Excellent and visually pretty platformer. Movement largely feels very great and it's only occasionally frustrating toward the end. The frustrations are fixed by getting good. Not a fan of the shmup mosquito sections though. Time played is off because I mostly played offline.

I was thoroughly impressed by the game's stunning visuals and polished presentation. However, I found 100%ing it to be more frustrating than challenging, largely due to the slightly floaty controls and what I consider to be lazy level design. The abundance of autoscrolling sections also detracted from my enjoyment. While this game's exceptional production quality makes it hard to recommend against, there are better playing platformers out there

One of the best 2D Platformers of all time that is unfortunately owned by one of the worst companies at the same time.
I love Rayman Origins, but the PC Port is a mess:
1. If you play on KBM specifically, the game has constant frame drops for *every* input you make no matter your specs, which straight up make the game near unplayable. The only fix I found all over the internet for this was to emulate a Xbox 360 controller, which is ridiculous.
2. Getting controllers to actually be detected by the game and setting up Remote Play Together is a nightmare. Every player has to use *entirely different keybinds*, even if you have 2 of the same controller.
3. The intro cutscenes are extremely low quality compared to the console versions (which you can switch with some file swaps). Not that big of a deal but still felt like mentioning
4. Not necessarily an issue with the game itself, but it integrates no steam features at all: No achievements, no trading cards, it doesn't even have proper thumbnails in the steam library. Same story for Legends.
The only upside is no forced third-party launcher crap, unlike Legends. Fuck you Ubisoft

Classic Rayman game at its finest. I think this version deserves a quality of life update, since it has not been updated to a more modernized version ever since. Also, I think having Steam Achievements would make this game well worth playing for 100% completion. Still a great game overall, but I feel Ubisoft should give it a little more attention and some polishing fixes (I know they won't, but here's to hoping).

First time actually finishing this game in like 10 years, feels cathartic. game's really fun its a fun platformer that can get pretty hard towards the end but if you have 10 or so hours to kill it will be worth it. My go to rayman game ~ 🐀
A simple but fun platformer
When I was younger, I remember watching a let's play of Rayman Origins, but I have always wanted to try out the game at least. With the game being on Steam, I finally had the chance to experience it to its fullest and I had a lot of fun. As someone who loves playing platformers, Rayman Origins is a game that I really loved to play, as it nails everything that I love about them.
Pros and Cons

A simple but charming story

Fun platforming-based gameplay

Multiple characters that you can play as

Lots of collectibles that you can go and find

Unique upgrades that spice up the gameplay

Nice and colorful art style
Cons

The issues were so minor that they did not meddle with my experiences
Story
The story starts out with Rayman, Gloobox, and some Teensies, who are all sleeping at the Snoring Tree. Thanks to a hidden microphone disguised as a flower, Gloobox’s snoring was going through it, and the people from the Land of the Livid Dead were bothered by it. So you know instead of going to Rayman and his friends to quiet down, covering the mic or maybe finding a way to turn it off. They all decide to launch an invasion on The Glade of Dreams, capture Rayman and his friends, and imprison the Nymphs. Now that’s a petty way to start an invasion.

The story for Rayman Origins is very simple yet charming and I like that, sometimes having a simple story is fine. That’s something I like, a nice colorful platformer with a simple story that I can sit back and enjoy.
Gameplay
Rayman Origins is a simple platformer and it’s very fun, you go from point A to point B, getting collectibles and taking out enemies. During the levels, you will come across Lums, which are used to get Electoons at the end of each level. However, Electoons can also be found in the levels, to find them you need to find these secret doors. Upon entering the door, you will need to take out all enemies to break this shield. You will then be able to free the Electoons that are trapped in there, you need Electoons to beat the game, as they help build bridges so you can get to the final level of the world you are in for the final level of that world.
Each level has a certain amount of Electoons for you to collect, usually, there are at least three for you to get in the level. You can find at least three of them in the levels, one will always be at the end of the level, while you have to find two of them in the levels behind hidden doors. You can get two more by collecting a certain amount of Lums, and you can get one by beating the level in a certain amount of time with a speed challenge. However, to get that one you will need to beat the level at least once and then you get access to its speed challenge. Electoons are also used to unlock more characters, I only really ever used Rayman, so I have no idea if any of the other characters have any differences to them.

There are also a lot of collectibles for you to go out and find and if you are someone who likes to go out and find everything in the game or get 100% completion. Then I think Rayman Origins will be a great game for you. The game can also be a little challenging at times, Rayman Origins is not the hardest game I have played but some moments made me get stuck a few times.
There are also a few power-ups that you can get, once you free a Nymph, they will give Rayman or whichever character you are playing. You get abilities like being able to swim (which might not seem much but you couldn’t do it in the previous games) or being able to glide in the air. They do spice up the gameplay in some unique ways that make the levels shine and I do like how they were done, despite being simple.
Graphics and Performance
I really do love the game's art style—it’s colorful, and I love how the levels were designed, especially Sea of Serendipity, Where the colors of the sea and everything around it were just so nice to look at and I feel that the games art style shines on there the most. I tested the game on an NVIDIA GeForce GTX 1060 3GB and 16 GB of RAM. I had no issues while playing, and the game ran well for me.
Final Verdict
Rayman Origins is a very fun and simple platformer that I enjoyed very much. If you are looking for a fun platformer to play or are a fan of the Rayman series, then I do believe that Rayman Origins would be a good purchase for you. I found no issues while playing, and I tried, but I really could not find anything. I do hope that one day Ubisoft will port more Rayman games in the future as I do think these games are really good.
