Very interesting premise. Really like the observatory/computer portion, if the PC controls are a little clunky. I had to stop playing at the building scene. A lack of direction, so dark you can't tell where you're going, and then I died from something without even knowing what.

managed to go back and beat it, and this game is fine I guess. just has weird and dumb checkpointing like I pointed out below. enemies after this section are far enough away from hazards that I dont think a duplicate of the last time is possible. is the game good though? eh, it's alright. it becomes an fps with too many enemies trying to get you from just outside your vision range. also the end they show a big robot, but it's just a teaser or something. kinda skipabble tbh, but not bad, as long as you don't get the soft lock I did. also the scanning happens the whole game and it is what it is. old review: for some reason when you die you fly forwards pretty far. also checkpoints during a chase segment aren't deactivated on your return trip when the ghost is after you. this leads to a funny soft lock where I spawn in during my death animation like I quick saved bad or something, except it's an autosave I have no control over. would play the game over, but the scanning section in the beginning is so slow I don't want to repeat it, or really everything so far that I played, think I barely got towards the good stuff, but it's all story content so I already experienced it, so going through a 2nd time so quickly sucks and I aint doin that.

Getting into a zone where I can't see anything farther than 3 meters away with a sh*tty pistol that shoot slower than a trebuchet and facing fast monsters that kill by touch isn't my definition of fun. Then I suddenly got halted by destructible walls and I had to search a sledgehammer for 30 years before finding it just because I couldn't see sh*t just to find out the walls were leading to zones I already reached so destroying them is meaningless. But something that isn't meaningless is the refund button. Also what kind of psychopath put right click to jump and put no option screen in his game? I think that's the true horror of Witness of the Night. Not only you can't change the controls, but you can't even change the mouse sensitivity, I mean this is very basic stuff. Edit : My playtime isn't true because no internet.
