The act itself was fun, but WAY too short. The ending is incredibly lackluster as well and the only way to get new cards and cosmetics (other than the paid skins) are with duffel bags, and only one spawns each level so it's very slow to gain all the new stuff. I wish they would have added a unique boss enemy to the end but as it stands, this one is kind of a miss. Prophet Dan is kind of a cool character though, the effects he has when he revives people can be pretty interesting. The new enemies and added weapons are cool too, but it's just not worth the full purchase.

Very short, shows off a cool massive enemy we should all be scared of like the last chapter for the main game... But It doesn't exist and leaves you question what the ♥♥♥♥ you played... It's just a more tedious Hive with new enemies and a worse way to grind for things... It feels like they started it, and rushed it and didn't finish the last levels or an end-game boss...?

Would not recommend getting this DLC. New grind system that locks all the new cards behind a system where you are forced to unlock all emblems, skins, and other stuff before you can reliably get the new cards that everyone wants. I regret getting the season pass.

"Anoint your champions, oh Father. Let all who dwell in the valley know: we are the shadow, we are the death!" 10/10 would Irish again But on a real note this update is a step in the right direction just like the last DLC. The new cards both good and corruption are so much fun. Dan is such an entertaining and well voice acted character. Not to mention the new human npc enemies. Even the new mechanic to earn cosmetics is brilliant (and once again NO MICROTRANSACTIONS). Those duffel bags have the chance of dropping an end tier skull totem cosmetic. That mechanic makes the grind much more enjoyable. I can't wait to see what else Turtlerock has in store. My only request is they increased the spawn rate of bows!

Very Disappointing! First, Act 5 Campaign boring. Cause i thought there will be some crazy boss fight but there are non. ( Exclude Berzerker & Ogre ). I expect to fight new Mutation like crazy Worm boss or something. At least something new but sadly there are non! Second, Act 5 only 6 stages! Paid and Waited for Months for only 6 stages! Third, Cosmetics Only 1 extra for each Cleaners ? how long does it need to create more actually ?? i guess maybe need another year to design another new different cool cosmetic. Not to mention, it is paid cosmetics! Fourth, yet again Waited for Months and only got silly least amount of cosmetics and with only 6 stages of Act 5 Campaign ?? And there's no more, don't tell me card is new content, that's Rinse and Repeat! Fifth, but not least.. No More Content ( Difficulties are not New Content ) First Expansion i still can accept, although not the best but this one Children of the Worm is a Total BS. Sixth, if this is the final state for 2nd expansion, i guarantee you ( new players or players that still thinking to buy ) that the third expansion which is gonna be the upcoming final expansion after probably another 4 months later will be the worse! Because it will be another same thing with one or two new playable characters and a new campaign and another one new cosmetic for each Cleaners and that's it! If you don't believe me, see for yourself since the first expansion! Rinse & Repeat! Lastly, and i don't think they gonna improve PVP Mode as well, cause that should be their first priority and i thought they would put it together with this 2nd expansion but they are not! Current state of PVP Mode is DEAD, Matchmaking for straight up 5mins no one is playing. Only PvE and Eventually you will get bored. It is worth to buy the Expansion ? Answer is NO! Until they add more content otherwise. It is NO! Rating for this [ Children of the Worm ] = 5/10

