This game is a buggy nightmare. You can build up your settlement somehow (first placing sawmill, then hunter, but starting money is low, so you have to wait for the sawmill to generate enough coins to buy the hunter), then working up to multiple houses, sawmills and eventually military. If you place your buildings too narrow, settlers will get stuck. Assigning more than one settler to a building is impossible. Sometimes hitboxes are too big, so instead of telling a settler to work on a construction site you end up replacing your hunter and whatnot. Or your hunter is shooting at a boar next to his hut, but ends up only hitting his own building. But with the military, things really piss you on. Moving a couple of soldiers at a time is sometimes working, sometimes only one strolls to your destination. Archers are good, but aim like blind chickens unless their target is standing perfecly still or is exactly running towards them. They kill absolutely everything in their line of shot, so prepare for dead boars all the way. Soldiers somehow have their own target finding, but attacking a barbarian village is just throwing them to the trash, because either they wander around killing spawned enemies (which spawn like machine gun bullets, so cheating on AI side is plenty) or attack buildings sometimes, but even if they kill the buildings, archers are not able to shoot through the rubble, because hitboxes again. Oh, and sometimes the selection box is hanging, so you can't do anything any more. And since there's no saves, all your effort then was in vain.
I've never found out what the runesstone or the well is for, and after building everything that is possible I'm not even able to build the grayed out bonfire or the wall or anything else - no ships, no further buildings, notthing.
This game, while pretty, was released too early with too many bugs and given too little thought. I honestly can't fathom why there's positive reviews, to me this game prompted 5 rage restarts/quits within 1.5 hours, and 1.3 of them were AFTER the official "we're out of beta" release. Yes you are, you are in Alpha again. Release, yeah, my a**.

Game have potential, having decent art style and game design. Yet at this stage which resemble very early alpha. Having only few buildings and warrior you cant do much.
-Controls are very finicky and bugged,
-cant properly select units,
-multi select only selects, commands are not distributed to all units, only 1 receive the direction.
-Some buildings cant be build

this game is extremely buggy and I know it's in progress but I believe it is not worth the money currently.

Wow, I cant even play it. Just downloaded it to check it out, made the sawmill and hunters house, but my residents just walk aimlessly around when I try to assign them to the building.

What you see is what you get
Valand is a small land at the moment
The game offers the features described on the store page. You can harvest resources. You can build a viking village. You can defend your village against enemies.
The game takes 463,08 MB of disc space. The files are overseeable so I'm positive the developer is able to improve the game fast. When I experienced some minor translation mistakes in the german version, I was able to correct them by myself just editing a game file. Valand runs stable, I experienced no crashes.
I'm curious to find out how the feedback of the current Beta testing will affect the future of Valand. I'd wish for an option to change the video resolution of the game so I contacted the developer in the steam discussions. He quickly answered and stated that this feature would be implemented. I really recommend using the steam discussions section for feedback, criticsm, wishes. Valand could become a great game. The seeds are planted.
Edit 2023-03-09: After the huge "Valand Calling" Update the game is even better now! Good work!

Not currently worth your time and money. Unfortunately the game has been put into early access too soon. this game isn't ready for feedback, there is simply not enough there to begin with. The core game play mechanics that are in place are not intuitive due to the UI and the characters would get stuck on terrain and randomly unable to finish wood cutting which is the first way of gathering resources for building. The load times also seem very long relative to the install size of the game.
I hope the Devs don't give up on this as the graphics are nice and the concept is good. I think they need to spend another 3-6 months working on making sure what content is already there works well and the UI is a bit more helpful and guided and that there is feedback to the player that there actions are acknowledged.
Features they could add:
- day and night cycle and Seasons.
- research and tech trees
- individual customisation of characters, like equiping helmets, axes, spears, shields, talismans.
- god powers, buy choosing a god to worship you get a god power to activate once a day like Thor calling down lightning AOE or something that doubles hunting resources.
- ruins and caves to explore and loot.
- mini world bosses to fight, like a giant bear or wolf.
- diplomacy with other villages to gain allies.
- champions or hero characters.
- public events like festivals
The Devs seem to be doing updates often so doesn't seem like a cash grab, just a bit rushed out the door, but with some more work and ideas this could be a fun little gem of a game.

I am guessing this is a single dev production, but even so, this is not ready to be released, not even in early access / beta in my opinion.
There's simply too many things wrong, I've made a pro's and con's for you to consider before buying.
CONS
Loading times way too long (I have a SSD)
Camera movement way too fast (no sensitivity setting)
No info on how to start your settlement (Missing tutorial / basic text info )
Water flickers depending on camera angle
Have to exit to main menu to change settings
Darkness at night is too dark
Can't left click a single unit (have to drag)
Adding more than one settler to a Sawmill, makes them just stand and bump each other.
Once a unit is working on something, you can't cancel their assignment. (Highly annoying if you're being attacked)
Tabbing out of the game during unit selection, creates a bug where you can't get rid og unit selection.
Map looks boring with little to no elevation or rivers and way to few tree's, bushes etc.
PRO'S
Music is nice
Graphics look good
