choices as well as decor options for each part of the room. You can change where your character is sitting and what activity they are doing to suit your mood. You can even change the lighting and weather to create the atmosphere you want. I'd like to add what a pleasant surprise it was that it was so easy to get the currency needed to buy these things - no predatory mechanics. My room and character looked exactly the way I wanted it to within the first couple of hours with plenty currency left over if I wanted a change.
Music and Sounds
Spirit City offers unbelievable depth and choice in this regard. There are 8 different lengthy playlists to choose from with different relaxing vibes to suit your mood. There are also a wide range of sounds you can add to the background, such as wind, thunder, cooking noises and a ton more including white, pink, and brown noise. All music and sounds are individually volume controlled and can be turned off at any point.
Productivity Tools
Useful tools including a to-do list, customisable pomodoro timer, habit tracker, and journal.
Gameplay
This is definitely not a "game" as such, but it does have a very cute spirit collecting aspect. To lure spirits, the game gives you hints about where to sit, what time of day it should be and what the weather should be like. Then you sit and wait. The game encourages you to have it on in the background rather than actively play it. It took me roughly around 18 hours to collect all spirits.
Overall
Overall, I would recommend this to anyone who likes chill background music and cosy vibes. One for those who love to customise, decorate, and collect. It's become such an ingrained part of my morning routine now and it honestly makes me feel so calm.

I love parts of this but I have to unfortunately give it a 7/10. The pets are great and fun to collect and there's a lot of customization options. However, if you are planning to buy this as a game, DON'T. Think of it as a useful, cute and interactive alternative to wallpaper engine that lets you have a to-do list, habit tracker, ambient noises, a tracker with some idler features. (Which feel a bit unbalanced for reasons I'll get to below.) SOME THINGS TO KNOW BEFORE GETTING THIS GAME, and things I would like to be added upon rather than just adding more dlc: 1. MONEY/CURRENCY: PLEASE let us have a creative mode or an "easy progress" mode or something! I get some people might like the feeling of long-term completion, but when I just want to style my room and play dress up doll with my character it gets annoying fast when money feels like such a drag to get. I could have it running in the background all day and still get what feels like a small amount of money a couple times a day and with levels it just gets longer and longer. Thankfully it is all ingame currency, but I just don't like "grinding" to experience the decorating and dress-up-doll side of it. 2. RECOLORS: Many of the wardrobe options are just recolors that are unorganized, and you have to buy them EACH with the ingame money which can be an issue because money sort of takes a long time to earn and feels like you don't get very much after. I would really like a system where you can pick an item based off its model and pick the recolors based off of that, as currently it is not organized. 3. PRESETS: There are a total options of 3 presets for rooms and wardrobe, so you can switch between them at any time, which is awesome but I wish there were more because of the amount of customization options there are and I'd like to have characters in different outfits rather than just 1 character in 3 different outfits. I wouldn't imagine it to be too hard to program in since they already have the code. 4. AMBIENT SOUNDS: I wish there were more ambient sounds and some of them were changed, as some of them have too early of a loop and get rather annoying kinda fast (at least to me) as some sounds stick out and I couldn't sleep to those ones. For example the cityscape, the night sound, they're both great for a little bit but then I end up wanting to find ambiance on youtube in a background tab on firefox instead(with adblocker lol, there might be the in app youtube feature but be warned it's full of ads and I can't focus or sleep to it). 5. PET ANIMATIONS are limited. Most of them, most the time, will just be doing their idle animation while staring at the screen uncannily which is a shame because some of the pets like the slime, birds and boba tea tadpoles are so cute but it's just.. weird feeling. Like the early 3d era of pokemon. When there are pet animations though, it is adorable, like Ape-bit and the spider playing games alongside you. I just wish there were more of them because they feel like a rarity and you have to go through all the activities to see which ones they have. Also the recolors are pretty darn cute, the game's worth the money alone because Ape-bit has ones inspired off of irl game consoles. (PLEASE ADD MORE I LOVE THEM) 5. MUSIC: Really cute lofi and chillax, I just wish there was more because it feels like it loops fast and I've heard enough of them. Even if they had to add royalty-free music, I'd be happy with it. Maybe an option to implement your own mp3s as well.

I haven't played this game for long, but it's already helping. As someone with autism, the game is incredibly soft and soothing. I've always loved LoFi music - have for YEARS - and it's always good for calming me down when I feel overstimulated. This game doesn't demand a lot, and it encourages you to go slow. I can have this running in the background while I do chores, it's not intrusive or distracting, and I love the level of design and customization. The spirits are adorable, I love their designs and descriptions, and the music is wonderful. I've tried several mental health or general help apps over the years, and none of them have held my intrigue or attention like this. You can tell the developers care about their community and love their supporters. I wish Spirit City was a real place you could move to, it just feels like a safe haven in a world that feels like it's going mad. I highly recommend anyone give this a try, and consider supporting the devs.
