End of Night Reviews

1943. You are sitting in a boat with Josef, rowing from Nazi-occupied Denmark to safety in neutral Sweden. As he crosses the ocean, the sea gives way to the streets and people that populate his mind. Your journey becomes a living landscape of recollections from the night of his escape.

Playtime: 55 minutes
Experienced on the Meta Quest 3
This is a purely cinematic experience. It's approximately 50 minutes long, so it's one of the longest VR movies on Steam. For whatever reason, the app makes you click install from the app itself, instead of installing the whole thing from Steam (outside of VR). So you should probably step away as it took a few minutes to install completely for me. You only use motion controllers to click install and then click on play. Make sure OpenXR is the default for Meta PC app, or it will not start in VR on the Meta Quest. Unfortunately, the visuals aren't that great in VR. I think the art-style didn't help, plus I believe the scale just isn't right. It's an artistic film about the WW2 holocaust, specifically Josef fleeing Nazi-occupied Denmark. It's a harrowing story that plays like a memoir. You can juxtapose this atrocity with the current genocide in Palestine I suppose. We will never forget, but some people have forgotten. In any event, the story could have been better directed. The visuals could have been better. The sound mix was off as well in several places. In some ways, I think the artistic choice had more to do with getting the film to run well in multiple VR systems, than actual artistic vision. Rate 6/10.
I bought this app!
