I picked this up on sale without knowing much about it, and was absolutely blown away.
The core drilling mechanic is fun on its own, but its the ways in which the levels expand on that mechanic that really make the game shine. Virtually every level introduces some creative new mechanic—guns that attach to your drill, vehicles you can drive, hooks you can swing on, and more, and more, and more. The game never feels stale for a second.
The boss fights were a particularly surprising gem. Each one is unique and challenging, with the final boss in particular being an absolute triumph, sending the game out on a sparkling high note. Not only that, but the art is gorgeous and the music is bumping.
I really had only two issues: the swinging-in-circles-around-a-hook mechanic was a bit unintuitive, and there could stand to be a few more checkpoints.
Honestly, my biggest wish is that the game was a bit longer (though if this length is what it takes to get this amount of polish, I'll take it).

Great game with fun gameplay. it can be a bit difficult at times but nothing too hard. Except for the first and final boss. Other than that its a short and sweet platformer.

Short and Sweet - Just how i like it!
While the mechanics are what initially pulled me into the game, it's pacing is what kept me playing!
Pepper Grinder doesn't overstay it's welcome, as it's perfectly scaled towards it's complexity.
It never goes crazy with it's mechanics. You pretty much "get" the game after just 15 minutes. If they had made this a platformer with 100 levels i would have absolutely not finished it. It's just not "deep" enough for that.
BUT: The developers knew what they were working with, and so with just 4 worlds, each of which have 1 boss and about 4-5 levels, the game has the perfect length to where i came out of it perfectly satisfied with what i played, without having that "Ughhh it's dragging on now" feeling.
Took me 3 Hours to finish the game (I skipped one level, and didn't hunt ALL secret coins) and i'm very satisfied with that.
My only buying-advice would be, to buy the game on Sale. I feel like 8-10 bucks is a very fair price, while for 15 bucks i would've considered it a bit too pricey.

Pepper Grinder is a wonderful little game that is brimming with fun ideas. It's interest in throwing a new mechanic at you only to drop it minutes later means you are always on your toes for the four hour runtime. Each level is a joy to explore with vibrant locales and enemies filled with personality.
The core drilling mechanic feels crunchy, satisfying and has that beautiful age old combination of easy to learn but hard to master, you'll find yourself going back to attempt previous levels with new found skills you develop from your time handling the drill. This is also something the game welcomes and expects, with time trial challenges for every stage waiting for you to get the perfect time.
For anyone looking for a bit more longevity out of Pepper Grinder there is collectable stickers for your album which require a full completion of the game and all it's time trials, along with collectable skull coins to complete. Skull coins can also be used to customize (recolour) the titular Pepper character to your liking through shops spread throughout the world map.
The games bosses also provide a good roadblock of challenge at the end of each world, forcing you to learn patterns and take risks to beat down the baddies before you lose all your health. All of them have a decent bit of leway and can almost certainly be perfected judging by the time trial medal times for them!
The bassy soundtrack and enthusiastic drill noises carry the sound presentation here. and towards the end of the game the sound of you tearing through enemies will bring joy to your ears as you pull off yet another satisfying manoeuvre.
Overall I thought this game was an asbsolute delight from beginning to end and recommend to any platformer enthusiasts, especially those keen on mastering mechanics to achieve better times!
Cheers to Ahr Ech! I loved it and can't wait to see what you make next!

I really wanted to love this game, but the grappling mechanic really killed the fun for me and brought things to a *grinding* halt. Seriously, who thought of the controls for the grappling? It's' awful.
The aesthetic and music is really fun, and I enjoy the fast paced drilling parts, but it's overall not worth it for $15.

presentation is phenomenal
soundtrack is great
central mechanic is satisfying to use, especially once you get good at it
level gimmicks are very fun, with a few misses
doesn't overstay its welcome
the cyclops is cute
bosses are not very engaging
a few bugs here and there
the shop feels a tad pointless. the health buff implementation felt off
it's definitely worth your time if you like what you see in the trailer

Fun game, short and sweet. The movement feels really great. My one gripe is that the boss fights aren't very good. The best part of the game is when you're fluidly zipping through the level, but the bosses stop you in your tracks.

I love the movement! And the art is really cool. But the difficulty is too much for me. I can't get past the first boss fight, lol. I think a lot of people would be able to beat the boss with some effort. I really wish the game had difficulty options (or even an option for unlimited health) because I really enjoy the movement. There's only an option to slow the game speed, and I still died every time. Still, recommend to folks who enjoy a challenging platformer.

As seen by my review score, I recommend this game, but the end of the game left me with a sour taste.
Generally the game can be divided into 2 types of gameplay, the level gameplay and the boss gameplay.
On the level gameplay, each level has some different variation to make it unique but generally its based on a relatively fast paced movement together with some light enemies/obstacles blocking the path.
The bosses, on the other hand are more of a "turn" based game - you have to escape the boss's attacks and then you attack them.
This worked well enough for the first three bosses, in my opinion, as none of them were too spammy in their attacks - but the final boss
and its second phase
were very spammy. Added that the bosses are sometimes immune without it being clear and then you don't have such a nice experience anymore.
For reference I played this game fully on keyboard and beat the gold times for the first world as well. As the game suggests on the first boot/on steam, this game is probably better experienced with a controller - but I dont have access to one. Unless you think you'll really be a fan of this type of game or own a controller - I don't fully recommend it, try it for 2 hours and if you barely like it, return it. Otherwise it'll probably be a good fit for your tastes/a nice experience.

The mechanics seem cool and fluid, but the gameplay is more frustrating than anything - especially the bosses.
