Saints Row IV: Re-Elected Reviews

Game quite literally does not work. Can't get past the character creation menu without this game legit blue screening my pc. Absolutely INSANE how anyone let this PC port past the QA phase.

Having a blast with this game so far! movement is really enjoyable and fast paced and it doesnt feel like a drag to play through which surprised me. Story is quirky and over the top outrageous but the game doesnt take itself seriously and thats what you need to keep in mind while playing this to have fun. my only down side for this game is that it is basically just SR 3 but with a different coat of paint, that being you just having super powers. Everything is reused from the previous game and thats where the issues come from. You have no reason to have a personal car in this game (you are literally faster when you run with super speed) or upgrade your gang members since its a waste of money and time. You are powered up to a point where those gameplay mechanics just slow you down in the long run. That makes it blatantly obvious that this game is mostly old reused assets with no changes put into to make them work with the new gameplay, at that point why even have them in the game.

This game used to be great but now it freezes frequently. I enabled the steam beta to get the legacy version of this game so I wouldn't have to connect to the retarded epic online services. Not sure if that is causing the freezing or if it is because I have newer hardware than what the game was written for. I've put the game into compatibility mode for winXP SP2 and will see if that makes a difference, which it doesn't seem to. If it weren't for the stability issues I would recommend this game.

It’s not the game of the century: the graphics have aged, but the gameplay is still fun and the humor is there. Worth the price on sale.

A terrible game, it wasted me more than ten minutes to load for the first time and I couldn't even get into the game.

I want my original game back not this version. It should have been uploaded as a separate new version not as a replacement for the original.

FFS. Epic Online Services... Why? Somehow the update feels like it broke everything and made it even more unstable. And given the rate Volition is going. I doubt they will ever rollback or fix anything.

Tl;dr: One of my favorite games, but the Re-Elected update completely breaks it. Make sure to use the Beta section to download the older version for compatibility with practically everything. Saints Row 4 is a masterpiece, and is also one of the best superhero games I have ever played. The power scaling fantasy is on point: You start with barely anything more than your gun and a measly heath gauge that depletes in two hits, and end up as a god who can freeze, explode, and toss enemies around like toys. Which is why I can't stress this enough: Re-Elected is one of the worst updates I've ever seen added to a game. They somehow took a working product and updated it so it runs worse, crashes more, and breaks simple things like controller support and audio playback. It's so bad, the devs added a Beta toggle to download the "Legacy" version of the game without the Re-Elected mess.
