The Days Without Gods was a surprisingly nice read for me. At first I was hesitant about picking this up because the few English reviews did not have great things to say about the translation, but even though it was not great the translation is way better than I expected. It does read really awkwardly, however, it is a far cry better than being machine translated. Even through the funky translation I found it easy to understand the story and the conversations between characters. I greatly enjoyed the world that was built in this novel, it was such a pleasant and unique premise that really hooked me. The art work is also beautiful and has its own unique charm. Though the funky special effects for action scenes weren't great by any means they do convey what was happening at least and that definitely adds a lot of flair to what is basically a 2D picture book. I personally think this is a worth while read and hope to see more people pick this one up someday.

I didn't see any English reviews, and several people were asking in the forum whether the English version is machine translated. Glad to report that the translation is pretty good and definitely not machine translated. From the first 15 minutes or so of speed reading, the story is interesting as well and this is not a low effort visual novel.

The translation is pretty bad and it takes quite a bit of effort to try and understand the 'original' intention of each sentence. That would be OK and tolerable if the story were any good, but it isn't. It does start off somewhat strong but immediately falls into a boring harem setting "because reasons". The story suffers from pacing issues, spending too much time on dull, pointless things, and suddenly skipping forward in time in the next slide. In fairness there is a decent amount of voice acting and lots of dialogue but it's in sore need of some decent translation to carry it.

The English localization of this game is somewhere in between machine translation (I know because I read quite a handful of chinese webnovel that are machine translated) and people whose primary language isn't English or isn't their strong suit. Spelling errors and grammatical errors are to be expected, and those are something that can be easily be overlook. But the issues that I have with the localization is that it is trying to hard to use big words and the way they phrase certain sentences. Here are some example Example 1 and Example 2 . The english localization is both readable and understandable, but I got a headache when my brain try to autocorrect in my head. The artstyle is nice and I really like the music at the main menu. The voice actors are alright but that is based on the first 30 minutes of gameplay only. For the english speakers out there, I can and cannot recommend you getting this. Why? It all depend on your level of tolerance for the mistakes/errors the game have for their English localization. For me, I like it and I would love to dive further to enjoy the story, the music and the art, but the English localization makes me refund the game. BUT I would certainly put this game in my wishlist and get the game once again when there are better English localization.
