MW:5 Clans is an improvement over most aspects of MW:5 Mercs, everything feels and looks a little more polished. Unfortunately, there is not nearly as much content in the game as the previous Mercs game.
Also if you are a long time Battletech-MW fan you will notice the mechs in the game are not true omni-mechs, I get why they chose to use a modular omni-mech system. But it really bothers me to only be able to put energy weapons in the arm of a Warhawk Prime, without unlocking a variant that has missle slots in the arm. This is why the clan IIC battlemechs are absent, because whats the point if you don't have real omnimechs anyway? So if you can get over the fake omnimechs you will enjoy the game.

Genuinely love battletech stuff. Mechwarrior 2: Mercenaries was my literal first ever PC game, so this has really come full circle. This game was overall great, and I can't wait to see what cool stuff gets added via DLC.

Bad Settings choices makes the game next to impossible to play, even with 5800x3d and 6800xt less then 60 fps on medium with FSR. No real changes can be made via INI files for turning options off. Really wanted to play this game but it is just sad they never seem to make any changes to the game that really benefits there customers. Another group of Devs that seem to hate people buying and playing the games they created. Maybe listen to your fans and you might sell more games. Refunded before finishing the tutorial.

The cut scenes and character modeling lag and are very choppy. For the size and space it takes up, I uninstalled. Definitely was expecting MW5 Merc quality or better, but this seems like a rushed downgrade in terms of control and customization.

The gameplay and general quality is mediocre - about on par with the rest of PGI's stuff, but the story is actually surprisingly good and a significant improvement over Mechwarrior 5: Mercenaries. It's really steeped within the Battletech setting, and the characters feel like they're products of that world. It's great, if you really enjoy the Battletech world. One huge qualm I have is the quality of the voice work - Their acting is fine, but I question whether they had any sort of direction. The actors pronounce key Battletech terms inconsistently, and sometimes make an odd delivery. Also, sometimes the audio quality changes in-between lines, with background noise or distortion. They said that one of the free updates with the Ghost Bear DLC is re-recorded lines, so I hope they go back and polish over all of the voice work in the future.
The mech customization is somewhat limited but my biggest issue with it comes from the nature of Clan Omnimechs, which are just as frustratingly un-customizable on Tabletop and Mechwarrior Online as they are in this game. So that's not their fault.

This game is just an all around BLAST ! ! ! A real classic straight forward 90's game feel to it. It's a campaign not a sandbox/open world. Mech 5 Mercs is a Mercenary Manager simulator. This isn't a bad thing but its not what this game is. This is a beat the next level get more stuff beat the next bigger level fight the next boss to get to the cool cut scene game from the 90's and it allows enough customization for you to have fun playing around with different builds in between missions while not sinking all your time into it. Playing this game with at least one other person is where it is at though. I personally believe all warrior games are better served as a multiplayer experience and allows you to use better strategy as well as lightly role play while you are in game. Highly recommend to anyone looking to have a fun romp with friends for a few weeks through a roller coaster sci fi movie blockbuster. Don't let haters deter you this is A LOT of fun to not be over looked. Well bargained and done Piranha Games ! ! !
