As an indie game developer I have to say that I would have love to support this game, but I simply cannot.
Pros: The graphics look nice, that's it.
Cons:
- Firstly, there's a bug when trying to rewind, where a clone was destroyed immediately as we start a new rewind.
- The puzzle design is not good. It starts off with something immensely hard, coupled with a mechanic that is very counter-intuitive, the rewind aspect. Yes it seems interesting but if the puzzle start out so difficult, without the player learning the ways a shadow move is incredibly daunting, and frustrating. The game should've started with easier puzzles
- Because of that, those who never got past the second door, did not get to experience the rest of the game.
- A good puzzle game does not mean that it has to be hard, it but it has to present itself as a game that could slowly teach the player about mechanics through simpler puzzles, then can get harder. And I understand designing puzzles is very very difficult, unfortunately this wasn't a good one.
I have to question if the developers even play tested this at all. They designed the puzzle from knowing the solution, but not testing whether or not if people could figure out the solution.
I cannot recommend this game, not because it is a bad puzzler, but it's not worth the price tag. This game should've gotten more play testing, and tune the puzzles. This is sad because I commend the developers (only being highschoolers), to have finished a game and posted to Steam. But that doesn't mean it's a good game. I simply cannot support paying for a game that isn't enjoyable or well-made.
I am sorry, but this is an unbiased opinion coming from someone who values their 5$, and would prefer to spend it on a more well-made game.
