Honestly I expected more from this game after reading the reviews. I've played free games that had more gameplay time, and better monster AI. I did buy it when on sale, but still... I will only recommend it on sale, otherwise there are far better games for this price. Click the link to see my gameplay and judge for yourself. I died, so no spoilers for how the game ends.

This game is an interestin' edition to the "PS1" era of titles on Steam. I enjoyed it apart from one particular segment.

Oh Aaron, stop giving me beautiful landscapes. Stop impressing me with a cool atmosphere and detailed graphics.
Anyhow pretty based game 7/10 would run away from weird creatures again.

Oh no! My Walkman!
This game is hilariously bad and the ending makes no sense.
I somehow enjoyed it. It has a PS1 vibe that works, but this is more of a demo than an entire game. Doesn't take long to complete, like roughly 30-40 minutes.

In terms of atmosphere, this game is the full package, makes use of not having music in the earlier stages, and using it for moments of suspense and tension in the later stages.
And of course the games PS1 style look (i love how even the screen feels like its in a PS1 game as well, with the image quality having that old fuzzy feeling, it does feel like i'm playing an old 90s horror game.
controls take some time to get use to, but once your used to it, it is easy to get the hang of.
overall, a great horror game experience.

The Patient After Hours is a Narrative Horror in which we dive into the subconscious world, seeking a way to escape..
Most of the game is literal exploration with a few set scenes, the world feels visually chaotic as pieces of your memories make up a disjointed world. The game has an abstract feel to it with some amazing imagery especially to the last moments of the game.
The visuals are great and have a low poly style, with abstract visuals that feel in place in a dream world. Honestly like the visuals even at the end cutscene, I would have loved for more.
Other than exploration the game has one chase scene with the monster of your subconscious in which you have to escape from it in a bright green maze, by grabbing a key and running to the exit. Honestly the weakest part of the game, that might simply be that a mono coloured maze was easy for me to get lost in.
Overall it was a fun game, would not say anything special but compared to some of the new horror games I played on Steam was enjoyable and did not drag out the gameplay with item hunting.
If my words failed to explain the game, then below you will find a video of my gameplay, it might help you make a choice:
