The game definitely provides a deeper and darker experience than one might think from looking at the screenshots and video.

I've been enjoying the game, its a familiar genre that has some of it's own uniqueness, also. There are definitely a lot of interesting cards that make you want to build a strategy around them.
The equipment and character leveling systems allow you to customize your character to the deck's strengths. Currently you collect the souls after defeating enemies, and spend them to level up different areas of your character's stats and equipment, but "leveling" doesn't always do something. You just spend some amount of souls to progress a bar or level toward the next stat point gain. You can spend a bunch of souls and not improve your character in any way, and it seems like it would feel better if you just paid in increments of actual gains. That is, I think you should just increase the cost of leveling things to whatever a full point would cost, or add in some intermediate bonuses so that levleing a character stat or piece of equipment always results in becoming more powerful, even if it is a very minor boost. Equipment seems to be limited to one ability, and leveling it just slowly scales a stat boost to one card type, which also feels underwhelming. Also, it would be nice if it was more clear how these things were helping you. I know that all sounds negative, but I feel like it just needs tweaked a little bit, not completely overhauled.
I did experience several bugs, cards or abilities not triggering, cards added to the deck not actually being in the deck, despite showing up on the deck screen. There's even buttons to wishlist the game, which feels odd when you already bought the game and are supposedly playing the full version of it. Lot's of little things like this that you would expect to see in early access, but I would hope these are all known issues and will be sorted out soon.
None of the above spoils the fun of the game, I still enjoyed playing despite these things, however there was one thing that happened that I did want to talk about, which felt like a serious issue. I've only played a few runs at this point, but it seems like you get a somewhat randomized starting deck each time, and the last run I played the starting deck was SO powerful that adding any cards to it would have made it worse, so I just kept taking souls instead of cards, and defeated most enemies INCLUDING THE FINAL BOSS on turn 1. While it was great fun to watch my absolutely busted character obliterate everything, I have to think that this was not how it was meant to go. My other playthoughs were nothing like this. The deck in question was almost entirely cards with the ability where they get played when discarded (sorry, I forgot the keyword) Adding anything to the deck without this ability or without the ability to draw/discard more stuff felt wrong, and I simply removed the one card that didn't have that ability on it. It was awesome to behold the deck in action, but the fact that I just started with this deck and didn't actually build it did take away from the satisfaction.

It is rather boring and a random battle with simple units was way harder than the sub boss before it.
The story makes no sense and the writing and use of English is pretty bad.
Gameplay is meh, kind of uninspiring.
Was ok for an hour of play, but won't be revisiting it.

The game teaches you not to become overconfident if something comes easy to you at first

A lot of fun if you enjoy deckbuilders. Scant tutorial but fairly intuitive once you get rolling. Different classes have enough variance to make new runs feel interesting. I enjoy Slay the Spire, Monster Train, and Gwent, and this helps scratch that sort of itch!

Overall a fun little deck builder.
The souls elements give it a unique feel from other rouge-like deck builders. The story is interesting and engaging enough to encourage a few playthroughs.
It is a pretty short experience to complete all endings. I am an experienced deck-builder player and it only took me about 8 hours to unlock all the cards and get the different game endings and I don't think it offers too much more after this.
If you are happy to have an enjoyable 8ish hour experience for the price, then it's definitely worth picking up

Don't miss out on this gem if you are after a chill game that you can relax and take your time with. So many hidden gems in the narrating and story tells me this is a game made by a gamer, just like me :D
Truly enjoyable and I love that you can exit and pick it up right where you left off at any time.

it took me a while to get used to the way combat works, but then you fly through battles like a knife through butter
sometimes it's a dull knife

good art and a decent plot (though it seems a bit confusing)
some mechanics of the game are quite interesting
the problem is that it won't be easy for beginners, but it's definitely worth a try
