Cool Game, Wish you could attack up and down with the basic attack though

I suggest that try the demo before you buy this.
- Character hitbox seem to be huge and game likes to spawn ranged enemies quite early on. Caster version will kill the character in few hits and there will be a lot of them. Oh and their projectiles travel a long time. With the hitbox being what it is trying to not get hit becomes frustrating. Enemy damage sometimes felt random or the character can get multiple hits in a row.
- I found the leveling up quite slow.
Few edits to this review 09/2024:
- After early access the game is still really buggy and few patches that have come after that seem to be making more bugs.
- The current price for this game isnt worth it in my opinion.
- It just isnt fun game, leveling up is slow and now that monster spawns were changed it feels even more slow. Character doesnt feel that powerful. And some enemies do stupid amount of damage to the characters.

[ENG] I've been playing Bring It On! for a long time, since it's first appearance on Steam. It's a survivors-like game with some nice retro graphics and sounds. There are dwarves, elfs, slimes, witches and so on - it's a fantasy world. From the moment it was avalaible on Steam the game went through a long and bumpy road - difficulty balance issues, lags, freezing, crushes, troubles with launching the game. There were many problems and they were severe. However Bring It On! had so much charm that from time to time I was going back to this game in hope that someday it will reach a good state, allowing me to write a positive review. And I think now is that moment. The devs managed to solve all the major problems and Bring It On! is now a very enjoyable experience for a low price.
[PL] Grałem w Bring It On! od długiego czasu, odkąd tylko ta gra pojawiła się na Steamie. Jest to produkcja typu survivors-like z przyjemną dla oka retro muzyką i grafiką. Mamy tu krasnoludy, elfy, plazmaki, wiedźmy itp. - styl fantasy.

An easy to pick up pixelated themed VS clone. Great themed music. For fans of pixel graphics and 1990's consoles. Controller friendly.

Bring It On! is a great survivor-style game!
I love the variety of items, especially the different passive summonable/minion style weapons. I love building up an army of auto-attacking dogs, skeletal minions, and sea-monsters.
I also really like how the corruption mechanic encourages players to move around each level. As you kill enemies they drop purple pools of corruption which damage the player. I find with other similar games, I tend not to move much, but having to hunt down health potions and move away from the flood of corruption is a nice change of pace!
This game also throws in boss battles.
Each stage has a couple bosses with massive health bars, attack patterns to learn, and fun/surprising designs! Especially like the ones in the Fetid Fields and City Streets!

Interesting Vampire Survivor's clone, but aggravatingly rough. For example, character hitboxes are huge, leading to frequent unexpected hits. It's so annoying I felt compelled to leave a negative review. It's got its whole future ahead of it though, so I suspect many of these will be ironed out, but for now let them bake it a bit longer and check back later.

This is a decent Survivor Bullet Heaven game. It have a cute graphics with intense fight against horde of enemies. Alot of unlockable characters, all have their upgrades so it is a good amount of meta progress. The Devs keep Updating the game and atm working on a bigger one. The game have a Demo, so you can get a taste how it play.
Recommended Survivor Game.

In the sea of survivor-likes, this is just bland and boring, especially in comparison to Vampire Survivors and Nomad Survival.
Even in EA, Bring it On! needs more time in the oven.

So, let's talk about the elephant in the room before I talk about this game's good aspects: this game very sheepishly compares itself to Vampire Survivors, and my first impressions of this game were that I can agree with that, to a certain extent- this game does feel like Vampire Survivors... if Vampire Survivors had as little challenge as possible. When picking the starting character of the Knight, I felt at no point through the first stage like I was in ANY sort of danger. The character racks up damage VERY quickly and healing potions are handed out to you like candy. I then unlocked the Paladin, and, at first, things were definitely harder- the Paladin deals far less damage and has far less health- but it only took a matter of time before I was just as quickly mowing through crowds and taking little damage in return.
The graphics are by no means original- The Dungeon Beneath on Steam and at least THREE games I've seen on the Google Play store use these exact same assets, so going forward if this game continues to get substantial updates, I'd hope the developers at some point switch to a more original art style that isn't just a premade asset factory. The music, I think, is this game's highest point- it's got some REAL GOOD tunes, especially the song in the second stage (which I have yet to beat at the time of this writing). Finally, performance tends to chug HARD and the framerate drops significantly when a lot of stuff is happening on screen at a time.
With all this said, I would say in its current state Bring it On! feels like an entry level point into this ever-expanding subgenre of roguelikes- but I want to stress that I don't think that's a bad thing, by any means! There is a somewhat decent game here and there is quite a bit of content to unlock right now. I think with some more time to cook and a HELL of a lot of balancing this could be a lot better. I would certainly not dissuade people from giving this a go, and I'll be keeping an eye on this, for sure!

