*** Asterix stands for first impression.
After about 15 minutes, I think I have the jist of this game. Even at budget level (approx 3 dollars), I would stay away from this one.
Does not appear to be a reasonable story (I made games at 12 years old that had much more of a plot and narrative than this). What you are left with is a paltry map, if you can even call it that, with a series of encounters and rewards. So, imagine a very budget final fantasy that is only random encounters, with poor graphics, obnoxious sound, and well...nothing else.
Maybe there is more to discover, but I struggled to get past the 15 minute mark, and quite honestly, there are tons of games that are free that are better than this. I surmise that this was a blatant attempt to make a quick buck with no real game behind it. Hard pass.

Explore the expansive and shadowy dungeon, where you will gather the souls of warriors to aid your kingdom. Enhance the character's skill system to confront the multitude of fierce monsters that lie in wait. Acquire rare equipment and develop unique characters from an extensive database containing hundreds of skills and items.
Assume the role of Patricia, a Keres tasked with collecting the souls of fallen warriors. Following the directives of Hel, the queen of the underworld, she ventures into Midgard—the realm of humans—to maintain the balance of power over Asgard. Throughout her journey, Patricia encounters a myriad of peculiar tales, various demons, and bizarre monsters that have never been witnessed, even in the depths of hell.
I dedicated 1.5 hours of my time to this experience, time that could have been better spent on more significant activities, such as taking a lengthy, satisfying break, which, I must say, would yield a far superior outcome than this endeavor.

RPG Maker strikes again!
Valkyrie Nemesis is one of hundreds of low effort retro-pixel RPG Maker asset/construction kit flips spamming the Steam catalog, made with the RPG Maker video game construction kit... in their own words, "Our easy to use tools are simple enough for a child." Like all RPG Maker "games", this is essentially a bunch of low quality/canned assets from RPG Maker coupled with a cringeworthy high school anime club fan fiction.
This one is only notable for a couple of reasons... the sheer laziness of the developer exceeds almost every other RPG Maker asset flipper to ever disgrace the gaming industry, apart from just ripping off Norse mythology, badly (and this is the second of these RPG Maker crapfests I've had the displeasure of reviewing from this "developer). Too lazy to come up with your own fantasy stuff? Just rip off a religion, they're in the public domain! So you can see just what kind of trash we're dealing with here.
Equally lazy, the game seems to mostly be just one map and a bunch of really badly laid out encounters. Character abilities aren't fleshed out properly, everything is a cooldown... at least most RPG Maker asset flippers spend a little time filling out stuff with the tool to create some kind of generic crap Final Fantasy ripoff. Not here, that's too much work apparently.
As with all RPG Maker games, the poor quality engine displays badly in fullscreen and doesn't have full HD support or any graphics tweaking options, making this unacceptable for any dedicated modern PC gamer. The point can be made that the intention of RPG Maker is to make demos and small games to pass around friends, and shouldn't be used for "professional" game development.
Like most RPG Maker shovelware and asset flips, the game features extremely low quality copy + pasted 2D retro pixel art, looks awful, and has even worse gameplay. RPG Maker is an absolutely terrible construction kit, and never results in games of any reasonable quality or value to gamers.
The poor quality of this game is reflected by how many people spent time with it. At the time of this review, SteamDB shows the all-time peak player number was only 3 players. This is a remarkably low number, and now, the only player activity occurs once or twice a month, presumably someone loading it up to see what it is then quickly uninstalling it. Considering there's over 120 million gamers on Steam and well over 50,000 games for gamers to choose from (over 9,000 completely free titles), the overwhelming lack of interest in this low quality game is to be expected.
Valkyrie Nemesis has the insane price of around $4 USD, it's not worth it given the defects and shortcomings with the product, especially considering the sheer number of completely free, much higher quality games on Steam. Gamers who want a good retro JRPG experience would be better off playing the originals, like Final Fantasy, Star Ocean or Chrono Trigger.

The description makes it seem like it could be a good game, but alas it is not!
The game is clearly made with RPG Maker MZ by someone that does not really know how to use the system. The battle system is Basic turn based system where all your attacks have cool downs, the enemy however is not limited in the same way, so you will spend turns doing nothing (not even a defend option) while the enemy is still attacking you.
You find other chars along the way, but no matter how many floors you are into the game they always start on lv 1. If you are extremely lucky you can find 1 or 2 of the 3 characters with a healing ability very early (the first floor or 2) if you get them any later than that they will likely die in 1 hit and they don't heal much as it is, but at least it's something.
Status effect continue after battle for both positive and negative effects and will wear off by walking around, but while positive effects like regen will not heal you while walking around. negative effects like burn and poison will damage you while walking around. I have had characters die while outside of battle because of burn.
On the map you will have an option of 2 - 4 rooms to choose from, choose which one you want to use carefully because as soon as you interact with anything in a room you are locked into that room and can not go into any of the other rooms.
So far that I have found the things you can interact with are
Mob - Fight 1 or 2 Mobs
Blue flame - recruits an ally I have had as many as 6 characters but only 3 can go into battle and only the ones in the battle gain exp. Also important to note that the enemies get stronger with each floor but the recruits always start on lv 1. past floor 3 or 4 they will almost always die in 1 hit.
Grave stone - same as Blue flames
Angel Statues - These mostly give negative status effects like burn, poison, blind, slow...etc. But I have 1 time gotten Skillful of course the game doesn't tell you what it does and in the same room I hit a statue for blind both effects last 20 turns or a whole lot of steps. I also once got a party fully healed from a statue unfortunately it was on floor 1 and the only other thing in the room was a blue flame. RNG has not been with me in this game so far.
Save Crystal - saves the game
Treasure box - can have anything from gold, equipment, or skills(main char only) you main char starts with 4 skills and can have 5 max. after you fill the fifth slot you then get to choose to swap out skills or not. You can reroll the treasure box once for free and an additional 4 more times for gold (for each treasure box) so if you don't like what you got don't hesitate to reroll. The rerolls will always be the same type ie if you reroll an equipment treasure it will be another equipment same for skill treasure boxes. Gold treasure boxes can not be rerolled.
Big Crystals - Boss, MUCH STRONGER than the mobs on that floor but if you manage to survive they also give much more exp and gold
Each room will contain between 1 and 4 objects.
Death!! It's going to happen, likely very early and very often. When you die You talk to Hel(ruler of the Underworld) who informs you that it's ok because since you are working for her that you have infinite tries. After dying you start back at LV 1 at Floor 1. with none of the Gold, Items, Skills, Allies, or Equipment that you collected on the previous run. THAT'S RIGHT YOU START FROM SCRATCH!!!!!
The farthest I have made it is Floor 12.
If after reading this you are feeling particularly masochistic and want to try it out. Here are a couple of tips...
Floor 1 get at least 1 ally preferably 2 and hopefully 1 is a healer.
Floor 2 make sure you have at least 2 allies. If not end the game and try again.
After you have at least 3 characters you should prioritize rooms with multiple treasures and or Mobs
Avoid the Angel statues like the plague, unless you literally just saved. While you can just walk off Blind or slow, Burn and Poison will Kill you.
If you are not having a good run saving is useless. The 1 time I saved I died on the next floor and no matter how many times I reload that save I always die on the next floor. Saving when you are half dead is not helpful!
If you decide to play good luck and may RNGesus be with you.
