I wish I had read the reviews first, had I known this supported gender delusion I wouldn't have supported the developer. Was interesting, too bad I couldn't go three pages without more gender delusion.

Interesting story and characters, good prose, and a unique setting. With the exception of the abrupt ending, I liked it a lot!

Awesome game, filled with historical Persian detail (Yes, I had to look up a lot of words; that's the advantage of a text-based thing. But if you don't want to do that, this game is maybe not for you.) and hard decisions. You can take some wildly diverging paths that give the game a lot of replayability.

This is an interesting setting, to be sure. But I spent a bunch of time having to go and open the glossary to get even the slightest idea of what some of the words in the text meant. It broke any possibility of a sense of immersion in the story, being confused about a reference to lore or something as simple as a form of address. The characters are not particularly likeable, and you're supposed to side with the revolutionaries without much reason to do so. Your ne'er-do-well brother needs your help but doesn't seem to merit any sense of loyalty. Your employer demands absolute trust after knowing you less than a day. You get an achievement "bootlicker" for breaking up a fantasy-world opium den. Like, I didn't really ask for my character to be a cop and I didn't realize when I started that being a cop was part of the story, but if it's clearly explained that failures to enforce the law will result in heavy consequences for everyone including innocent folks, so I don't feel like it's being a bootlicker to arrest a bunch of drug dealers. The point where I lost my patience was being told how attractive my character found some random nepobaby with a mustache. I don't love being told what I think, particularly being told whether I like or am attracted to someone. Don't tell me I like a character. Give me reasons to like them and accept that maybe I still won't.
