It is fun if you and actually funny at times, the combat gives you variety with the shoes that are unlocked and the general gameplay is satisfying, however, it is what you expect from a boomer shooter, if you like the genre it is a good game, but it might not be a great game for introducing boomer shooters

This is a peak boomer shooter. It kinda gives you a nostalgic feel with the weapon pickups. Very easy to pick up and play. It was inexpensive, so that's a plus!

I got this for $2 on itch.io some 4 years ago when it was being developed, but haven't played it for years as my account got deleted. I saw this on the recent sale and decided to pick it up, haven't played much yet but I'm very much liking how it turned out so far!

A fun and fast paced Boomer Shooter with a great sense of style. Crime City was a fittingly goofy setting, and the gameplay was basic but frenetic, flowing well with an effectively integrated kicking mechanic. It succeeded in making said mechanic feel integral yet never intrusive. The fast pacing was perfect, and it was fun to unlock the various shoes, creating needed variety in the otherwise simple combat (my favourite was the Gamblers). It never dragged.
The visual style was strong in its silliness. The music was fitting, being boisterous and full of bass. The bossfights, whilst unremarkable mechanically, were good spectacles and changes of pace. It was a great choice to tie enemy weapon types to their design because it allowed for intuitive and rapid identification of their threat.
My main issue with the game was its level design. It was divided into four sections for the four respective city gangs. While they all looked distinct, they all played the same, due to the lack of functional differences. They weren’t bad, but lacked any particular novelty or heterogeneity.
Easy recommendation if you like Boomer Shooters, or fast-paced games, like Hotline Miami.

This was fun for the first hour and it quickly became awful. Absolutely awful optimization—it brought my 5090 to its knees with slideshow frame rates in some of the later levels. The later levels also devolved into repetitive trial-and-error gameplay where you are spammed with countless enemies. The boss fights were incredibly janky as well.

Basically a 3D hotline miami. Fast paced action with quick deaths and short levels. I like that each level has alternative goals to give you a reason to replay them a few times. Kicking enemies feels great, and there's a ton of unlockable shoes that change the way you play the game. I had fun with it.

I was promised tentacle stuff , don't get me wrong the feet mechanic and gameplay added a little spice but overall dissatisfied with the lack of tentacles and toe work.

Peak Boomer Shooter.
It's funny, it plays extremely smooth, it has all kinds of different weapons, each with their proper justifications and limitations. And a banger Hardbass soundtrack.
Story exists to tie things together but doesn't get in the way of the action.
So I finished Act One and can assure you, the game is GREAT.
Why is the game fun?
1) Kick — the biggest mechanic in the game is so satisfying. Killing, destroying, sending enemies and doors flying. Sheesh, that feels awesome.
2) Gameplay Flow . You are basically an unstoppable killing machine. Once you die → you respawn immediately and start over again (legacy from Hotline Miami).
The developers managed to make the levels short enough, so you never feel that you lost too much on death. Plus, the respawn sequence is almost non-existent, so you don’t feel any punishment.
3) The Art Style and Music . These two bros match each other perfectly. They both create this non-serious, humorous vibe. It is just perfect to chill after work or a workout.
4) Feeling of mastery . The character is fragile and can die in two-three shots, or from one hit by a crocodile or grenade. Add to this instant respawn and short level length, and you create a perfect game for mastering it.
I ended up remembering the position of each enemy and honing my way of dealing with them (POV thought: kick this guy, shoot these two, throw a weapon at another one, then turn left and so on). So you can feel like a ♥♥♥♥♥♥♥ badass, and that’s a rare experience that games can offer (with moderate or even low effort).
5) Another pro that also rises from the short gameplay loop is the feeling of achievement : completing some challenges is a big deal. They can literally require speedrunning. But once you get through them — the scream of joy and excitement is inevitable (if you are also an emotional gamer :D).
And the last thing is advice:
If you are a perfectionist and always try to get all the stars (=extra challenges) → take my advice and ignore this urge for a bit until you finish the current Act. Why?
1. You will save a decent amount of time, because some of the stars require specific Sneakers to complete them.
2. You will enjoy the game more. I am a perfectionist, and when I stopped caring about earning all the stars, I immediately increased the joy of playing. But I didn’t abandon the idea of completing the extra challenges.
