This is a game where you follow alot of characters. Trough the trials that comes with when a small village loses a person or familiy member , frineds losing a loved one or someone the know. You follow people trying to reconnect. Your following people handling things or going trough things like grief, denial, sorrow, how to move one with once lives. How to move forward and look for the future, How each person handles deaths and what goes with it. It has somme good movements, some happy once. It can be quiet sad at times especially the beginning is quiet sad. The music is good. I like the setting and that it takes place in a small village. Where you see each persons life. The ui is good enough, even if the relationtship tab was so-so, I didnt figure the whole thing out, but is not essensial either , still it gives you an hint at how good some of the peoples realtship status with each other are. The game takes place trough a alot of days, So there are things you wont be able too do, there a choices and you wont be able to see every conversation. I like that you play as different characters. with they own goals, and those you dont play as, they still have they own goals or even routines. Yes is a little weird when you talk to someone and there is another in the same room and the other character dont react at all, that you talk to another person. Or say that person gives you and item, that you supposoed to give to the other person in the same room or something akin to that. I also like that ou can set one character too do something while another character do something different. I like that you can fast forward, that you can stop the time if you want to. That you will get a notfication when some major conversation happens. I also find it cool that every character have they own things the need to do, like some need to read, some sew, some to watch tv and you also need to take into account things like food and sleep. I also find the characters and the story good. And the same with the dialogue. Recommended. If you want a slice of life game. Great game.

Explores grief and how different people process it in various ways. Uses a real time with pause system to allow you to follow characters around the town and make different choices.

I think this is one of the most subtly ambitious narratives from 2024, and while it's not perfect it is worth playing and remembering for how it intertwined many characters stories using the systems of time and status bars to create tension and conflict. If they get a chance to do some kind of spiritual sequel expanding on this design, they could make something even more impressive and dynamic.

Closer the distance brings us to the small fisher village of Yesterby, where tragedy had struck, leaving the villagers heartbroken. We start with one character to guide us through grief and everyday life, but eventually, there are more characters that we can directly control. Of course, we can always watch the others doing their thing, listening to their conversations, but our main focus is on the controllable characters. They have many thoughts and wishes and it's not always easy to manage all of them, as time is limited and most activities have to be done before they want to go to sleep, which limits what we can achieve in one day. Many villagers have business with other characters who are busy with something else and it clutches quite a bit if you want them to fulfill all their wishes. The story was well told and I think it did a good job in showing us how grief affects many people, not just the closest family members. Everyone copes with it differently and it is up to everyone involved to get through this together and slowly move on. I appreciate the story a lot, but I think some parts could've been done better like managing the characters and switching from one conversation to another. Overall, I liked the atmosphere of the game and the music also fits it well.
