One of the most amazing tactical RPGs I've ever played. Incredible depth and nuance added to the characters which is incredible when you consider the large amount of recruitable characters (like Suikoden, though not as much). And the characters each have their own unique story arcs that add to that individual character: both in gameplay (i.e. a new finishing move or some sort of passive powerup) as well as adding a depth to the character. For instance, one character came across as brash and egotistical but as I progressed through their story I found myself not just sympathesizing but also loving the character to the point they became undroppable for me. And I recruited them quite late into my run so my team had been formed already meaning I had to go and find a way to fit them in (at the cost of another character).
The open world nature of the game is a very nice touch in that it allows you to move the plot however you want. You can join most sects though usually there are requirements to achieve or progress towards before being able to do so. Be aware though that the sheer scope of the game may make you lose sight of the main storyline... which is also completely up to you on how you achieve the ending (or endings rather as there are many different routes available). This also means it has amazing replay value especially when you can start a new game with bonuses gained in the last one. I.e. I created several new moves for MC by combining legendary skills together - had them saved for retrieval in NG+.
There's so much more to say but to summarize, I've been playing RPGs for 30 years now and this has gone right to the top of a very big pile. Get it, you won't be disappointed.

It was my first time playing a Wuxia game and I was very hooked! I love the concept of you can do anything in the world, In this game you are truly free. I played the game for a week straight trying out different playstyles and sects, personally I love the Langya Sword Pavillion sect because I love using the sword!
I also like the uniqueness on how the achievements affect your gameplay. As you create your own character you can select unique traits, but is limited by your "points". You can increase these points by unlocking achievements essentially making you stronger the more you play! Also, by unlocking achievements you'll also unlock different traits for your character! It's a unique mechanic that made me play for hours!
Though it is a little bit grindy, seeing your character beat sect leaders is very satisfying!
10/10 would recommend

I really love this game. It’s fun building relationships with the characters, I like how the NPCs look and dress, and mixing different skills is awesome. But it’d be way cooler if the characters’ outfits and weapons actually changed depending on what they’re wearing or using. 10/10

A damn ambitious game. I respect its scope and love what it is. Closest thing we have to a wuxia bethesda game. The amount of detail and love put into this is simply charming.

I would play this if I got it on my phone and I was on my way to work on the train.
The early game is pretty good and fun, the core ideas there are solid, but the later you go into the game the more issues start to show.
Main issues are with the Wisdom stat, the main way to get them and the connection to the main quest. This stat is earned mainly through solving the school poem exams. The problem is when you translate things that do not have a clear 1 to 1 structure like poems, they usually lead to a lot of misunderstandings and this game is already suffering from "english = early access". Without using guides to make sure you get the right answers for the school exams you are basically locked out of the main quest and another problem is how the exams are time gated and require full reset if you fail. Time gate can be forgiven for realism but the grind + difficulty in language + punishment for failing is just way to much to go through.
I have also been doing some sector quest on the side and those are just pure pain, I do not know how exactly they work but I assume you do the same basic task over and over again until the sector leader notices your effort. Why could not there just be quest chains for this instead of repeating the same boring time wasting quest. Of course I have not done these quest more than like 3-5 times, so maybe the factions get interesting quest after like 10 clears? But I just can not be bothered anymore.
The early game really allows you to feel the essence of freedom this game can allow its players to experience but the deeper you go the worse the grind seems to get and that exponential effort just seems to scale way too high. I really liked what they presented at the start and the way they are using achievements, but in its current state I do not believe this game is worth playing until the game is more polished.

While it is not nearly as good as Wandering Sword, Hero's Adventure is STILL a really good wuxia game held back by wonky translation that can create some confusion about mechanics and such as well as being quite unforgiving build wise to a point where you may not be able to complete the ending you wanted if you go in entirely blind without a game plan.
The additional mechanics such as crafting and other non-combat skills are a hit or miss with some skills feeling unnecessairly grindy most likely to pad out the playtime for completionists.
The writing albeit suffering from being poorly translated, was still perfectly serviceable for a game like this. The only major flaw in regards to writing is that after their respective story missions and VERY occasional interjections (for me it was 3~ across 40 hours), companions are essentially manequins. I assume it is in part due to the sheer number of them.
Additional kudos for giving players new game unlocks related to achievements you get, I love stuff like that.
