This game with its very pixelated, blurred graphics, funny sound effects and silly weapons give a realy strange gameplay experience. Alot of small details on maps and main weapon ammo reload visual. On every levelup you can choose a passive effect then next an active skill. Every character have a special weapon and you can choose a ranged firearm as secondary. All weapons and skills auto-shoot-aim as we used to it in this genre.
There is enough progress to unlock with Meta passives, characters and weapons.
Recommended little silly game.

Game chugs to a halt on some levels with too many bugs on screen, if you can get past the 3 min mark then the game loses all challenge, far too easy to farm resources to get all unlocks in just a few playthroughs. Needs a rebalance, otherwise some fun aspects to the game that are overshadowed by the problems.
Recommended because of the price
Gave this a shot as one of the many Indie games I discovered via browsing on social media. Nice little time waster, for the price it's a steal and it's worth it to burn 20-40 minutes when you have time to spare and can't invest more than that before something else comes up. So definitely a recommended if you can't get enough of these types of games especially for this low price. I think there are other games of this genre that grabbed me more, but it's a competently developed title just lacking on the special sauce to make it amazing.
On a scale of 1-10, I would give this a 6/10 (see feedback below) if it had cost anything more than $5, but because of the price I would bump it to a passing 7/10 grade.

[*] Not having new characters be permanent free unlocks (as in i always have to spend money to use one besides base), or at least it didn't display as much in my game. As an aside, characters only being unlocked by the in-game currency and not other challenges (or at least it didn't seem like they were) means I have little reason to keep playing a level or to attempt other things besides the most damage effective. I know the economy is more than enough to not worry about it but at least my progress bar obsessed brain likes knowing I've permanent gotten something.
[*]I would suggest something to make it clear that you can dodge/shoot in the game. I discovered this after dying a few runs and later realizing I could do so. Not a dealbreaker but even a small button prompt screen when you start a run would be useful.
[*]Balancing/difficulty (The biggest issue with the game). I did two different runs with two different characters using different weapons and with both of them I was easily surviving a few minutes in, absolutely untouchable for the remainder of the 20 minute run. I saw no reason to unlock permanent upgrades to make myself stronger when I was already surviving a whole run with no other upgrade besides another gun.
------------------------
I think you have the technical skills and creativity to make something INCREDIBLY good, now it's refining the weaker aspects and adding more to the overall package and I could see you making an absolutely amazing game.

Entomophobia is a fun game. It reminds me of Leaf Blower Revolution. The power ups are fun and the randomness makes you change your play style and still makes it fun.

The art is the strongest thing going for this game, lots of fun stylistic touches. However the gameplay feels hollow. It isn't bad per se, but it's a dumbed down version of the games it's aping.
It needs a lot more polish.

It's a fun VampSurv style horde killer. It's somewhat harder to level (which is a plus to me), and it's very pixel retro. But it's still fun, so if you don't mind the rough edges, it's a nice playable change of pace for watching a stream and zoning out.

Well, this is the first steam game I've ever returned. I've been devouring survivor-likes and playing a ton and this unfortunately has been my worst experience. There is literally no tutorial or even basic instructions, and even if you think your game's controls are obvious, they're not. Is there auto-aim? Is there auto-fire? How do I dash? Figure it out yourself, says the dev, I'm not going to tell you. The maps are ugly and the color scheme makes it hard to see things, to the extent that on my first run I wasn't levelling up at all and it was because I didn't realize I wasn't picking up dropped experience because I couldn't even see them on the map and didn't realize they were there. The map has color divisions that look like they should be solid walls, but nope, you can just walk all over them-- until you get to the actual edge of the map which looks pretty much the same, but you can't walk through it. The game breaker (literally) for me was the dash mechanic. I thought the game was broken because in my first 2 runs the dash stopped working after a few seconds, but then I realized (i think, as I said there are zero instructions so I could be wrong) that you only get 4 or 5 dashes and they don't seem to regenerate. So besides not telling the player this, what the f is the point? So after you use your limited dashes, you're just screwed? This feels like a half-assed school project that deserves a C- at best. I don't like crapping on small devs, but this should not have been released in it's current state.

Entomophobia
Entomophobia is a bug-slaying bullet-heaven where you collect a variety of unique weapons and upgrades unlike anything I have seen in a bullet-heaven so far. It currently has a few issues but it is early-access so they may be addressed by full release, it is also fairly easy once you know what upgrades to take and I found myself afking to farm the 1,000,000 kills achievement.

Gameplay
There are 8 characters in this game each with different stats, starting weapons and abilities, you also get a choice of gun to take with you, of which there are 5. Characters and guns can be unlocked by either completing achievements or buying them with meta-currency.
There are a tonne of weapons in this game and they all act and are visually unique to anything I have seen in other bullet-heavens, how many games can you slay enemies with cornflakes, waffles and lemons while using a sniper rifle? You can take up to 5 weapons and passives total, as well as a stackable augment at every level. There's currently no way to tell when a weapon is max and there are no rerolls or banishes to help you get what you want.
There are 3 maps in the game that all play basically the same as one another, the only real difference being slightly less space to move around, which is only more difficult for the first few minutes of each run. Enemies come in the same waves at the same time in each run, with each run lasting 20 minutes. Most enemies play the same but a few will back away from you while shooting projectiles and bosses come every 4 minutes or so dropping you extra upgrades.
You get Shells while you play which can be spent on new characters, weapons and meta-upgrades, there are only 5 meta-upgrades that are very passive, by the time I had killed 1,000,000 bugs for the achievement I had an extra 22,000 shells that I couldn't spend on everything. There needs to be another sink to spend these on, preferably more combat upgrades.
The game in it's current state is too easy, it becomes trivial after about 5 minutes if you know what upgrades to pick, I would personally like some sort of difficulty modifiers similar to 20 Minutes Till Dawn's Darkness levels that allow for a bit more of a challenge.

Achievements (18/18)
95% of your time with the achievements in this game will be spent farming the 1 million bug kills, it helps to play on the River map as enemies are pushed from outside the map quite close to you and you can average around 25,000 kills per run, It took me a total of 30 hours to grind both kills and deaths.

Music/sound
There are a few different songs in the game that fit well, but they get repetitive after a while.

Settings/Accessibility/Misc
No rebindable controls. Auto-aim available. In-game achievement menu to see progress. Enemy outlines, projectile enemies are visually distinct. Settings to change the overlay colour of character, enemies, background and dangerous objects (but you can't scroll down far enough to change the dangerous objects one), these could be useful for people with colour-blindness.

TL;DR
Bug-slaying bullet-heaven where you collect a variety of unique weapons and upgrades. Needs more difficulty options. 3 maps that play very samey, 8 characters, 5 guns, tonnes of weapons. No rerolls/banishes. A few meta-upgrades. Very grindy achievements.

Really... dim.
Not gameplay wise or anything the UI just seems dark and it makes me squint.
Fun though.
Music is... repetitive. and when turning it on you will understand why it starts off.
I like this game.
I will come back to try it again!
You should play it.
