This feels like past Roman city builders in the best possible way. Very beautifully designed and the detail really pulls you in. Felt like i truly built a city! Only minus for me and unfortunately its a big one is that the maps for the city are very small and a lot of the big beautiful buildings you can build will end up not being able to fit. Would absolutely love if the developers increased the map size somehow! Great game otherwise.

There is a gap in the game when reaching the second level of the buildings. I hope to solve the problem; the game is beautiful and I enjoyed playing it, but there is just this problem.

I do recommend this game. BUT only to experienced/adventurous players. This is coming from someone who only played the story mode up until now. The game doesnt really have a tutorial so it took me 4 attempts to get things running in the first settlement. So dont be dishartened when you fail a few times. Thats not because the mechanics are overly complex just because they are just different enough and not really explained. Before this ends in a novel i just want to highlight a few positives and negatives: +++ asthetics and visuals ++ general level of detail + interesting mechanics to figure out + music & sounds + forum/market contruction + fair price -- lack of instructions (though i do like to figure things out myself a la "workers and resources") -- bugs (a lot), mostly minor - loading times - in story mode you get ripped from your colony when things just become interesting. - map size - missing QOL in some areas

I really enjoy this game. It scratches an inch I didn't know I had. As your cities get bigger they really come alive because of the detailed 3D models, animations, and city sounds. I also liked the attention to detail and how historically accurate everything is. My only complaint about this game is the map size. I wish the maps were bigger and I hope the developer fixes that. However, I faith he will.

This game still needs a lot of revamp. The maps feel too small, the sandbox is the only real way to play, the career and story mode, your people will starve to death or you'll run out of money and be stuck... far to easy and unnecessary. There are no food production buildings until you reach a certain pop cap and they have to be happy, otherwise its locked/re-locked... which again, leads to starvation. yes, you can get food from local tribes or other settlements but sometimes it's broken and you cannot initiate trade.. thus, starvation. Even when it does work chances are you will struggle keeping people happy enough to generate the taxes needed to import the food... so, yeah, please... please... look into these small but infuriatingly game breaking issues.

Love the mechanics but the space to build anything is so limited it is like you are being punished. Interested to see how this developed but really needs more work to be enjoyable for longer.

I want to recomend this game, I really do, and I do enjoy it, but I absolutely cannot say that anyone should get this game in its current state and it needed, absolutely needed at least a few more months in the oven due absolutely horrific performance and localisation issues. I play Cities Skylines 2, I found its performance on release acceptable to me, I can deal with stutters and such. However, this game, without a agent system like CS:2, and seemingly not a lot that is intensive going on, brings my machine, with a 3600 CPU, 4070 Super GPU, and 16GB of RAM to 14 FPS in my city centre and 10 in a bird's eye view of the city. Despite it having just over 400 people, despite the map sizes in this game being disapointingly small, it just crumbles. I will admit I am running this under Proton, but I have seen a lot of other reviews talking about this and most other games don't have this sort of issue when running with the translation layer. It absolutely needs to be fixed and fixed soon as the game becomes near unplayable even before reaching the final two population levels. Also somehow turning the shadows down made the game run worse!? Don't dare tabbing out either, especially when you think you're paused! Secondly, and a much more minor issue, the English language option has some glaring issues, the biggest one being in the house building view. You'll be looking at the stats of your homes a lot in the early game and you'll notice the section for additional satisfaction spells "Happiness" as "Happyness". Minor, but annoying, just like a few of the glaring examples of AI images used in the game which I do hope get replaced once the dev gets some more sales (after the performance is fixed) to get money for a proper artist. Which is another note as I think this is a breach of Steam's TOS as games are required to post a notice of use of AI generated assets on the store page which isn't here. The game also needs a proper tutorial. I've seen a lot of people complaining about that too. The game doesn't cover nearly enough in the pop ups early game in the career mode, and leaving a lot of things unexplained. For example, when you found your city you see your boat get to a little jetty. Well, you will have food issues early on that can ruin your city, which can all be solved if, like me, you curiously clicked on that tiny, tiny jetty just out of the map and realised you can spend personal funds and reputation to get emergency food shipments. You may also end up placing your alter in the wrong spot and not being able to move it as the game doesn't explain the importance of its placement with the gravitas it needs, and I don't believe you can move it. You may also not realise that you can add gardens to your houses for food, or that you need to press the "v" button to get a guy with a scanning ring to walk around the map to find resource points before you can place things like fishermen huts and clay pits. Just another example of the game, really, really needing more time before release or to have released in EA as you'd think the game would include a tutorial or a in game almanac/wiki considering the esoteric and complex systems here. I will change my review once these get fixed but for now, don't buy this unless you have a utter monster of a PC, can deal with terrible on-boarding, ignore poor localisation, and either don't mind or can look the other way at low quality AI images filling the game, and have a need to play, what is at heart, a wonderfully authentic and passionate Roman city builder. Oh and uh- There are a fair few stupid bugs like if you pause using the "p" button but then unpause by pressing the hourglass in the UI the game will unpause but will have a massive "paused" splash across your screen until you press "p" again.

Best game ever ,have been to Rome and Pompeii ,the research and authenticity that has gone into this historic game is amazing . I am hooked . I know it is still in its early stages can be a bit buggy (not criticising) for one man to achieve all this is awesome. Tony.

The game has some minor bugs but nothing game breaking. It isn't as polished as any of these AAA building games like Anno or similiar. But it's the roman empire and for just a single developer, the game is really great.

The game needs save slots, as well as some more intuitive or guided UI elements, the core gameplay seems promising but I wish it was a bit more polished. Additionally the ability for more finegrained keybinding would be great as well as better tools tips over the various core resources. I will say right now its not a recommend, but if they release a few patches i'll update my review.
