Foxy Idle RPG
Island Idle RPG has you helping a bunch of cute anthropomorphic foxes defeat some nearby enemies. The foxes are all in one tiny house. Tapping on a location on their little island sends out one of them. Several foxes can work at a single place. Upgrade the house for more workers. Confusingly, the market icon for this is listed as "More Blacksmith space." Fortunately, that is the worst of the several text and labeling errors in the game. At first, you only can go chop wood. This, of course, is the basic for your starter set of armor, up to five slots. Sell wood and other resources for quick gold to buy items in the market. One of the market items is a tomato seed. A small plot is reserved to grow plants, but only tomatoes are in the game. Later, you can build a fishing pier and send workers there to collect fishies. Food is how you heal when you fight. Cooking food improves it. For your first fights, you'll have to babysit your fighter and manually click. Eventually, you can afford an auto-eat amulet to take that task off your hands. Then you can idle-fight and gain XP. The fighting itself is automatic, other than the early manual healing. When you win, you gain gold, but it isn't awarded until you stop fighting. You'll also gain a drop or two, with monster drops helpfully listed in a tooltip. And, of course, you gain XP. If you lose, you lose a piece of equipment, but these are easily crafted or accumulated, and you only lose one in a stack. Better equipment is crafted from iron, then gold, both mines you can build and staff on the island. Dragon horn, a monster drop, is another armor material. The best equipment in the game is on other monsters. A small annoyance is that crafting recipes do not show up in the craft menu unless you have all the materials needed to make it. I'd rather recipes be unlocked permanently, but most of these take just a handful of materials. Fortunately, the ones you really need to save up for are listed in a Recipe Book. These are the ones you need to progress, such as mines and the fishing pier. And also vehicles to access the dungeons. The dev gets a bit creative and whimsical in the various vehicles, as if experimenting with a 3D modeler. The idle part comes in the grind for leveling up, for materials and gold for the next vehicle, and cooking. Cooking is the worst one, as only one can be made per batch, whereas every other station can be assigned multiple fox workers. And, of course, you can't level grind while waiting on food because of the auto-heal option, which cannot be turned off. But the idling makes the grind easier, since you can leave the game running and go do other things. There is a quest sequence, but it's mostly to walk you through the basics and prompt you through the game. This is a solid game by a starting developer. Game fundamentals are decent, nice combination of idle game and RPG, with a small bit of resource management. The worst flaws are in the text. I grabbed this as part of a cheap bundle on sale, all games connected to the dev. It is obvious from the bundle list that this is indeed an early game and the dev has already gathered a few friends for a larger team to make more and even better idle games. This one is short, cheap, and solid. Worth a look!
