Incredibly fun roguelite FPS—a true hidden gem. Don't let the starting stages fool you; the level design improves significantly, and the first biome serves more as an onboarding period for Voidborn. Once you beat the boss of the second biome, you unlock a shortcut that offers an alternative starting stage—much shorter and way more fun. Voidborn has a very striking visual style, and the trailers sell it a bit short. It looks much better “live,” and there’s a nice variety in level design. I just wish the enemies were as varied, since you end up fighting a lot of the same-looking “blob heads.” Gunplay and movement are super tight (in the best way), and your character feels great to control. Voidborn nails something many shooters struggle with: enemy and weapon feedback. There's a satisfying 'hit stop' and flash effect when you land hits. It feels amazing to nail a headshot, parry an attack, or deflect a projectile. Another thing Voidborn gets right—something many FPS games fumble—is the boss fights. Not all of them, mind you; the first few are a bit meh, more like minibosses that are just elite versions of standard enemies. But starting from the City biome, it’s all absolute bangers. These fights demand mastery of both movement and combat and are accompanied by some incredible tunes. Every major boss fight feels like a full-blown spectacle. Speaking of music—just like the level design, it really steps up after the starting zone. It's this punchy mix of metal and electronic, with a touch of psychedelic. I absolutely love it and wish it were available for purchase on Steam or, at the very least, streaming on Spotify. It took me around 8 hours to finish Voidborn, and I definitely got my money’s worth—and then some. I highly recommend it to any fan of movement shooters or FPS roguelites. Sure, it doesn't put its best foot forward right away, but once it gets going, it’s a rush. I can’t wait to play the next game from Xekvera—it’s already available to wishlist on Steam and is called Hallow Blade. It looks incredible and seems to be aiming for more of a King’s Field vibe.

Glorious art direction, fist-pumping music, great gameplay blueprint. If you like roguelites or movement shooters, you should at least try it.

This game is definetely very underrated, while it has a couple of quirks and it shows where it got its inspirations from REALLY obviously, i think in a way that makes it more... "personal"? I do have a couple problems with the game though, here's a quick list: -No graphics settings -A couple of glitches with clipping into stuff but nothing game breaking -No buffering on the slide if you're in the air -The slide feels a little stiff sometimes -The deflect being a seperate button rather than being tied to the punch makes it not worth using -Sometimes it's really hard trying to understand where you're supposed to go Other than these tho, really fun game, worth the purchase 👍

Very fun game, has a well made gameplay loop, fun rogue like aspects and bonus points for just being a boomer shooter

Once you get the core mechanics of this game down, it becomes really satisfying to play. Wonderfully balanced as well. I hadn't encountered any game breaking bugs in my time playing although there were a few minor ones such as enemies spawning in random places they shouldn't. Even if you're not a fan of mastering game mechanics for progression you can just shoot your gun and get through most the game while having an incentive to explore beyond the confines of that if you so choose.

Huge gaamebreaking bug: your guns just... don't shoot a lot of the time. I thought for a WHILE that there was some mechanic I was missing, nope, this just kinda happens. And the game looks and feels pretty good to play too! but its MADDENING trying to get the gun to fire sometimes. Also, why is this a roguelike? It feels kinda slapped on.

The gameplay feels fantastic but the one thing that frustrates me is that sometimes the weapons won't shoot at mobs and bosses which ultimately ends up me spamming my orb skill. It's kinda dealbreaker for me to keep playing this game until they fix this bug.
