Granted, I have pretty strong VR legs, the movement is spectacular but I can see how it might bother some players.
The core gameplay is solid, I feared combat might get repetitive fast but it actually got more fun after I acquired a certain piece of equipment. Highly recommend!

I completed this game in just over 28 hours and must say this was one epic adventure I wasn’t expecting! The closest comparison I can make is that it felt like Half Life 2 and Borderlands had a baby. The baby was born autistic however. Allow me to explain.
The visuals
This is very much an indie game through and through, which is not necessarily bad, just don’t go into this expecting amazing visuals, lighting and particle effects, as you will be disappointed. That’s not to say the game doesn’t look good visually, but the simplified art style does make the game feel like it was designed for mobile rather than PC.
The gameplay
The ‘indie’ vibes carry over into the gameplay as well but for me, this is where the game truly shines. This game isn’t afraid to take risks, innovate and push the boundaries of VR. There’s a really fun grapple mechanic as well as innovative wall run ability where you move your hands to build momentum. I grew to really like it although admittedly, it did feel awkward at first. There’s also a slide which I didn’t use quite as much but it works well enough. Throwing grenades never felt good and made me not want to use them. The weapons are all distinct, powerful and fun to use. They look fantastic as well. You can upgrade your main weapon with various attachments such as lazer scopes etc. which is very nice. My only gripe is the AI. Many times the enemies will just sit there waiting to be shot. Funny enough I may have not made it through this game had they put up more of a fight. The bosses have a bit more movement and try and flank you but overall they weren’t all that memorable. Lastly I must mention the driving as there is a lot of it. It was the weakest aspect for me and I did not enjoy it perhaps because the vehicle felt too weightless. I didn’t get motion sick but I could see that being an issue for some.
The story
The story is decent and kept me interested throughout with a ton of lore scattered throughout the world on audio tapes and notes. Occasionally your character even has flashbacks which adds additional insights as well. In addition, the voice acting is well delivered and can be pretty funny at times. I wish the boss fights were a bit more engaging but they just felt like slightly modified NPCs with different move sets. The environmental story telling brings it all together and you can find little details in the graffiti as well as other cool animations and cut scenes. A highlight for me was some of the epic vistas you are presented with. The environments are large with a ton of verticality, platforming and exploration. They are so large, it’s easy to get lost.
The verdict
The one caveat I will add to this positive review is that the game is difficult to progress through at times as it doesn’t hold your hand and you can occasionally find yourself lost. There are also glitches and bugs that may impede progress as well and although frustrating, it’s never too difficult to reload a previous save. Unfortunately, there were several times I had to watch playthroughs to confirm if I was lost or if the game glitched and sadly, more often than not, it was the latter. Nevertheless, I highly recommend this game to anyone who enjoyed Half Life, Vertigo or Borderlands. There’s are some truly epic moments to be had and it’s very much worth your time if you can pick it up on sale.
