Jump into a world of quirky fun with this platform game! Sure, the graphics might have a homemade charm, but that's part of its appeal. It's a blast to play and seriously addictive. Definitely worth a shot for some laid-back, enjoyable gaming!

Very fun & refined gameplay. I admittedly suck at a lot of the platforming but it's very satisfying to master it the further you play. Would absolutely recommend!

Over the course of my time on Pep-Pel, I found it to be a very charming, yet challenging action platformer.
Each world is very unique and distinct, bringing a sense of variety in every level. and each one lasts for a LONG time on a first run, and still stay for a good while once you know what you're doing!
The game isn't all perfect, I found some weird collision detection in terms of hazards, as well as movement tech sometimes feeling janky, which doesn't feel great in a game that requires a high level of precision to be able to make it through later levels.
However, I never found these to ruin my experience. On the contrary, it made me only want to get better at the game, embrace the jank, and figure out my own solutions to things, even if they weren't intended!
When I streamed this game, I found myself solving parts of levels in completely unintended ways, and got to hear interesting feedback, and how i was intended to actually do the segment, by the creator herself, which was awesome!
I hope to see more of Pep-Pel, whether she be a DLC appearance in another game, or perhaps a DLC expansion to this game itself!
I think the format of this game, much like Celeste, has a lot more potential then what is currently baked into it, and while I was excited to see it go free-to-play, I'd love to be able to support the creator monetarily in a far more meaningful way.
Whether that be gifting this game to like twenty of my friends (Which i did right before it went free to play, lol. the gifts went through, luckily.), Or buying future titles/DLC!
I'd also love to see the Soundtrack officially released on Steam, perhaps as optional DLC (either free or paid). I'd love to be able to download these songs and play them while I'm going about my day-to-day life!
(EDIT: Okay, so I've learned it is infact, on bandcamp, but I think having it on Steam, if possible, would be cool too!)
Also the costumes were cute! I love the dessert desert one.
If i absolutely had to give this game a rating out of 10, I think I'd give it an 8 as a paid product, and a 9 as a free product.
I can see the beginnings of something absolutely fantastic here, but I would love to see more meat on it's bones!
(Also Robyn did GREAT with the voice work!)

I followed the development of this game on YouTube all while thinking this was supposed to be like Rayman: Origins/Legends. The demo even supports that theory. The demo level is pretty straight-forward and has a good level of challenge without going overboard on the difficulty.
But it's more like Super Meat Boy. It's a rage game with checkpoints slightly too far back, so it wastes hours of your life while you try to beat one section of the level.
The complaint I had about this game before the full version was released is still true. The movement is too floaty and slippery. You can't cancel a hover and changing directions mid-air takes FOREVER so most of the time you're just forced to float into the spikes that are *everywhere*.
Some sections are so inconsistent due to the unpredictability of the movement and the tight spacing of the spikes that it takes hours just to complete one section, with zero reproducibility.
I was mainly anticipating this game's release for the excellent art style and soundtrack, which is still on-point. But I probably have no hope of seeing the entirety of the game due to the insane difficulty.

It's true! Pep-Pel really IS Swell!
I've been following the development for a good while, and it's really cool to see how far it's come.
The game itself is really enjoyable, I like dashing and jumping and quickly comboing into another dash to gain some wicked speed.
Considering this whole game was made by one person is also just amazing, with the exception of some cool voice acting and very catchy music.
Other than that, every art asset and every animation, all the coding, done by one person, and she's done an amazing job.
I'm excited to play more, and speed run some of the levels to get some top times!

I love this game, it's a very addicting and fun to play platformer. For anyone considering picking it up, know that it is very difficult. The later levels demand a very high level of control over your character to do very precise maneuvers (hallmark of a good platformer), and the controls and physics of the game do take a bit of time to get used to. Pep-Pel suffers some of the same problems a game like Sonic the Hedgehog where sometimes directing the character can be confusing when wall running or moving very quickly. That said, while your move set is modest, you'll find a lot of depth in it as you play and progress through the harder stages.
I do have some gripes with the game however, mostly relating to the level design. In most levels, the game rewards you pretty heavily for understanding the mechanics and knowing the layout. You can really build a lot of speed and fly through levels and it feels great every time. However, there are times where the pacing will grind down to a halt where you are forced to proceed with a specific mechanic or you are just forced to wait in general. This is a common pacing issue I have with platformers, however with Pep-Pel, the game controls much better at higher speeds. At lower speeds movement can be very challenging and even confusing sometimes as you fight against your own momentum. This is magnified in the mechanical level that features puzzle like mechanics that you have to work through more slowly. That said, the lows are worth putting up with because the highs are so high.
Pep-Pel actually has an impressive amount of content for the price point in my opinion. Many skins, 8 very long levels with Celeste style B-Side variants, and collectibles in all levels. With the difficulty of the game I think you could definitely squeeze 40+ hours to complete it 100%, which I'm excited to do. Very impressive for a solo-dev release! I hope we will get to see more Pep-Pel in the future, whether it be DLC or a fully featured sequel!

ATTENTION: I can confirm this game works perfectly on Steam Deck, so you can finally have Pep-Pel right in the palms of your hands.
I love to watch this little goblin wizard zooming and zipping around! I especially like the underwater mansion level, the transition between the controls is super tight and she swims so fast.
Also this game has a lot of costumes which is really my only measure of quality for any game I ever play.

ENG: Pep-Pel is a platformer with a lot of personality and variety, each world/level presents different challenges, mechanics that differ from the previous ones. Gameplay is fast and the curved surfaces give that "Sonic" feel, while the high difficulty and consecutive deaths with quick respawns remind what it was experienced in Celeste.
Finally on the technical side there are some rough edges like the spike/surface collisions that kill you, but not so much as to tarnish the gameplay experience.
I recommend it, [strike] also it has a free demo if you are not convinced. [/strike]

[/strike]
