I really wanted to like this game but some of the jumping / collision detection made it more frustrating than fun.

Fun Platformer that has some challenging spots that feel rewarding once you get past them. Beat Taco tower and have made my way into pedro land (found one of the hidden doors in the game and beating my head against that level).

Pedro Land DX is a collection of six retro-themed platformers, in the vein of the original Super Mario Bros. Each game is quite short but is packed with tough platforming and enemies. It's certainly worth the price of admission, and is an entertaining and enjoyable experience, even if it's a short one. However, while it definitely has it's highs, such as the music and some honestly very nice simplistic pixel art, it also has it's lows, namely in a few bugs. Specifically, there are issues with bosses not gaining aggro on the player, which makes the boss rushes more doable but detracts a lot of tension. While these bugs slightly sour the experience, they don't ruin it by any means. Additionally, I want to point out that this is one of the dev's first games, which I found to be a very impressive feat. I went in knowing this, and while it shows it, it actually makes it more enjoyable. I specifically want to point to Pedro Land 2, and how the developer expands upon existing content and pushing his skills further with more impressive locations, enemies, and secrets. While it's far from a perfect product, Pedro Land DX is an enjoyable game. My only major complaints are the potentially frustrating bugs, and a lack of power-ups (with one exception), which feel like a classic retro platformer staple that was unfortunately forgotten. The alternative characters modes are a suitable enough replacement, but the mode is hidden away in the options menu, and vary WILDLY in difficulty. Aside from those few issues though, I thoroughly enjoyed my time with Pedro Land DX, and would recommend it, especially considering it's low price. 7 out of 10, a fun little platformer with some great moments, but some slightly wasted potential.