Unfortunately this isn't doing it for me at this price. There are positives but there are few and it's weighed down by other things. This is 5 dollar DLC. Which is actually sad because some games have 20+ dollar cosmetics. But most of those games are free to play and only get money from cosmetics. Pros: - The new maps are fine. I can't say they are interesting because this theme has been rehashed a lot and they did nothing to add flavor or character. We got a theme without personality. - The new maps are short. This is not always positive for some people but other people don't have a lot of time. - New cards might be interesting. Hard to say because they lock it behind a grind wall and I don't have them yet. - They did decent on the mission prompt appearances so that you know what to do. Cons: - *There were Zero moments.* This is a really big deal. I beat this and cared about nothing. There was no cool boss fights. No cool things done in the levels. I didn't feel I was doing or discovering anything new. No sense of achievement. I played this DLC and was not exciting about a single thing. I don't want to try out builds. I don't want to interact with the new enemies. I don't want to play any of the new levels again. - New grind mechanic that is random. You want the new cards? Enjoy cosmetics. This is something games do to increase play time. If they made a product they had confidence in they would allow players to get what they want first - the new cards, with the knowledge that their good product would keep people playing. - Enemy bear traps are ♥♥♥♥. I am expecting this to get patched. This is terrible game design and whoever thought of it needs to be assigned to some work not related to decision making. They just spawn around you randomly. Disarmed it? A new trap may spawn in the exact same place. You think you cleared a space and its safe? Run back and get caught in a trap. It just isn't fun. This is not a player messed up and so something bad happened to them. This is like if you were writing an essay for homework, did a spell check, then turned it and you get a grade back saying you failed because the teacher added random punctuation. - New enemies suck. We added humans to our zombie game. We have basic snipers, someone who throws pee jars on you, and archers... which is just another sniper in most games and we have slashers which is who I have the most hope for but, it's also just a tall boy with a different damage type. So bland/generic. Added nothing to the game. Made me not change my play style at all. The enemies don't do things very well. It feels like they lifted their new enemies from shooters that are 20+ years old. - No interesting new game play mechanics or ways to play the game. - The new prophet character sucks. This is fixable but not yet. They have added cards to play a style encouraging people to go down... It's hard to get people to play that when you can just play a normal deck and win without dying. And if they make the dying thing too good, they'll just go down at the start of the map in the safe room. They need to devote some time and more cards before that play style is fun and good. They need a character that can get themselves back up a la borderlands. Also, Prophet title has nothing to do with him. - The new items are meh. - Bear traps you will never be excited to get. Throw it down and move on except you cant because of the above trap complaints. Don't want to get them mixed with enemy spawns. - Smoke grenades are good if someone goes down (just take other options and don't die), or if you are speed running. This game is half-assing a stealth play style. I'd love them focusing on that. Give me Ninja DLC. They got that stupid charged swing card in the game right now. Give me the ninja teleport to 5 guys and hit them at the same time dash. - Bow is meh. Could probably be fixed with just better visuals. The stats are fine. It doesn't fill any niche. Make it look cool and feel better to use and people will play for it for more than just novelty. - I don't play this game for the story. They are making the time for some bad dialog and cut scenes. Do better or don't waste the resources. I'd take adding more and better animations to existing enemies outside of cut scenes (l4d2, or most other games), More unique looking enemies, Stand alone cut scenes like overwatch but from the zombie perspective (human lines have already showed the blandness of the human characters), recordings you can find in levels and listen to in game while moving through the level. - What does the cult have to do with the zombies? Why don't the zombies attack them? - There is one point at the end of the level where an NPC saves us. Next level says he can't leave without his sister and asks us to come back to rescue them later. We drop from a one way ledge and never hear back from them I believe. - Train escort mission where it breaks easy. You do nothing interesting. Basic escort quest which all game designers know everyone hates and they did nothing to make it fun. - They are still really weak on basic animation stuff. Easiest to see on the snipers. You kill them and that laser dot stays on you for a while even after they die then it just disappears. - While I enjoyed them making faster maps- You need to make more content or charge less. It would be fine if there were more mechanics, levels, enemies, a new story style that was interesting. I see a lack of things without being compensated in other areas. - Finale sucks. Me and my friend were actually trying to confirm during the last level whether we were doing the finale or the level before the finale. - They made rescuing people worse. In the original acts the ally npc's shot. - Lots of having to blow doors open. Some triggers hordes and some don't. Make explosions trigger hordes and use something else if you don't want them to trigger hordes. Not hard to make clear indicators and tools. People having been using key cards/bolt cutters for years. We got thermite if you still want something sparkly. Overall recommendation to fix the game: - More levels - More game modes - Stop hating speed runners. They are a small community. Make that a different game mode if you don't want them in normal games. Speed running being rampant in your game means one of three things 1) harder difficulties are not balanced 2) The rewards for playing normally are not enough 3) The levels were poorly designed so people would rather run through it than play your game. - For the new enemies, throw them in the dumpster. - For the old enemies, I see what your doing with the different types but it sucks. You can't tell them apart from sound queues or from the silhouettes easily. That's bad character design. It isn't complicated either and you can still be lazy. You can have a fat guy and a fat women do different things. The tall boy variants can just have a big left or right arm. All of them can have cool glowing veins on different parts of their bodies. There is no reason to make them look so similar. Their abilities are unique, their bodies need to match. - The bosses suck. When bosses spawn I am more worried about nearby normal enemies than I am the bosses. All of the bosses can be defeated by just running away and the boss wont be able to land an attack animation. Most people don't do that because all of the bosses are just bullet sponge checks. At least their appearances are kind of unique within the game. Not unique compared to other games. - Your going to wait until the game is dead then release the l4d versus mode to try to save it instead of building a community. - Get modding open. People will fix issues for free. - This game isn't a battle royal. The weapon attachments are cool but management is tedious. Weapon smith card was a step to fix. Just make the side missions geared towards unlocking different attachments instead.

Levels are a lot more varied, a lot more new stuff than DLC 1, the new character is really funny. People complaining about the transport level, I don't have a problem with it, it felt pretty cool. The new specials are very cool. More variety isn't a bad thing.

I'm not really sure how or why, but this expansion almost feels like it had less content in it than the Tunnels of Terror DLC and that's saying something. I really like the approach they were going with, the first 3 parts of Act 5 were different enough and felt like experiencing something new then you get to the last 3 acts and it just feels like a rehash of the already existing Hives. Not to mention that Act 5 is INCREDIBLY small when compared to even the shortest of the 3 main acts of the base game and that's not even addressing the fact that the missions aren't even that long, I completed the entire act in under 2 hours even with it's artificially inflated difficulty. Prophet Dan is an interesting addition to the cleaner pool but he feels almost under-utilized. He's just this kooky religious schizo who rants endlessly during the Act 5 but that's it, he has no merit outside of it. When playing the base game, he's pretty much just a silent bystander and that's kind of a shame given how they tried to write his character. The new enemies are also pretty meh. None of them drastically change up gameplay other than serving as another form of special ridden to be an immense thorn in your side. Overall, it's nice to have something new to the game as I've been finding every excuse to keep coming back and playing but my god Turtle Rock, I hope you have some hidden agenda to revitalize community engagement because not only am I severely let down, I have even smaller expectations for the FINAL DLC, I hope to be proven wrong but at this point, I probably won't be.
