I have played all of the most popular VR shooters out there - Pavlov, Onward, Contractors, Breachers... I love those games, but none of them has the speed and movement that this game has. Jumping and sliding, while getting those headshots, is what got me completely addicted in the first place. This game has been out for a couple of years on PSVR, Quest and Pico, and the playerbase is always nice and helpful to new players. If you, like me, have played a lot of COD growing up, then this is what you want 🔫

this was my first review. "not sure what is happening with this game. It has become unplayable. Every time i start a match my character just spins around and around until i am killed and if i push x to restart i'm spinning again, can't stop it so have to exit game. I bought it from meta quest store and it works perfect. "
Now I found out the problem was with my Joystick had been interfering with this game. I unplugged it and everything works as it should.

The game can be fun at times, but it's riddled with bugs that and poor game design choices that make it an incredibly frustrating experience.
It's Call of Duty in VR, but as a new player your guns are terrible so the pros not only have the experience advantage, but you have to spend 30 hours grinding your way to a gun that actually can compete against their overpowered arsenal they've unlocked. Progression is faster TTK, and not more variety.
I've had bugs where settings would change themselves so I lose the ability to turn because it dropped my turn speed to zero, and the re-spawn system is predictable enough that you can be spawn camped.
I've had game-breaking glitches where I would load in and it would crash after a couple minutes, as well as a bug that made my character spin around in circles and restarting my headset and computer did nothing. I almost threw up.
The only reason I'm playing this game is because I can play it with my friends on PlayStation.

I play Alvo on Meta Quest 3 and now I have bought the Steam Version. Alvo is an excellent game, I think it is the best VR Shooter Game. At the beginning it is a little bit hard, especially if you play against much stronger opponents, but it is just a question of time when you improve. Do not give up, just continue to play. There is "Free for All" Mode - everybody is against everybody; this is quite difficult. Then there is "Team Play", where one team fights against the other team. Under "Team Play", there is possibility either for "Team Deathmatch", or "Hard Point" (Capture the flag), or "Search and Distroy (one team has to place the bomb and the other team has to defuse it). For starting players, it is better to start "Team Play", it is easier. Me personally I like especially "Search and Destroy". I have quite a strong PC for PCVR, I can play Half-Life Alyx (including the custom made single player maps), but actually I prefer playing Alvo, as it is "more action", more fun. As for the other VR Games, such as Onward, Contractors, Pavlov etc, I find them much more difficult than Alvo. I prefer Alvo, because when playing "Search and Destroy", you can help your teammates, revive them, give them advice, navigate them etc... I also like that there is possibility for automatic reload of weapons, it is practical. And I like that it is not full of screaming kids.

This is by far the best FPS I have ever played. I've played all of the other FPS's including Onward, Pavlov, Contractors and this is the fastest most competitive of the lot. We have also got lots of context on its way!
In addition to this it has the most awesome community I have ever been a part of.

There are design choices here that are a stark reminder that this game is dated.
Auto reload has no place in PCVR. Dated visuals aside, the game feels like a poorly designed flatscreen game that was turned into VR at the last minute.

STEAM 2024 "MOST BRAINDEAD GAMEPLAY" award winner is here!
Not worth it. Extremely bare-bones game with little to no polish on it's already miserable foundation. Guns have no recoil even when held in one hand, there's no aim/ADS movement speed penalties, guns reload themselves and majority of movement options like ladders are bound to buttons (in a game that claims to be built from ground-up for VR). TTK is also tragic, with all the guns killing in 1-2 shots regardless of ANYTHING. Movement speeds are comically unbalanced.
All in all, you can feel your braincells dying as you play. 0 fun to be had, although it might just pull out kids from other, more serious/demanding games.

They release a trailer for this game like 4 or 5 years ago and it looked pretty cool, I was pretty stoked. There was a while there where I assumed it had been abandoned as there was no news of any kind. Then we got the first gameplay footage and the game looked pretty bad. Sometimes VR games don't show super well so I figured I'd give it the benefit and try it out, though I had my expectations pretty low.
Not low enough apparently. This game is embarrassingly bad, I genuinely don't know how even a single developer could work on something for 4-5 years and end up with this garbage. This MIGHT have passed for acceptable in 2016 but this is completely unacceptable today.
This developer clearly just bundled together a bunch of purchased assets and put it up for sale. Maps are not designed to accomodate the movement speed. The weapons automatically reload when you point down, one handing weapons seems totally viable, weapon handling is super janky and doesn't even adhere to the more common standards like trigger for mags and grip for weapons. There's a baked in melee animation if you're out of ammo and try to fire.
At this point there are free games with more design sense and polish than this. Even if this one were free it's not worth the space it takes up on your drive.
I have no idea who they intend this game to be for but I can only assume it's designed for players who don't know any better and are too lazy to look at another option.
If you want a fast paced CoD like shooter then look at Contractors It's got that in spades plus amazing modded content for custom maps and modes.
If you want a focused competetive 5v5 game with lots of polish look at Breachers
If you want something free that is still much better than this look at Grapple Tournament or Hyper Dash
