I usually do not write reviews for a few months after the game is out because I want to give the devs a fair shot at keeping all the promises they make about game support. I think a dev who is too silent or too busy right at the start of a game release are both bad signs. One shows lack of care, the other shows signs of early burn out and a need to please people too much too early. This dev was latter of the two. He promised the world for this game and then disappeared. No longer responds to any discussions, hasnt had a patch or update in months, and hasnt fixed any bugs or ongoing controller support issues that players have been asking about over and over. The one thing though that bothers me the most is that he isnt around to monitor trolls or bullies in the discussion area. People are not getting updates or any explanation of game mechanics that are crucial to game play. (Red Pixel, hidden perks, how upgrades work, and many more). So because of this, people feel they can be hurtful or rude to players who have questions that are valid. If the dev was there in the discussion area, to clear up these questions, and to flush out the trolls responding on the dev's behalf in their own rude way.........people wouldnt be requesting a refund left and right. Until the game gets the attention I paid for....I wont change my review.

Looking at the trailer for this game is so deceptive. The shallow weapon animations and simpler art style are legitimately the worst part of this game. It's a seriously fun reverse bullet hell.
It has almost all the mechanics you probably know from Vampire Survivors, and it does a great job of iterating on them and adding its own touches. For example, there's a loose story you follow that adds a little depth to the game, and rather than doing all your progression via a menu after the round, you have a kind of keep you return to where you interact with NPCs there to help you with your quest; unlocking new levels is done with the help of a magician who can conjure portals, for example. It just feels very lovingly and thoughtfully crafted.
The progression feels really good, both overall, and per stage. Weapons evolve and synergize with each other, adding some strategy elements (like making sure you balance long and short range, and fast and slow weapons). There are also different upgrade paths for each weapon that can make a big difference in how they play; plus each weapon has a damage type that you can get modifiers for, like a buff if you have a tool, magic item, and physical weapon.
I've only got a little over an hour in the game so far, but it's one of a couple reverse bullet hell's I've tried that I had a hard time putting down.

Game has NOT been abandoned. Dev went radio silent for quite a while but came back with a pretty big update... that broke my save file 🙃. Still it's a good game and worth playing.

Among all the "survivors"-games I've played this is one of the better ones. It's got good progession and a variety of classes/characters to play as, each with their own active abilities.
If you like games like "Vampire Survivors", "Nomad Survival", "Holocure" and the like; then there's a good chance you like this game as well!

Great game! The Survivors genre is off to a great start and this one seems like another winner.
Edit: The more I play it the more I like it. While clearly the same type of game as Vampire Survivors, I don't feel bored like I've done it all before when I play this. If you were/are addicted to Vampire Survivors, you'll be addicted to this. Highly recommend.

I'll be honest: that artstyle, that name, that title art, even the font used. Everything made me think this would be a low effort Vampire Survivors clone that does nothing other than adding a +1 to the waves of bullet heaven titles on Steam. As I keep playing this, I realize this pretty far from the truth. While the presentation is nothing special, it has this endearing 8-bit JRPG vibe to it, with the game hub featuring characters you can sort of interact with to gamble money, buy armor and weapons (as opposed to the more classic permanent upgrade of stats), hire new fighters, and most importantly pet a cute doggo. And then there's the combat, which again isn't anything too remakrable on a technical level and somewhat slow with scattered enemies hard to crowd control, but the variety of weapons, the active and passive skills, the varied loot and more give a solid variety. The various levels themselves have traps appear randomly, weather effects and more that can drastically alter a fight's outcome. While hardly the most mechanically satisfying bullet heaven out there, it still offers a take unique enough to worth a try for hardcore fans of the genre like me.

Neat little game in the Vampire Survivors vein, well-polished with a decent variety of weapons, and a bunch of stage effects which mix things up and stop the game from feeling completely static from one run to the next. Lots of equipment and other stuff to unlock and level up, and additional bonusses from levelling up individual characters and stages means there's always an incentive to keep going and doing just one more run. Developer is super active as well and constantly pushing out balance tweaks, QOL updates and new features.

Having fun with this one. Pixel graphics are well-made and detailed. A good number of spells already and 12 different characters to choose from (different starting spells, stats). Equipment system adds stat/passive changes to mix it up and everything can be levelled up the more you play (even the maps!).

Fun game that has gotten stale due to lack of updates. Dev has kinda stalled out and I fear this game isn't going to see its form it has the potential for.