TLDR: This is Early Access. If you like the playstyle, check back every now and then and see if things have improved. In its current state I recommend the game based on what it can become, not what it is right now. I reckon you will have about 1-3 hours worth of gameplay with this game before feeling like you've hit the wall. Check back often and if you can spare the money, then support the development of the "Magic Legend / Vampire Survivors"-genre :)
EDIT July 9th 2022:
Latest Patch improved the Talent Tree giving the player more of a free choice as to what ORDER they want to increase their character. A step in the right direction in my humble opinion. However, 1 run with my knight on the first map (having the first 4 talents invested) allowed me to finish the talent tree with about 2000 points to spare. What can i do with these points? I can spend them on rerolls when I am playing the 2nd map. I would recommend adding more horizontal options on the Talent Tree to give the player more gameplay altering choices.
Which brings me to the next point. The 2nd map seems incredibly overtuned compared to how easy the first map is. The difference is staggering.
You spend 20 minutes on the first map, with your character in the middle of the screen, annihilating everything with little effort.
Then you get to the 2nd map and everything eats you up in a matter of minutes.
With the talent tree completely full for the Knight Character, I am not sure what is "needed" from me as a player, to make the map less challenging. I suspect it has something to do with me having to play the Paladin Class that i unlocked at the end of the Knight Tree, and thus using the paladin to unlock passives for the Knight, however I am not sure.
I would suggest making the unlocks visible so the player knows what they are aiming for, and allowing them to see what the classes are that they can unlock, and what those classes contain.
This will give the player something to look forward to, and give them a purpose for the grind.
EDIT June 25th 2022:
After the most recent patch the game no longer gets the lag on any of my playthroughs. I wouldnt recommend the game in its current state as there's some balance/gameplay issues causing the gameplay to be linear and non-interactive.
Currently you only have access to 1 class and the way you play this class is exactly the same in every playthrough, which is the complete opposite of what makes most autobattler/roguelites interesting.
You unlock the same powerups throughout your playthrough, the only difference is which order you pick them in, but in the end, your character is identical to everyone elses as you will get ALL the unlocks for the class in your run.
The talent tree also leaves no room for customization or specialization as its basically X skills in a Tier, and you MUST unlock ALL skills in a tier before you unlock the next tier. Giving you little to no player agency, as you grind Talent Points to unlock row after row.
That being said though, I think the game has potential and I will continue to play it with each gamechange/bugfixing patch. I hope it will continue to improve.
Original Review:
In its current state, i cant recommend the game. I was unable to die after playing for 35 real life minutes (the game says i only played 15 minutes... because it was starting to slow down the framerate around level 50... and it became progressively worse as i levelled up and faced more enemies. Even the timer started running slower as a result of the framerate lag.
In the end i had to exit to menu because the game was simply running forever and no amount of trying to run into enemies would let them kill me.
Its way too easy too if you reach the "unkillable" state in your first attempt. Sadly I was not rewarded for my playtime as I had to leave the run.
Also once you've started playing, you cannot access audio menu to adjust the volume.
I figured that since i was unkillable and the range of my loot-gathering was beyond the borders of the screen, I might as well do something else on the other monitor... NOPE... the game pauses whenever you click off screen... so I ended up just chilling with youtube for about 20 minutes before finally giving up :P
I hope to see some fixes and positive changes in the near future. The game is not very well optimized for modern computers it seems :(
