Amazing game, I don't gush over games often but GOD DAMN does this look just so nice and *crisp*, the monochrome graphics just pop out at you and look astonishing, the gameplay's really nice and a great example of how to do a platformer right, frantic boss fights, clever level mechanics and smooth fluid movement that's easy to learn but hard to master. All round a well produced thing, I can't wait to see what Jay's got next in store.

you guys! this game is SUPER fun and platformy! i'm real bad at it, but i had a lot of fun anyway! the movements are really fluid and the mechanics are easy to understand. and! the whole thing is hand-drawn, which is REALLY impressive once you see everything in action. definitely give this game a try if you like platformers (or if you just like supporting indie devs)!!

A fun little platformer that harken back to brutal one-life level design and classic momentum-base movement while all packed up with a cool ink-and-paper style! There's also plenty of levels to play with a variety of environments, enemies, and even boss battles. The accessibility options are also a nice touch (I found it moving quite quickly so slowed down the game speed.) Just a couple points of feedback though: -Consistent crashing after 15 - 20 minutes of play -Restart level feels like a couple seconds too long -An option to adjust SFX volume would've been nice too!

There are 50 levels and 50 remix levels in this game and it was a pretty fun 2d platformer, wasn't amazing but pretty good. I think the developer succeeded in making a more casual 2d precision platformer as the point of this game was not to be as hard as super meat boy or the developers previous game but still offer a decent challenge. My problems was that it took 3 hours to get 200% and its price(understandable as this game was hand drawn, I wonder if the developer drew the same enemies many times or just drew them once and reuse them as it would save so much time). I also like the easter eggs reference to other indie games such as grapple dog for one I love seeing these indie developer collaborate with each other sometimes(cosmetics, easter eggs, npc etc.) Overall not my personal top game but I still recommend it as the developer took 4 years to make and I make this review to help Nekonecro gets more attention and for its worth I still had fun even if its short. 7/10

NekoNecro is an indie retro precision platformer. It's graphics are hand drawn in a comic book style, with a little bit of Yoshi's Island thrown into the mix. You'll run, jump, and pounce your way through multiple worlds and 50 levels. I bought this due to following the developer's and publisher's YouTube channels, and wanting to continue to support an independent project. PROS + The graphics are amazing. The visual style is distinct and memorable. You can tell it's hand drawn. + As with the developer's previous outing (Quickly, Quackley), the difficulty curve here is excellent. Core concepts are expertly introduced and built upon throughout the game. + The soundtrack is great, and fits well with the game's lighthearted, cartoon style. CONS - NekoNecro is a short game. I'm at just over 3 hours, and I suspect going back to grab all the collectibles will put me at 4.5 - 5 hours, tops. - Hand drawn graphics include hand drawn backgrounds and foregrounds. Sometimes it is hard to differentiate when there is a lot going on. (Backgrounds can be turned off) NITPICKS & YMMV ~ I really with the down button had a ducking animation, not for gameplay reasons, but after a hard stretch, I want to duck up and down to celebrate my victory. ~ Annoyingly, some of the optional collectibles are placed before checkpoints, and they are only collected by clearing the level. So if you hit a checkpoint, you might have to restart the level. I'd recommend this if you are looking for a short, sweet platformer with a unique visual style. Though there isn't too much replayability, you might just want to revisit this game for its style alone.

Cute bite-size platformer that doesn't get overly demanding :) The hand drawn black and white graphics are really striking, thinking about the amount of work that went into drawing every single onscreen thing is incredible

Sadly steam forces me to either give a thumbs up or thumbs down. And while NekoNecro is certainly a solid platformer, it feels like a game directly from the early flash game era. Which is its greatest feature and flaw, because it's just super basic. Maybe 15 years ago this would have been an impressive game, but like today this is just another platformer. A list of minor annoyances that are ... well ... very minor, but make me question why I'm playing this instead of another game that gets these right: * Respawning takes 2 seconds, which is too long for a game in which you can die within a quarter of a second. * Even after finishing the whole game (200%) I still don't know why sometimes you get no vertical boost when dashing into an enemy, although this is often very important to climb some places or clear some gaps. * I also keep dying because I try to jump on enemies to kill them, but that's not a thing, you have to dash through them (I'll admit that's my own fault, but most enemies look so squishable). * And some questionable things, like one is just dropped into the first stage without any tutorial. I was very confused if I missed something? It's not very complicated, but at least show me the buttons I'm supposed to press! For what it's worth, I liked the music a lot. The optional harder challenges are indeed challenging, but again nothing to write home about. Although the game doesn't do much wrong, there is sadly no reason for me to recommend this game over any other platformer, because it just doesn't do much at all.
