So far the game is interesting and enjoying using 19 century weaponry. It plays at a slower pace. THERE ARE GLITCHES WHERE I'VE WON BATTLES AND HAD TO FIGHT THEM AGAIN. I read about glitches in reviews written when it first came out...seems they still haven't been fixed. I'll carry on playing but this is a disappointment and wastes precious time!

I think you get it for free nowadays, but i remember paying for it. Nevertheless, the faction is not one of my favorites, but more content is more content:)

At a glance the Saga are very obviously one of the most enjoyable factions to play in Fall of the Samurai and this is very much true. The Saga start with a great starting location and buffs that support a huge economy, navy & the best units in the game – modern artillery. The Saga starting location is very good. They start with Nagasaki that has a smuggling den and trading port that can be quickly made into a foreign trading port. They start near the French and British trade nodes, and are on the bottom of the map and so they can easily protect their trade. They also start off already trading with these powers netting lots of early game income. The Geisha agents from the smuggling will net tens of thousands of Koku over the course of the game while garrisoned and the foreign adventurers from the port will make armies extremely elite & counter most other agents. Next to Nagasaki is the coal rich Hizen province that the Saga can fully exploit with their 20% bonus to industry income. These two provinces are on their own peninsula and can be easily defended from land and building a navy should be no problem with their solid starting economy. The nearby island of Tsushima has a gold resource that can be used to fund industry. The most obvious strengths of the Saga are their bonuses to artillery and their navy. Naval strength is everything in Fall of the Samurai due to the ability of naval bombardments to destroy coastal cities, and ports. Navies are also extremely expensive so a -10% recruitment and upkeep bonus goes a long way. With their foreign port the Saga are well positioned to get the first steam ship and steamroll every other navy, destroy enemy cities and support land armies with naval bombardments. They also have no reason not to use lots of overpowered modern artillery as theirs is made even accurate for no cost. The Saga are a great faction with really no downsides. They are well positioned to fully embrace industrialization and a modern military. They have the best faction stats and a great starting position, but not the best starting position so there is still some challenge.
