So my thoughts of this game after finishing it:
it is a little different than most of Exe games but lets start from the beginning.
The plot is (of course) the usual...save the world. You have a band of quarreling teens (the subject of the quarrel: food/cooking)....and the usual pet (this time it reminds me of the cute little pet from Feena in Grandia). You can rise them up to level 99 and with items you can boost their attributes.
The most interesting part are the weapons. Each on can be equipped with 4 slots for gems...and thanks to those gems you can choose the job of the member (healer, fighter...).
Now you'll find better gems during the game.
AND
You can boost your weapons: 1st using 1 of up to 3 cauldrons you can boos the attack by 30 points... after that the cauldron must rest for 6 real hours or you must use a cooling item....that can be done till the weapon reaches 999 attack.
The 2nd boost is using materials (bought or found in chests/after fights) It is a slow boost and costly...but still worth the effort.
Also there is an arena...this time you can only get materials for the 2nd boost.
Ah, don't forget you can forge your armor too (even if it is only a few times).
During your fights you will gain special points that you can use in the online shop...either to play roulette (for a better weapon....not very interesting because you can't boost those weapons with the 2nd method. But you can buy interesting
keys (for a storehouse in each city) and potions to boost your attributes.
The game is very linear. You can only visit the next location if the game tells you so.
On the world map you can use warp to towns/dungeons you have visited.
Now the most interesting part: Fights!!!
There are no random encounters. Each enemy is visible.
And it is a little like a spy game. There are no wandering enemies. Each one of them has a (visible) cone of sight. If you step into this cone you must fight (but you can run from fights). If you hit an enemy from behind you get a free round.
Or at last you should get it. Because the hitbox is not very exact. More than I can count I hit them from behind without getting a freebie....and walking into their cone I got one.
Anyway, thanks to the weapon pushing most of the fights are easy (playing on Hard setting).
After a short time in the game you'll get an cannon that hits the enemies real hard (but it takes some time to reload it).
Also you can push yourself and hit extra hard for a few rounds.
What else is there...there is no game plus...if you fought the last enemy the game is over!
There is 1 extra dungeon with 20 levels for extra material with some of the hardest enemies.
Now can I recommend this game? Like most of their games I would only recommend this if you seek an very easy game and only if it is reduced.
