This game still needs TONS of work. Especially the combat.

Utterly terrible, the graphics are on par with a ps3 game considering they charge for this garbage id expect to feel like im playing a 2024 game not a game that gets beaten graphic wise by tetris - not worth it, dont buy it

I noticed in the very beginning of the game, in character creation, the female selections aren't even feminine. If you want your character to be even remotely feminine you have one real option which sucks. I'm not sure if the goal was to only have androgynous options but I personally am very disappointed not to have options for my character. I hope this changes. I know they're still in development but if this game is going to be bogged down by all the crap that other games seem to be trying to shove down our throats lately, it's going to fail. What a disappointment so far. I've waited for this and it looks like it's going to be another woke rendition to a world that was well loved before these ideas.

GreedFall 2 is still in early access, but has just received it's first major update (2025 March).
Made by a small AA studio, Spiders - GF2 is a worthy sequel to the first game, a recognizable and promising sequel, which not many IP-s can present recently. There is certainly much work to be done, but development is on the right track, and for the recent price (under 25 EUR on key sites) this game is a really good deal.
It has well-written story and characters, beautiful and very unique setting and stunning music. It has some flaws, naturally, but in the time of epic AAA failures, a "nice" and "quite good" game is to be appreciated. And as I have trust in the developers, GreedFall 2 will be much better than nice and quite good.

Major Regrets. Getting past the tutorial alone made me give up on this game. I loved GF1 so much. Relatively simple mechanics, great story telling and environment. GF2 however, turned fights into the most laborious process ever. Playing on mouse and keyboard nearly impossible(you have to hold right click to look around?!! WTF). So disappointing as I waited two years for this game to come out, and it just is a dud. Core mechanics lost and just a major regret. I've picked it up three times and closed out before finishing combat tutorial, that's just how bad it is.

Everything I have seen so far looks good. I'll update after I finish, but I am addicted to Wrath of the Righteous and have limited time to sink into games. So we'll see when that happens.
I am mainly posting this in regards to the negativity I have seen. My experience with the combat (just the first snippet) was incredibly fun. From a strategist standpoint it looks like they have some solid resources to play with.
Sadly though, this game does come at the cost of those who enjoyed the first Greedfall. This is a completely different design choice. I hope they make statements of apology to their original core fanbase (at least the ones who feel alienated), and from there put the blinders on and go to town on refining this experience into something that inspires genuine praise.
In a world where turn-based strategy reigns supreme, RTWP must rise up. XD
Anyway, my condolences to the core audience. I can understand the feeling of a studio making design decisions that leave you scratching your head and howling in heated rage.

really bad combat, game was never meant to be a tactical w/e they want to call this, action combat was the original format and spiders should have stuck w/ it. combat even w/ the " major " update, is still garbage and ruins the game, DO NOT waste your money on this.

I loved Greed fall. It was an amazing game. I would recommend that game to everyone. It is the same genera as Dragons Dogma, original. When this came out it was suppose to be amazing. The story line looked super kewl. I was excited for the new abilities and lore to discover.
Unfortunately they did not show how unforgivable the battle is. They changed the entire mechanics of the game from the Original game to what it is now. I can see why they kept it under-raps, as the change completely destroys the game. I know quite a few people who were done the minute they saw they changed it to this this weird turned base crap. To me this game series is dead. Unless they change the battle mechanics back, Greed fall will be the last game in this series I ever play.
DO NOT RECOMMEND. This is suppose to be a fast paced game not a pause and turn base my hero and wait for the end of the fight.

It can clearly be seen that there is some polishing here and there to do. I hope the character creation widens up a bit and improves the facial expressions as just a tad more detail would make a whole lot of difference, but the story is interesting enough to make me forget about it occasionally.
The game crashed once in 17 hours, which I consider it way more than fair enough for an early access.
Whoever plays those games for the combat, they should go for something more engaging... as it follows the same logic of DAO: great world building, great story and I think the writing is matching the first but if you're here for combat, you will be somehow disappointed.
But again, DAO isn't famous for the combat but for the story and world.
Loved the first, I think I am going to love this one too!

After Exploring the starting Area I have finally made it to the city.
I love GF1 combat, voice actors and story, with GF2 I do not have the same feelings:
Combat: is overwhelming too many choices and things to click and monitor as if my whole life depends on it, felt like I was playing the Sims with a Battle mod needing to wait for them to move to a location to then have them do the thing and fail because the enemy moved and my characters do not now what to do when there is no target, they don't lock on on them despite having already click on the monster to attack, IF you also do a skill that is an Instant move there no way to direct it towards the enemy or prepare it while your character moves it will just happened and they will absolutely hit nothing and they are on cool down now just swinging away. There does not seem to be any aggro whatsoever, enemies will attack whomever does more damage? Still not quiet sure on that. You can probably taunt a few and round them up but again landing an instant move is very difficult and almost useless.
Story: So far is familiar with what we already know and can be surprising at random points but, haven't explore more after arriving to the city to really dive into it.
Voice Acting: I love my three musketeers Male De Sardet, Vasco and Kurt and the chaos DUO with both Siora and Petrus, they invoked emotions that really impacted how I was making decisions. as for Shéda and Nílan I wanted nothing more than remove them from my party Shéda had 0 emotional tone to the things she said and Nílan was so arrogant and annoying they really just made a terrible experience been in that Island trying to appreciate it.
Characters: not everyone was too ugly or good looking in GF1 everyone had their charms but in GF2 man people are just not fun to look at, they are just so bland and unappealing gear is not looking good and I try to mix and match some outfits here and there trying to make them look interesting but man it was very difficult, I'm sure there will be better armor eventually but from the start is very difficult to fine psychical comfort with my characters.
Skill Tree: love the skill tree is very POE like in the sense of having many things and be able to create your own path rather than limiting it to a couple of choices.
Game Features: Sense button is horrible, before there was a skill that let's you be more perceptive and allow you to focus automatically in looteable things around you now if you do not look into the control/keyboard keys you would not know, there is no determinating factor other than a quest that allows you to track footprints and it does not work because you can fail to look at the ground as if you roll to low on a invisible dice roll and speaking off if you fail on other civil skills you then do not have any other methods of trying a different path, "miss to lockpick?" the chest is now close forever.
Overall I give the game a 4/10 you really need to nail the starting of the game to get you hype and this had me: bored, annoyed and not interested to continue.
Battle could had been much better if you either make it a turn based like Divinity Original Sin or leave just the same as GF1.
Characters and NPC's are very unappealing, ugly, wet and pale they lack personalities and features that makes you want to adventure with them.
Yes I still recommend playing the game because I love the series and want to see it be better and grow.
Experiences are different for all and this is how I experienced the game, you might see it in another way.
