I personally enjoyed the game and would recommend it to other, the game play style is good, with a few things that will probably be changed to make the experience more enjoyable, but overall I would say it was a fun game for what it is now.

SHPR is a great game if you like minamilistic arcade games
PRO's
- good variety of items and more gets edited on a frequent basis
- DEV listens too the community and makes amazing changes too it
CONS
- BALANCING tends too be lacking sometimes one item is defining the run easy and some runs make it impossible leaving some items chosen as garbage and some being chosen as amazing
overall great game. and goood to hear dev is working on the balancing issue

Even though the balance is a little bit off, it is a great experience.
You won't get hundreds of hours of gameplay out of it, but you will get a nice "free time killer".

When I first stumbled across this game I was drawn in by the simplistic art style and roguelite elements, however SHPR has a mighty few flaws that I can definitely see being deal breakers if they remain unaddressed by the games official release.
For starters I would like to talk about what I enjoy with the game.
I adore the simplistic styling the game is going for, and some of the concepts demonstrated in the games current version have a lot of potential. I love the concept of a more simplistic and streamlined roguelite; but in spite of that, the game possesses some blaring issues that make it a bit difficult to enjoy in its current state.
The games greatest issue is the pacing, it is far too slow. At the end of each round you alternate from the shop and the upgrade menu, both of which contain issues. The shop menu is perhaps a bit too streamlined with 3 separate upgrades to choose from being the shops only contents, one you purchase an upgrade you are able to buy a new one for a higher price; however, the shop lack the ability to re-roll, which isn't a deal breaker, but the difficulty to obtain more upgrades caused by the insufficient currency gain in between turns makes this all the more punishing. The upgrade menu isn't as bad, but it requires more currency to upgrade an existing equipment than to purchase a new one from the shop, making it very unappealing to upgrade. And when faced with the alternative choice to gain an extra currency, it becomes an even more unappealing deal. Speaking of currency, the rate at which you are able to gain it is far too slow. You gain 1 currency at the end of each round, and a bonus 1 currency if you skip an upgrade. This makes it difficult to gain more upgrades, and adds to the overall sluggish feel of the game, which is the opposite of what I desire from a sleek roguelite such as this.
It doesn't take long to discover that a majority of the upgrades are rather underwhelming, Some upgrades can even be detrimental, such as machine gun, which lowers your already low damage to make your projectile feel more like foam darts. The damage taken is too punishing for the low damage that you deal to enemies. You can really feel the detriment of the low damage you deal to enemies after just a little bit of gameplay. The enemy spawn rate is also quite slow, when combined with the low damage dealt the game feels way too slow in pacing.
Despite all of my gripes with the game I do truly believe that this game can become something great! I love the concept, but the pacing is far too slow, and the upgrades are weak and underwhelming. If these issues are addressed the game could be something really fun to play!
(one bonus and very unimportant comment: I believe that the game may benefit from vector graphics as opposed to the pixelated style it currently uses. Some of the icons use such high pixel counts that it almost looks like it's trying to look like a vector. This is likely just down to personal preference however)

This game has an interesting game balance and I loved it. Since machine gun and assault gun literally don't hit damage to enemies, sniper and main weapon makes damage. I think if you choose sniper or make main weapon stronger, you love this game.
Also this game's movement is fun. I love the micro design of the game. But macro design should be changed. Progressing level by level logic is getting older and any indie game should not using this. I hope you will continue to do great games. Good try!

The soundtrack is great, but that's pretty much the best thing I can say about this game. The main problem I have is that it lacks variety. It just gets boring too fast, and lacks the depth similar games like SNKRX have. The upgrades you get feel really insignificant and you really have to get a bunch before they start to make a difference, but you don't get enough money to actually start feeling a change. The weapon upgrades are basically worthless, they cost double as much as the regular upgrades and the drawbacks they have easily outweigh the benefits. Maybe in future updates the game will get better, but as of now I definitely can't recommend this game.

cant recommend this game as the pacing is slow, the mods are boring, the "store" system is one of the worst i've seen and its bland to look at. no charm what so ever.

Idk why I tried this without user reviews, this looked interesting and I added it to my wishlist but there are almost no good things going for it.
Pacing for the game is terrible, you choose an ability after every other level and upgrade an ability every other level after choosing an ability, but the upgrades don't even do much, actually they might make you worse at killing things if you pick certain combos like the machine gun.
Enemies take a while to kill and you have to kill them in waves, so it devolves into circling around the screen while hoping an enemy doesn't appear from where you're going, which can result in damage to your character. Doesn't seem well thought out at all.
Look at the store page's video and you'll see how little damage your bullets do to the enemies. each wave can take a while to kill depending on your enemy and how fast your bullets are and how much damage they deal. It feels like a chore to even get through a level. I hoped that as I got past level 11 I would be able to get more OP abilities but the gameplay loop stayed the same.
Developer seems really out of touch if they think this game is any fun at all.
Edit: Developer responded, I was definitely a little harsh in the review but it definitely was a let down for me. I think the game has potential adding roguelite elements and making you being able to progress between games, but as ZokerinoDev stated, the game is early access and there's a lot to work on. I look forward to seeing the progress on the game and hoping to seeing the game be successful. It definitely has potential in my eyes.
