I really want to like this, but by the mighty jinn this game is buggy. Many card combos don't work, like the card that say you gain hp every time you deal dmg, well, I have a card that deals dmg at the start of every turn, so why am I not getting healed? And then there's a card that I can make a copy of the enemy, so I copied an enemy that deal dmg to all enemies (the root tentacle thing on one of the bosses?) Guess what, when the enemy use the attack it hits all of us, but when I use it it's only single target... Or the power I have that converts banished cards into discard... that also doesn't work when banishing cards.
I like the story and writing. And I really want to find out more about the characters... I can even ignore the game running poorly and the max resolution is only 1080p. But it's hard to actually play and enjoy the game when my first character/build is faced with so many issues that it's not fun to play. Also the level of difficulty scales up wayyyyyy too quickly. It goes from easy > kinda easy > challenging > ded. Another gameplay issue is taht you can't tell exactly what the enemies are going to do. This could be by design but it's a guessing game. Yes you can narrow down the options by seeing who the enemy is targeting, but there are cards that lets you use the enemy's own move against them... so guessing which move out of the 2 they are doing is very silly IMO.
BTW is it just me or the "tutorial" is non existent? Funny thing is that you can even toggle if you want a tutorial in the option, well it's on by default but I don't see any? The game looks polished but plays like it's in alpha, not even beta.

I'm actually really enjoying myself, much more than I had anticipated. The gameplay is right on the money, everything is smooth and it feels "good" to play. It's as if Child of Light, Heroes of Might and Magic and Slay the Spire had a baby.
It's pretty simple to pick up and I very much enjoy the variety of the characters, the Combatant is personally the most fun, there are times where I can just one shot enemies with some insane crits.
Art definitely grew on me as well, it has a very uncommon but beautiful style, it's dark and soothing at the same time, I would like to see more of this.
This is still Early access as well, so can't wait to see how it becomes on full release!

Refugee from Slay the Spire here... I strongly recommend Desert Revenant. Though card battlers are not usually my default genre, but Desert Revenant was able to impose itself as my next home for the few months to come.
I wish more streamers pick it up so we form a strong community around the game.
The early game may be daunting with many new complex abilities in the deck, but seeing their magic when they synergize is a huge satisfaction.
The game grows on you, and give you never ending depth with the concept of minions, charms, and talents.
The narrative, through visuals, dialogs, progressions, and abilities is very well woven and homogeneous, an additional layer of lore to improve the experience even more.
The game updates have been great so far and I hope the goods keep coming...!

Still far from complete, but very promising campaign and turn-based gameplay! Kudos to the developers!

In it's current state I cannot recommend this game.
Pros
- Artwork is nice
- Music is top notch
- Plenty of variety in cards
Cons
- Completely directionless. No sense to what you are supposed to be doing.
- Flexibility in the two classes is pretty non-existent to start with.
- Very difficult. I have over 1000 hours on Slay the Spire and this is much harder than that.
- Animations are slow.
It certainly has potential but it needs a lot of work to reach the heights of it's peers.

I wish there was a neutral option, but this is a narrow downvote for me.
Some of the mechanics are interesting, but the UI and game systems are just a little opaque to the point that I was never quite sure how much damage something would do or how much I would take. It also wasn't clear whether I was stumbling into an optional boss or if I was fighting who I was supposed to fight.
Still, an okay game, just not one I can recommend for all but the most hardcore roguelike deckbuilder fans.

Desert Revenant is such an amazing gem of title. A unique fun, indie feeling art style matched with an excellent gameplay experience. The story is compelling as well. I am surprised to see such a well polished title out of a Steam Early Access game. If you like RPG's and Card games, this is a MUST own.

Feels very polished for an Early Access game. I really enjoy summoning creatures endlessly (My favorite feature of the game by far). It's a nice twist that isn't very common in other games of this genre.
Also having NPCs give you cards that aren't from your deck is a super cool idea. I haven't tried curses yet, but looking forward to it.
