Beautiful puzzle/shoot ‘em up game.
The gameplay loop revolves around solving puzzles by haunting objects, fighting waves of enemies in a limited top-down style, and finding collectibles. There is also a condensed upgrade tree for your health, shooting stamina, and dashing.
It’s a pretty simple game, but what really makes this game unique is it’s beautifully drawn art style and limited, but vibrant,
color palette that changes with each area. The visuals really sold this game for me and it delivered.
The story, told mostly through visual sequences, is heartfelt and meant to invoke feelings of grief and acceptance. These themes are not explicit, but I came away from this game feeling a sense of closure with the main character you play as and I think that’s exactly what the developers were going for. If you’ve ever played Gris, then you’ll know what I mean.
If you want a short and sweet gaming experience, give this one a go.
100% Achievement Completion Perspective:
Not a lot of achievements that are not related to the story. I needed a guide for just one of the collectible achievements, very minimal backtracking if any. Satisfying to 100%

I went into this game knowing nothing - and went onto complete it fully - The visuals and soundscape were amazing, the gameplay however I found simple and repetitive. This game feels like Bastion, Braid, and Omori mixed in an interesting way but it sadly fails to reach their heights, and falls flat especially towards the end. Level geometry was poor leading me to fall off stuff regularly. Enemy design was pretty one note and the second boss battle took forever because its hit-box is very poorly shaped. The story seems like it is building to something deep, meaningful, and introspective but ultimately it is shallow, save for some interesting imagery. For a companies first outing this game is great but I would avoid unless on sale and don't bother completing it - just play 1 - 2 hours with headphones on and you pretty much get the gist of the whole game. While I can't recommend it - I applaud the developers for creating a game which at times felt like painting, and the music was at often genuinely moving.
*** SPOILERS ***
The only moment in the story that made me stop was the last room, being the fountain and that you have to walk through the water jets to get back to the tower before you ascend - I feel this is a clear nod to the River Lethe of Greek Myth, which is fitting for what the games story seems to be trying to say.
I think I was expecting to know more about Hauntii and see more of their life - especially when I collected every star and ended up with heaps unused. I felt after the Ember / Sandwhale boss fight it was like the stakes had just raised with the corruption - but then the game felt like it lost all motivation and any semblance of a clear goal.
I felt the ending was generally unclear - I went to say goodbye to the friends I had made along the way, but nothing changed, they still said the same lines they had from 10 hours ago - and with the last two-ish hours kinda dragging, it killed any interest I had in Hauntii's ascension - the music was beautiful but ultimately it felt pretty hollow - the world bellow had lost its charm because it didn't care, it didn't have anything to say - so what did it matter if Hauntii leaves it behind.
