After playing RWBY: Grimm Eclipse first, i decided i'm gonna take the gamble and try this game out as well. And i can say, without a shadow of a doubt.
This is worse than Grimm Eclipse.
i'm gonna say this, as nicely and politely as i possibly can because when i say this game legit angered me, i truly mean it.
Let's start with the positives, there's a better soundtrack in Arrowfell than what there was in Grimm Eclipse...Doesn't make it good but at least its tolerable, but after a while i just turned the music off and put on the actual soundtracks of RWBY in the background (Which side note: Season 6 Has the best soundtrack, fight me on that i dare you.) so there is that.
And uhh...that's pretty much it for the positives. Now lets go through the negatives.
Lets start with the simple fact that RWBY does NOT WORK AS A METROIDVANIA! the "battle mechanics" if you can even call them that, are so barebones that the entire thing just boils down to spamming one singular button and sometimes using the semblance of the girls, which often times are just for solving puzzles (yes, there are puzzles in the game, i will get to that in a bit.) or just trying to get the most DPS out of it by using Blake's semblance of shadow clone and Yang to pummel the enemies which i did a whopping...one time...on the final boss...because i was too busy maxing out every characters "skill tree", which by the way, can i just ask, who's idea was to put the skill points in treasure chests? 90% of my playthrough boiled down to looking through every single area of the game to make sure i didn't miss a treasure chest because they contained the skill points, you know, the things you need to max out your already weak characters?
But let's go to the puzzle solving mechanics of the game, which is basically Blake's only existence in the game outside of being a DPS character, because guess what, 9 times out of 10 i just resorted to use Ruby because she's the fastest character in terms of going around in areas, but i'm getting side tracked, the puzzles are just a legitimate hassle to get through because they aren't engaging, or even hard, they're just there to be a nuisance for you, a roadblock to prevent you from going further.
Also, can i just ask, why does a huge chunk of the game remain unvoiced, when all the cutscenes (and yes, i will get to the cutscenes too) are fully voice acted, but not the rest of the game? if you gonna commit to a bit, commit to it fully, not half-ass it. because it just comes off as lazy.
To make a comparison, a game by the name of Dust: An Elysian Tail, has full voice acting, even thought that game is also a Metroidvania, and it also has a few cutscenes as well, even though the game was made by a singular guy, the voice acting wasn't half-assed, and the person who made the game committed to it fully.
And speaking of cutscenes...holy crap the cutscenes are bad, it is Season 1-2 levels of grainy and washed out, and i've played this game on a Full HD monitor, and watched the show regularly on it, the cutscenes just do not look good, it is so muddy and dark that i thought my monitor is acting up and crapping itself out, i don't know if Rooster Teeth wasn't paid properly and they half-assed the entire thing but it is so horrid that whenever there was a cutscene i just wanted it to end as soon as they began.
And by the way, by the f-ing way, who's idea was to have the ranged attack of the characters, you know, the entire point of the gun parts to their weapons and in the entire series. HURT YOU, WHEN YOU SHOOT IT?! It actively DRAINS your health bar and the skills to regenerate it is so slow that often times i had to either dash through the enemies or play hide and seek! that is bad game design 101 if i ever seen one. i don't know who's idea was this, but they clearly never played a video game even if it meant saving their goddamn life.
And to top it all off, if that wasn't bad enough, this game costs nearly 30 Euros...again, in comparison to Dust. That game, costs 15 Euros, and is vastly better than this game, with more and engaging skills and combat, and with a better story too, because guess what, the story of RWBY: Arrowfell is...meh, just meh, its not offensively bad, its just, boring, boring and a slog to get through. And THIS, THIS! IS SUPPOSED TO BE CANON TO THE SHOW! never, in the entire 7th season of RWBY was it ever alluded, never hinted at what Arrowfell is, where Arrowfell is, never was it mentioned, never was it even an easter egg, nothing, absolutely nothing ever suggested that this game is canon to the RWBY Universe, and that's the worst part about this entire game, the story practically being non-canon to the RWBY Universe, hell, even Grimm Eclipse is more of a canon to the RWBY universe than this, because at least Grimm Eclipse TRIED, and it was fully backed by Rooster Teeth, while this game was half-assed and given to a team who probably never even saw or cared about RWBY In the first place, they just saw a huge IP and wanted a slice of pie from it.
If i had to sum this game up in a few words, it would be this: rip-off, it is a rip-off, and an even worse attempt at a cashgrab than whatever the hell Grimm Eclipse was. This is one of the most tedious and shallow game i have ever played, nothing about it was engaging, and i loath myself for buying it. But hey, at least i got an easy 100% on the game, so that has to count for something right?......just kill me already.
Tl:Dr; Game's bad, play Dust: An Elysian Tail instead.
oh, and i had to play this game with a controller, because there was no tutorial what keys to press, you know, on a keyboard...that i was playing from...kill me.
Also, forgot to mention, the hit boxes are hot garbage, and often times i was able to kill enemies high above the ground and what not, i legit abused the hit boxes to the point it wasn't even funny anymore, i doubt this game ever gets updated but if it does, then fix the fucking hit boxes

I liked the sidescrolling gameplay and challenges it presented. I also loved the story that it gave for Team RWBY's first big mission and I believe this is a great source of RWBY content.

Finished the game, I wouldn't say it bad. It short and quick. If your a megaman fan you'll most likely enjoy the gameplay itself. It just the story was bland and pointless, by the end I was ready to be done with the game, even if you are a RWBY fan.

The first chapter feels kind of weak and sluggish, but the rest of the chapters makes up for it quickly. The combat is fun, learning how to use the teams semblances in tandem to overcome obstacles is incredibly satisfying. This game is totally worth it on sale if youre a Rwby fan
