Main problems with the game
1 - Its T O O S L O W
2 - Character death during a campaign
3 - Not enough XP gains nor damage dealt making the game flow really slowly from beat to beat
4 - There's this gross as fuck motion blur effect at the edge of the screen that's just distracting
The concept is solid (Diablo skinned Hoard Survivors is a fun idea) but somehow the messy presentation, the death of your playable roster as you move through "the campiagn" is annoying and feels pointlessly bleak, and just like this was a cash grab at chasing the coat tails of a more successful yet simple concept. If they can tighten up those 4 points, I think this could be something special. Otherwise, stay far away from this one.

Like others have said, could definitely use some work but overall a good foundation for a VS clone! One aspect of this game that i like more than VS is the character and enemy sprites, great work with those! Definitely needs more information on weapon upgrades, and definitely needs some other type of upgrades besides only weapons and magnet. Certain weapons such as the knife don't feel great either because while you can shoot vertical, at a standstill you only shoot horizontal. Overall worth it so far and excited to see what updates you have in store!

*** PROUD TO BE THIS GAMES FIRST REVIEW HERE ON STEAM ***
Yeah, Yeah, I know you're looking at this game and probably thinking "Oh this is just a rip off scam of Vampire Survivors"and yes this game is much like that game. However, this game is unique enough to stand out on it own, and most importantly, it's SUPER FUN! ..When you can get a great little game like this (or Vampire Survivors) for just $3 USD, that's a WIN period!

This game oozes with both replay-ability, fun, and content... and it's only in early access with tons of new stuff promised in the coming months! In my opinion, this game is already worth $10 or even more, so just $3 for this is a STEAL!
If you like games like this, if you love Vampire Survivors, then this game is a MUST-BUY! ..Enough said!
MY SCORE: 95% (Zaxtors Indie Gold)
HIGHLY RECOMMENDED & A "MUST BUY" IF YOU LIKE VAMPIRE SURVIVORS!

Nah. It's like Vampire Surivors, but like.. 1/10th as good. The other reviews talk about "potential" and.. yeah, sure. But the game today isn't really worth even 3 bucks. Claims in discussion and reviews about this being unique and standing apart from VS are completely lacking in specifics, and my experience actually playing the game hasn't enlightened me about how it is in any way different, let alone better than VS.
You start with 5 characters, 4 weapons (plus one of which is determined by your character) with no originality; dagger, axe fire wand and cross.. oops, dagger, hammer, fireball, and scythe with a character weapon that is whip, whip, dagger, bad peachone and summon. err. Axe, hammer, crossbow, vial and summon. Your one and only accessory is attractorb err collector.
After 20-30 minutes you're told the EA story is done, and you unlock endless mode. Once you do, you can run endless mode (but only with the two characters you DIDN'T use in story mode for some insane reason), and are told when you die that you unlocked.. some icon. but they aren't unlocked when you go into the next endless game, the unlocks on the main menu is grayed out and you still have only 4 weapons + character weapon in game. Runes is also on the main menu, but completely barren and not hooked up to anything as far as I could tell after an hour.
There are also a bunch of questionable at best and stupid at worst design choices: The maps have edges and are actually very small, making it all too easy to run into the end of the world when surrounded and just die. the edges are invisible, too, so your first indicator that you're approaching one is the camera not centering on you anymore, which is definitely not obvious enough. You have no invincibility frames after getting hit, and enemies can get "stuck" on you if you don't immediately go in exactly the opposite direction when you hit one - this can cause instant death from full health if they latch on and just hit several dozen times over 1-2 seconds. In general, deaths don't feel like they were because you took a risk so much as unfair BS.
When you level up, your ability charge up times are reset - leveling up at the wrong time can actually kill you if you're focused on longer charge up abilities that only go off after several seconds. Also, when you level up an ability, it is completely unclear what benefit you'll actually get. More projectiles? shorter/longer charge times? more damage? You'll never know until you pick one - the game only shows one damage number (current? new?) and no other stats. Actually, you probably won't even know after picking unless you're counting projectiles and that's what changed; there's not really weapon stats anywhere. In general, your decision making is based on at best incomplete information, making it feel pretty frustrating.
Listen, it's 3 bucks, it didn't crash in the hour I played (the only bug was that it reset the fullscreen setting on every launch), and you can see all the actual content in 30 minutes or less, so you can easily buy it and refund it. but honestly, if you haven't 100%'d VS, just go do that instead.

There is literally less than 30 minutes of content in this game. Nothing to unlock. No rewards for finishing a stage. Dont waste your money, this is a cash grab.

You character forcibly stops when they attack. This makes the whole game slow and clunky, repeatedly breaking game flow. Constantly stutter-stepping around makes the whole experience feel like the game is lagging; completely ruins the experience in a reverse-bullet-hell game.

This game has an exciting bullet hell felling to it. The waves of enemies quickly become challenging. I love to see the community driven development. Super Demon Survivors keeps you moving, easy to hop in and fun to play!

The game seems to be put out a little too early. About 30 min of content when I played, but it seems like the devs will be updating it regularly. Will change my rating if I feel it has a bit more to it.

The Dev has left this mess in its current state....its pretty bad since it was a VS clone...figure that model would be pretty well known....and there are so many better ones out there.

I definitely think that the game is worth the asking price and I do really feel there is potential here. Its a solid game with solid mechanics and a sound base to build on so far but definitely needs some degree of balancing. Its early access so I cannot be overly critical of things like that at this point as they are likely to change rapidly. Its a fun game and if you like vampire survivors, you will most likely find something here to enjoy. I do have some criticisms of the gameplay as it stands at this point in time though. Things feel painfully slow regarding movement. Stages only have a 5 minute timer, are rather empty, and everything moves at the pace of nearly frozen molasses. I feel rather bored while playing so far, especially compared to how tense things can get in Vampire Survivors or Boneraiser. I like the weapons that currently exist, though more variety would be great and leveling up the weapons currently does not feel very rewarding. Things change rather dramatically as weapons level in VS and Boneraiser so it feels rewarding. Things just feel permanently slow here. Again, I do like the game and it is very early so there is plenty of time to change things and balance things. You could wait and see how things go with development but I say just buy the game, its worth it.
