This is one of the shiniest of hidden indie gems I’ve ever stumbled across. It’s a delightfully offbeat and remarkably original puzzle platformer, with not just one but a whole host of gorgeous art styles. The protagonist is an inter-dimensional traveller who’s bouncing around parallel universes. Each new destination/level is hand-drawn or painted in a different artistic medium, giving each place on our hero’s fantastical travels a unique look, feel and tone. Along with the striking new art styles, every level introduces a new story - and each story is embedded within the wider overall narrative- and new mechanics, which keeps the otherwise simple puzzle platforming fresh and invigorating. It’s not a challenging game, nor are the mechanics especially original; it’s the sheer joy and wonder of the journey, and how the mechanics are implemented into each of the worlds and stories, that makes this game so very special. And it’s all so tactile. The creator’s hand is present and visible. I often found myself marvelling at the wondrous creativity and ingenious craft at play, even as I lost myself in the lovingly conjured-up fictional world(s). It plays surprisingly well too, the controls more than responsive enough to help you flow through the beautiful environments without any friction. And it all comes together so elegantly at the end.

This game is part of what I like to call the Micah Boursier experience.
By itself, it’s a short (3-4 hours) beautifully handcrafted puzzle platformer. It’s an artistically satisfying game on its own merits, but when you play his other two games as well, BirdGut and Poco (both free by the way), you get this whole mysterious package wrapped up in short games from the very talented mind of Micah Boursier. This is what I would tell anyone who would complain about the price of this game. This man, and his team in the case of Poco, gifted us two pieces of the experience free. Buy this game and play all three to get the whole experience. It’s weird and delightful!
It is very clear that Micah is first and foremost an artist, THEN a developer. Not a developer, then an artist. If you go into this experience with that in mind, you’ll really enjoy it. This to me is what playing indie games is all about.
On a side note, the soundtrack is straight fire! I loved the themes of each of the worlds.
100% Achievement Completion Perspective:
You need to aim for completing most of the achievements in order to delve into the deeper mysteries of this experience. It’s worth it, especially with how short the game is.
