A solid chill out game, yet not good enough to be called a ‘narrative adventure with branching choices’ in my opinion.
For me it misses a bigger goal, the motivation, reason even, to play it all. In the first game the main plot is this detective case and you’re searching for a murderer, followed by unveiling a big secret and conspiracy. In this prequel, you’re watching snippets of the life of 4 individuals from the first game (each differently interesting) and they all go by so fast you don’t even realize it ended. Left me feeling all ‘meh’ when I finished it. I wish there was more.
Also the game makes it seem there are a lot of choices how to play the characters. However, at the end it feels they don’t matter as you’re watching their past, while they were already shaped (designed) in the original game, so they end up the way they will anyway.
-Got totally angry with Clarissa’s ending as she ended up totally different than I was shaping her.
-Renee's story is by far the most boring, just an argument and a few nice minigames.
-Howard's is emotional if you know how they shape up in the original game.
-The only actually bit thrilling part is Eli's.
So yeah, in conclusion, expect a short, nice looking artsy game, but no big thrill or heavy storyline like in the original.
