UPDATED REVIEW: (Jan 23, 2023)
Okay, the developers have taken quick action to fix the main problems and bugs with both the menu and tightened up the controls in the game itself.
It works and feels MUCH better now than it just did just a couple of days ago... Great Job to the dev(s)!!

Yes, this another in the long list of Vampire Survivors like games on Steam.. but this one is VERY unique and adds its own twist and its own flavor with the driving aspects. The controls are right and very simple to use as in you just use the WASD keys to move your vehicle in whatever direction you want to go. (W = go up, S = go down, A = go left, D = go right).
All you have to do is worry about moving and dodging and staying alive and you'll get choices for guns and level-ups for your gun as your level up your vehicle as you play. The guns all shoot nearby enemies automatically letting you focus on staying alive and just having "fun"!
I really admire this developer or developers for updating this game so quickly after my initial negative review and no-so-good experience the first time I launched it! They definitely have a great little game here and the price is more than fair!
My first impressions score: An impressive 85%. ..You cannot go wrong with this little gem!

ORIGINAL REVIEW: (Jan 21, 2023)
This game "looks" really fun and cool in the trailer...
It's not until you buy this damn game and launch it that you see how sloppy and carelessly it seems this developer has slapped this together.
- The options are a god awful mess. First of all, it shows Windowed and Full screen as available options, but windowed isn't select-able even if you change the resolution and apply them first.
- Changed resolution and volumes in the options menu DO NOT SAVE and you'll have to re-change them to what you prefer every time you launch this game, assuming you ever launch it more than once.. which is a big "if"
- The actual game play is a total mess as well. The controls are NOT responsive and feel "loose" at best. You'd expect a game like this to have nice tight controls where turning is quick and fluid and drifting is easy. Not at all the case in this game. It almost feels like you have to fight with the controls and hope it does what you want and turns when you hit the A or D key. *sighs*

Decent/Good survivor like, collecting modules to customize what stats you prefer to go for in a run. Weapon balance feels a off, some seem they do a decent job throughout a run whilst others (shotgun) can't kill things at lvl 1

No persistent unlocks.
Game feels like you're accomplishing nothing.
This game has evolved! Lots of neat stuff to screw around with. Looking forward to coming back for even more!

Summary:
Fun addictive action roguelike.
Early access:
Want the meta progression to come in. Needs other control options than wasd. Arrow keys. Movement with mouse instead of keyboard would be a nice option.
Also find myself wishing I could play past the clock to see a build further develop. Other game modes perhaps. But again, looking forward to the meta progression.
The good:
What good about it? Kill a lot of things fast. Get about 30 upgrades by the time the clock runs out. Lots of upgrades that feel worthwhile.

Fun little game with potential! Currently each play instance is 10 minutes, which is better for me when I have less time, compared to something like Vampire Survivors. Devs are actually releasing updates too so that's cool.
Also swarm missiles go brrr

Fun survivor game. If you liked vampire survivors (or similar games) this will scratch that same itch. It requires you to be more active in exploring, targeting and doding than vampire survivor - which means your skill in gaming (like me, I am a hardcore gamer) counts for quite a bit. The game is actively being developed and there's frequent patches with improvements and new items / weapons / skills to play with. For the low price - definitely worth a buy.

Very fun little game, i'll be watching on the development. I love the style, progression, powers are interesting and car physics are pleasant. However there are bugs, quite a few still.
I encountered one particularly unpleasant bug where my diskettes amount isn't updated after each run and I'm stuck with 32 of them, hence no progression, same even after restart. Also there is no option to reset your progress at the moment.
I'll definitely come back to this game when that's fixed.
P.S. It is fixed now and the game became really enjoyable with latest patch

Game is good, but lacking content. Also, it's been completely overhauled from the last time I played it. Which isn't a bad thing, but it does mean it's taking longer. I love the concept of the vehicles and how you upgrade weapons, along with the portal system and the short playtime.
My only reason for having this negative review is that I don't know where the developer looks for issues. I just want to bring up that you can soft lock yourself in dungeons if you have enough knockback from explosives or ramming to push enemies outside the play area. I'd have like 3+ runs ruined so far from this so I'd like it fixed when you can.

A unique and entertaining take on the rogue-lite genre! Love the steering mechanics and being able to pop flip over enemies and also being able to cut a u-turn and run on a dime if I'm having health mgmt issues lol. Can't wait unlock more traits and for the devs to add more incremental weapon choices!

While its a bit rough around the edges, Robot Revolt has enough unique ideas and fun mechanics to quickly become one of my favorite games in the horde survival genre.
For starters, the vehicle controls feel great. Boosting for dodging and ramming enemies is a lot of fun. The mini dungeons are simple but a very nice addition. Finding and beating these opens blueprints for a large list traits that can be equipped before the start of a run adding some nice pre-run customization. I really like the shops having a purchasable item called "Directions" Once purchased, an arrow and distance indicator shows up pointing out the next mini dungeon.
The weapons each feel unique and have a wide variety of build choices. For example, once you get a machine gun, you can choose to upgrade how many guns you have to target multiple enemies or focus on the fire rate or damage, etc. Its fun to explore the different combinations possible for each skill. Other build options like stat books have some great synergy potential and the Recycler is OP.
I highly recommend RR for player that are looking for a fun and interesting twist on this genre. GG!
