It's very good. Play it on the hardest difficulty. Hold spacebar + A to win.

Holy-moly I really like Herald of Havoc! I was put off by how it looked (the art style is nice, I just thought it looked like one of those Unity asset games), but its so fun. The guns are cool, the quantity of enemies is hectic, and the game really packs in those moments that just make you feel like a wrecking ball. Very fun.

Short but tremendously sweet retro throwback FPS with inventive levels and some of the best weapons in the genre. Never thought I'd be a fan of pistol-spawning on every level but this really makes it work. Really good stuff for genre fans.

This game is a kindergarten boy's fever dream. Something like this: So you're this KNIGHT in SPACE and you fight OTHER SPACE KNIGHTS with a COOL SWORD and LASER GUNS that go PEW PEW but also can SET ENEMIES ON FIRE! And then there's A BAZILLION KNIGHTS running at you but you BEAT THEM WITH YOUR SWORD! And then, and then, you get this FLAME THROWER which throws FIREBALLS and FIREBALLS that EXPLODE INTO MORE FIREBALLS! And then you have this LIGHTNIG SECRET WEAPON that just goes BZZZZAT! BOOOM! But I'm bored now. So here's a CHAINGUN that also can SHOOT OUT DYNAMITE like a SHOTGUN! Wait, I know! A SHOTGUN that fires FAST like a CHAINGUN! A CHAIN SHOTGUN! BAM BAM BAM BLAM BLAMMM and then it can BLAMM a bunch of bullets ALL AT ONCE! KABLAAM! Oh wait, this makes you run out of bullets. HERE'S INFINITE AMMO! BABABABAMMMM What's this, there this BAD-ASS BIG KNIGHT! With a SUPER SHOTGUN! Oh no! But it's fine, here's a SCYTHE that you can use TO MAKE BAD GUYS FIGHT FOR YOU! WOLOLO as my grandpa says, he played this game called AGE-PYRE or something! Anyway! Yes! Laser knights! BULL KNIGHTS with AXES! Mino-tors! Yes? PUNCH THEM IN THE FACE with ROCKET FISTS! YEAH! And the best thing? It works. It's well-tuned, well-paced, and allows you to indulge in a power fantasy without being easy. It does this better than Boltgun, which serves a similar experience. All enemies are essentially dudes in armour, but their behaviours and weapons give it enough variety. The enemies act in interesting ways, too; Some just charge you and let you slice em up, but some do "wolf tactics" and try to surround you. And even though some weapons feel very overpowered, stronger enemies will still put up a fight and take a bunch of hits. I'm not sure how this excellent balance is achieved, but it's there. The level design is minimal when it comes to worldbuilding and lore, and there isn't a lot of detail to the look; but it's consistent, and I honestly liked the aesthetic. But most importantly, it's well-designed from a gameplay standpoint. You won't get lost much; the levels are interconnected yet have a good, intuitive flow to them. Oh, and you always start a level with only the base weapons - so the difficulty "resets" on every level. This adds an interesting layer to the difficulty where you have to adapt to the situations using whatever arsenal you have available at the moment. I liked this a lot more than I thought I would. Thanks, Zeldars Zone. My inner 5-year-old enjoyed himself greatly. Taking care of your inner child has never been so metal. And if you, dear reader, are wondering if the game is worth the price - you get a very tight, engaging experience. 6 hours might not be a lot, but these are some bangin' 6 hours. And you can always replay on HAVOC difficulty. 37% of players got to the end, just so you know. Short and sweet old school Quake like game. I know some don't like the minimalistic visuals but I actually don't mind, it's fast enough that you really don't want that much visual detail because then you'd have a harder time parsing what you are shooting. I do think there is an over-reliance on sections where they lock you in a room and spawn a bunch of enemies. Also I think the last boss fight suffers because you are forced to use what I feel like was the least satisfying weapon in the game. Otherwise the weapons and powerups were great and really shined on levels with great pacing. I would be interested to see what else this developer puts out in terms of future projects.
