Brilliant game. Very chill to play. Astroneer type graphics but with more focused game play. Can't wait for the next region to be unlocked.

I do recommend this game. I enjoy the time pressure of "oh g-d I gotta set all this stuff up pronto" as soon as you arrive on an asteroid and "oh g-d there's so much stuff left" during the last five minutes when your cargobots and you are rushing to load everything onto the shuttle. I have no qualms with the mining-at-an-asteroid segment of the game My big qualm with the game is with manufacturing. Having a mechanic for turning raw ingredients into refined ones is neat and I like that, but what I don't like is how slow it is. After working an asteroid for 30 minutes, it took *over two hours* of sitting still in the middle of space while waiting for everything to process. And that includes time it processed while I was *still actively mining*. It feels like no one tested it, which is bizarre for how critical it is to progression starting at the second station. 30+ seconds for one craft that needs to run 200 times is insanity. It needs to be like 5 seconds per craft max, and even that would lead to sitting around AFKing.

Great game, lots of fun even in the early access stage. I got 59hrs to finish all upgrades, probably you could fit it under 50 if you weren't big on manufacturing and completing quests like me. Waiting to see the development go on!

I love the idea for this game, but the game play loop feels surprisingly underdeveloped? None of the 3 main elements (resource gathering, building, asteroid hopping) feel like they reinforce each other correctly. That said, none of them are done poorly, so you can easily plug a few hours into the game and still have a good time, it just doesn't feel like it has any carrying power. I felt I'd experienced most of the game after 2 hours. To improve the game: Make all elements reinforce the others. Note: Reinforce does not mean increase. Action games are not reinforced by an open world setting because you can get into more fights. They are reinforced by allowing for more freedom in engagement (Far Cry, ghost of tsushima, etc.), or by providing variety in fights and bosses (god of war). Fundamentally, the combat in these games do not change as you progress, but the way you engage with it keeps you going. In this game, as far as I got anyway, there is nothing your buildings can do that you cannot. You can break every rock, and gather every resource on your own. The machines simply let you gather faster, but you still need to swing by and grab the little bits the bots don't grab. Instead, maybe have a node you can't mine, but that's dense with resources. Have a depot that collects resources in a radius, fills a large container the player can't carry, and a specialized bot has to grab. Unique traversal things like a jump pad or zip line, or ways to pacify environmental hazards. For asteroids, maybe different resource asteroids have very unique challenges? Like some have electric charges you have to work around, or dust storms, or even hostile fauna. Maybe some resources are volatile and can easily explode so you have to build safe routes. Or building vertically is super necessary, and resources are embedded in cliff sides on the edge of asteroids. With 5 hours, all the asteroids felt the same, just different colored plants and rocks.

Not a strong recommend, but a recommend nonetheless. It's had a few bugs here and there, but the worst have been patched (mainly the worker bot bugs.) Astronomics involves you taking some basic equipment, setting up a temporary mining operation on an asteroid, managing your weight on your shuttle and freighter, and then packing up and hauling everything back to the station before the asteroid leaves your mining claim. Despite the timer it's a fairly chill experience and is low-stress. The only negative I'd really say is manufacturing, a subsystem in the game, feels like an unnecessary time gate. On your freighter, you have a module that allows you to convert some materials into others, however most of these with some small exceptions do not give you any financial edge ($450 of iron and $600 of nickel give you $1050 of steel rods for instance) or reduce the weight. The process is also slow, and while it's operating the resources take up space in your cargo. Usually you just want to start crafting stuff, then nap at a station to sell the final products--which kinda defeats the purpose of it being a facility on board your freighter. Beyond that, the game's decent, it's pretty honest about what it is, and the devs are attentive to it.

Rogue-like asteroid mining + progressive automation, delivers in a somewhat grindy but satisfying gameplay loop.

TL;DR a fine casual purchase now, maybe a really good game later. The tutorial is horrifying, as is not uncommon. The core gameplay is fine in the early game, though grindy. I'd like to think that'll not only become more interesting as the game goes on but also as the game is further developed. The feel reminds me of Hardspace:Shipbreaker in the way we break, launch for collection, and are rushed to complete for pennies on the dollar. Please make tutorials non-mandatory. I'd much rather play and figure it out with good tooltips than be forced to learn how to use the mouse to move the camera, FFS!

A fun mining game that starts off very simple and ramps up into more of a strategy game as you get more equipment and larger asteroids to mine. Progression is tied to jumping to new stations, and I've made it to station 3 out of 8 (possibly? Not sure how many are currently in the game in early access). + The timer on each asteroid isn't too punishing if you go over, and it makes the gameplay more interesting, I think, as you're often trying to set up equipment as quickly as possible to mine for you. + Control scheme is simple and works pretty well, you aren't fighting it too often. + Music is calm and fits the vibe. + Asteroids are varied enough where you can do a lot of different strategies. + Low-poly art style is pleasing to look at. - Manufacturing could be x5 faster, and I think it'd still be too slow. As I'm writing this, I'm waiting for some materials to process down so I can warp back to the station. It's slightly better if you leave it running while you're mining, but even then, I've had so many times where I just sit there waiting for some resources to process. - Combat doesn't feel like it adds too much, though maybe it gets more interesting further into the game. I've seen shields and turrets, so maybe those help it out. - If you're on a slightly different elevation as an enemy, you can't shoot them. - It does feel a little grindy at times. I've only made it to the third station, but still haven't completed most missions at the second station because of the massive amount of manufactured resources you need. - Having to constantly swap tools on the bot is a little annoying, since you basically always want the grabber equipped. You always have to swap between the mining laser, the blaster (whenever enemies show up), and the scanner (usually only used once per asteroid). - In terms of bugs, nothing too game-breaking. But the worker robots get stuck pretty often, which can be really annoying.
