While this game seems to be the least scary out of all the Pixel Pulp games, I believe that it's also the most underrated. If I were to make a ranking, this would be my 2nd favorite, overshadowed only by Bahnsen Knights. What it lacks in explicit horror elements, it makes up with this overwhelming feeling of childlike wonder and camp. There is a sense of nostalgia, both in the portrayal of summer vacation our characters spent as children, contrasted with grey, mundane world of today, with broken promises and broken lives led them to meet each other once again. Despite it's idyllic nature, there is also a sense of dread and hidden horror, when it comes to the 1954 segments. You can feel, that there is something sinister moving behind the scenes, weather this would be Liszt's sinister stories, or the mysterious absence of Doug from modern day segments. The relationship between the characters and the vampire is a perfect combination of cheesy/childishly written and geniuinely heartfelt - something akin to Spielberg's E.T. and it's many imitators.
Overall, you should give this game a try, and I hope that Pixel Pulp will keep on making varied and unique games, like this one.

I wasn't sure the Stand By Me meets vampires thing would work but this was another great tale and tied in nicely with the previous story.
