You know what, I haven't played it for a long time, but it's actually pretty fun.

Got this game a while back but had to get a refund.
Really wanted to like this game, I love RPG's!
But it seems very unplayable atm.
Enemies rush up to you sounding like they will tear you apart then just stand there, while you casually one shot them! (I was lvl 1)
Would like to see if down the road it can get fixed.
Might try it later if the dev fixes it, it did look like it had some great potential!

Considering this is v0.1, this is a great showing for a first game. While I would say there are better games for the same $5 price tag, if you've already played those and are looking to just experiment with early-access indie games on Steam, you could do a lot worse than Cryptr. Controls/movement feel slippery and don't provide much feedback, but the exploration is where it shines at this point in development. It's also being actively developed, as the game has come a long way from when I first tried it months ago, so if you're interested in tracking how a developer's first indie game goes about being developed, this would make an interesting case study.

Cryptr
A RPG hack and slash dungeon crawler, adventure
Choose your class from Skeleton Mage to Archer and fight you way though dungeons
visuals and graphics are quite good and game is good
it also has a editor so you can make you own dungeon which you share in the Steam Workshop when its up and running
I definitely recommend to anyone how likes dungeon hack n slash games

cute little indie game. impressive for a solo developer. they have been responsive to my emails about bugs. the game needs some work but it's fun and has potential for being early access

Saw this game was on discount and picked it up. Here's my review after about 8 hours of play. The sale price is generous considering there's around 23 gigs of content to explore. I love the camera effects and the UI! The amount of playable characters gives the game a nice RPG feel although it's somewhat basic. The talent trees feel like a step in the right direction there. Hoping there will be more playable classes added! I had the most fun with the casters and the dual wield classes. Wish that some enemies would attack faster as sometimes it takes a moment for them to engage. There's only vendor so the in-game currency might benefit from adding new purchasable items from new vendors. Judging by the amount of patches and what the developer has posted so far I think there's a lot of potential for a simple hack and slash style game like this one. If you don't mind a few relatively minor bugs, like certain enemies at times able to walk through walls on some levels, then you just might like this game, too. The bugs I did encounter didn't detract from the majority of the game being a fun experience for such a cheap game.

one of the best small studios out there.
game is awesome! i can't believe it's like 1-2 people making this.
DEV PUTS OUT CONSTANT UPDATES AND LISTENS TO COMMUNITY SUGGESTIONS!!
reminds me of Champions of Norrath for PS2

Fun game for how cheap it is. Needs some obvious improvements like icons displaying the dungeon exit, more enemies, and better AI responsiveness.

50% off, and immediately felt ripped out of 5$, how can this even be a 12$ game? couldn't even play for more than 15 minutes, here's why.
The game is INCREDIBLY buggy, very lame, and way too lacklustre. Attacking felt delayed and super janky, dishing out combos was unreliable, rolling felt like slipping on ice and the GUI feels incredibly scuffed, way too large or way too condensed. Most of the assets styles and quality are inconsistent and non-cohesive. The styles for most GUIs like inventory vs stat distribution screen also are incredibly inconsistent.
The animations are also terrible, I couldn't even distribute my stats when I leveled up, UI layout and buttons are scuffed, and I couldn't tell or see if I had stat points to spend when I leveled up a couple times, on top of this, you cannot get new gear such as new weapons, armors, trinkets or shields to equip to advocate build diversity or anything
Would also like to say I noticed health bars on enemies disappear, and skeletons would float when walking off of obstacles or platforms, and AI would constantly ignore me to run away.
Trees also had issues with rendering and the game is like 8 gigabytes and the files are massive, and lack optimization
The main menu is of a dog (skinwalker) and at first I thought I was playing as the dog itself. Loading screens would freeze as well.
Everytime I'd die my character would let me spin in circles and icons for skills don't have timers or active cooldowns displayed either.
There are many other games by solo or small indie developers I could compare this game to that are just as cheap like Rune Knights, or going a little further, Dungeons of Sundaria. Another dungeon crawler related indie game.
This game does have a couple things going for it however like class diversity, and would probably make for a good story driven dungeon crawler, has potential, just hasn't realized any of it yet. Would also like to see many more mechanics and fixes. As it is, game should be free.
Code is probably recycled, and the assets seems like they're probably just free unity store assets.

There is a unique aspect to this game that I have not found in any others I've played. The post processing and lighting effects make Cryptr visually stunning and they are present in all the numerous areas, each one different from the last. Game play mechanics are also silky smooth and satisfying -- perfect for a hack and slash. The physics are solid, but also catch you by surprise in the best ways. I definitely recommend Cryptr, especially for people who appreciate exploration in a game.
Go forth and discover!
